Tumrose Cottage

Thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Tumrose Cottage .

Sheila and Kim are perfect hosts ensuring a warm welcome . The cottage is extremely well equipped including the log burner for cosy nights. Walks from the cottage allow stunning views of the surrounding countryside and moors . Looking forward to our next visit .

The cottage was comfortable, well equipped, had beautiful views and a well maintained enclosed garden which felt safe for our son to play in.

The owners were helpful, kind and they made sure we had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot and worked well. Having two toilets was useful and we also found it handy that the accommodation was all on one level. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook proper meals and the cottage was cosy and clean. The area around the cottage is stunning and we loved the close proximity to the moor and distance away from any main roads. We would love to stay again

The cottage location was ideal for us, far enough out of the way for peace & quiet but only walking distance from the village shop with plenty of walking options straight from the door up onto the moors.

The games room was a welcome addition due to the bad weather days, it’s at the other end of the cottage for those who can’t locate it; just walk out the cottage and either left through the small gate onto the lawn and around or right through car gate along the concrete farm surface it’s not hard to find & is massive with a lovely comfy sofa and plenty of electricity sockets for music or anything else you fancy. The beds are probably the most comfortable I’ve ever had in a holiday cottage & the cooker runs hot so take care with those pizzas!! It has a decent shower & wifi is constant & doesn’t cut out which is essential for those unexpected work meetings and you can connect to all your streaming services on the LG Smart TV. Theres is no longer a DVD player or land line phone so the notes could do with an update, also no visitors book which I always reference for places to visit so I’d suggest definitely walking up to jubilee rock for good views and visiting Golitha falls with the excellent Inkies smoke house.

We had a lovely comfortable stay in Tumrose cottage.

Everything had been well thought out, including iron & ironing board, vacuum cleaner, washing machine/dryer, hair dryer etc. Apart from a few cobwebs on the living area & bedroom beams and mouldy patio chairs, everything else was fabulous. The wifi getting turned off in the evening was a bit of a sore point for our 15yr old daughter but we increased her data whilst staying there so WW111 was averted! We think the description of the cottage could do with an update for the following reasons: 1) Where on Earth was this "Games Room" We searched high & low to no avail 2) The TV doesn't have a dvd player as per description so bringing any dvds for evening viewing isn't recommended! 3) Perhaps more up to date images could be used? as Tumrose cottage is a lot nicer inside than the images depict? 4) Parking was suitable for just 1 car not 2? 5) The water pressure is quite low so getting showered was like standing underneath a dripping tap? Other than the above mentions, our stay was great here and we'd definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family

We’ve just returned from a relaxing week at Tumrose cottage.

The cottage is in a perfect location to explore Cornwall and is only a short walk into the village of Blisland which has a lovely pub, well-stocked shop and village green with swings and a football goal. The garden is well fenced for dogs and there are some great walks on your doorstep. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Lovely cottage with great outdoor space for those relaxing evenings in the sun.

The cottage had everything we needed for our week’s stay and was ideally located to explore the north and south coasts.

Wow what a find Tumrose Cottage was the perfect getaway.

The weather was perfect, although a little warm for our boxer Franki, the garden provided the right amount of shade under the beautiful apple tree and a lovely sunny patio. The cottage had lovely rustic touches and the beds were so comfy. The Blisland Inn was just a short walk and very welcoming with their own range of real ales and very generous meals. Had a lovely week at this cottage with our Labrador.

Garden was great and secure, great walks from the house, very quiet and peaceful. Local shop and pub great, both dog friendly and welcoming. Plenty of hills and tiny roads but that's the area. The Camal Trail was a great find and flat and easy walking. Would happily recommend this property.

Absolutely beautiful cottage.

As soon as we arrived in the cottage you could feel the welcoming ambience. Angela and her husband looked after us and they were brilliant. The beautiful scenery across the fields was stunning. The bed was so comfortable we didn’t want to get up in the morning. Our dog claimed the bay window sleeping on her blanket and guarding the garden from the several robins and sparrows that visited. I can’t explain how relaxing the whole accommodation was. We just loved it to bits.

We had the most enjoyable stay at Tumrose cottage.

