The room was an extension to the home, so it didn’t feel very private.

The hot tub wasn’t working for 3 out of our 5 days. It cost £25 per night, so we felt we lost out significantly, and when we were finally able to use it we ended up with rashes, which suggested the chemicals were not balanced. There was no sink in the kitchen or the bathroom. We requested a partial refund and were refused, even though we had been advised to contact Sykes. Overall, we were very disappointed. Being out of pocket and ending up with rashes was not how we planned to spend our “hot tub getaway.”

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. We would, however, like to clarify a few points for the benefit of future guests. The accommodation is accurately described and the facilities provided are clearly set out in the listing, including the kitchen and bathroom arrangements. With regard to the hot tub, we take any concerns about its operation and water quality seriously. The hot tub is maintained in accordance with our usual procedures, and we have no evidence to substantiate the suggestion that the water was improperly treated or that it caused the reaction described. We would always encourage guests to raise any concerns with us immediately during their stay so that we have the opportunity to investigate and address them at the time. You did not do this, but actually thanked us for “a lovely stay”. We are also disappointed by the suggestion that your concerns were simply dismissed. We did respond to the request for a refund and, having considered the circumstances, did not believe a partial refund was warranted. Furthermore Sykes actually paid for the hot tub use as you complained to them and they paid directly for the 2 nights you used it. We appreciate that the stay did not meet your expectations, but we feel it is important that our response provides some context and that future guests are able to make their own informed decision based on the full picture.
