  • "This is a lovely little cottage, in a quiet location."

Well equipped (although could do with additional glassware), and clean. Very convenient for Hayle and supermarkets etc. There is a generous living/dining room and a kitchen downstairs. There is a lack of side tables by the sofas, we had to use dining chairs. Also, we couldn't get a decent signal on TV, although I think it would be fine for streaming. The listing does say the stairs are narrow, and they certainly are! Getting a suitcase upstairs is not easy as it has to be either in front of or behind you. It's a bit like pushing a rock up a mountain. There is also a very deep step down into the bathroom, which I found to be not very visible and was paranoid I'd miss it. One other niggle about the bathroom was the lack of a blind. Not a huge problem, but as it is at the end of the shower, I'd feel uncomfortable showering if the light was on. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept very well all week. We were left a delicious cream tea, and some tea/coffee/sugar, toilet roll, kitchen roll, w-up liquid, salt/pepper etc. You are asked to replace anything you use though, which felt a bit odd as I've stayed in many cottages and not seen that before. We were also asked to strip the bed, again not something I've usually encountered. None of the above would put me off from returning, I don't want this to be seen as a negative review. Next time I would pack several smaller holdalls rather than one suitcase though

  • "Lovely little property which is perfect for individuals or couples."

Really clean and comfortable with everything you need for a holiday. Great pub 2 minutes away which is very friendly and great food. Lovely location but you do need a car as there isn’t public transport to the village. I had a lovely time there and hope to return one day.

  • "Anneth Lowen is a great little house for a couple."

It was very clean, comfortable, well-equipped and in an excellent location for getting to many of the attractions in the area, ie Land's End, the Lizard peninsula, St Michael's Mount and many National Trust properties/gardens. The local pub is just 5 minutes walk away. We ate there 3 times and the food was very good and the staff very friendly. There is an M&S food hall just 5 mins drive away (or 15 mins walk although there's no pavement along the surprisingly busy lane to it).

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