The garden was beautifully kept and very secure for our dog, who enjoyed playing and racing around it all the time we were there. The cottage had everything you could possibly need for an excellent stay, with charming comfortable bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen, and sitting/eating area. I would happily recommend this wonderful cottage for families and couples alike. The village had an excellent Pub with superb meals and the people were so helpful and very friendly. We have just had the first of three wks in Cornwall sightseeing all around and its a great base and great garden for the dogs.

My friend and I have different needs in a property and I found it perfect He did struggle with low beds sofas and toilets. But we had a great wk good weather and Shelia gave us a bowl full of lovely eggs.

Perfect get away cottage, everything was provided for including dish washer tablets !

The secure garden was great for our 2 dogs which meant we could relax. The cottage itself is light and airy and the bed very comfortable also 2 toilets which is a benefit. Tumrose is a great location for exploring North Cornwall and further a field. Camel trail not far and plenty of walks from the village too. The pub, "The Blissland Inn" is really worth a visit, go hungry as the portions are large and for the perfect cream tea can be found at the Duchy of Cornwall Garden center, well worth a visit and mot just for the plants. All in all you will not be disappointed with your stay at Tumrose, we've booked again for next April already.

A very clean and well equipped cottage, lovely and quiet.

We enjoyed our week away in this cottage not only a great location we had lots of super dog walks the Blissland inn in the village worth a visit for super food but extremely dog friendly Would definitely stay again.

Once again another brillant stay in our Cornish 'home' you want for nothing.

Ideal position for travelling anywhere in Cornwall. The garden is secure which ideal for dogs and the walks from the cottage are second to none, the village pub is very good but the Olde Inn at St Breward is even better!

Lovely quiet country cottage.

Everything you need for a comfortable week away. Great for dogs. Enclosed garden and easy access to moors, village and countryside so you don't have to keep jumping in the car.

Both myself, my granddaughter and our dog had a lovely stay and the owners were friendly and even loned my granddaughter some books for her bedtime story.

It's a beautiful place and I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful cottage, cosy and comfortable and beautiful surroundings.

We enjoyed our week very much. Nice pub down the village. We went only once to try their famous ale. If you are a walker, we recommend a nice 8 mile circular walk from the farm To St Breward, we decided to walk further to Churchtown for a pint and lunch. On the way back we visited the jubilee stone. All in all we fully recommend this place.

Visited Tumrose cottage in mid June,the cottage is as described.

Beautiful surrounding,the cottage is in front of the main farm house.Mr and Mrs Larsen the owners are extremely helpful,nothing to much trouble.We visited with our great dane,he enjoyed the stay and we will visit again.

We have stayed at tumrose cottage several times and it is like home from home.

Unfortunately my husband was taken ill on our first day and rushed to hospital so we had to curtail our visit. Hopefully we will be able to book again when he is bette

A quiet cottage in a peaceful farm location. Great for the dog with easy access to walking on the Moor and along the Camel trail. Garden well fenced.

A lovely little place.

Comfortable bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Owner provided a good stock of wood and kindling for the burner with access to more from the barn. The garden is large and secure for a dog. Perfect for bbq in the summer. This is a really peaceful location with the Blisland Inn less than a 10 minute walk. About 30 mins drive to Padstow or Polzeath for beach or coastal walks. Would recommend.

Tumrose Cottage is little gem, comfortable, clean and well appointed.

A single story stone barn conversion with beams and wood burner, utterly charming. The garden is well fenced so dog stays put. Blisland is an extremely friendly, pretty village with a strong sense of community. A well stocked shop and real ale pub/restaurant are 10 minutes walk from the cottage. Sheila and Kim, the owners, are a lovely, helpful couple which is a bonus.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location for us.

The countryside surrounding is some of Cornwall’s finest. Our only slight criticism is that the cottage felt a little ‘tired’ in places and perhaps could do with a deep clean. The beds were comfy, important for us and the linen was superb quality which didn’t go unnoticed! We were made to feel very welcome. We would recommend.

Lovely cottage, well equipped, great sized garden, peaceful and owners very pleasant.

Couches do get a little uncomfortable after an hour of sitting on them, and tv could be larger due to distance to viewing area. Please could owners consider having emergency contact information for drs, dentists and especially vets in the cottage - our dog slipped and severely injured his leg and took time finding an emergency vet.

This is the second time we have stayed at Tumrose Cottage and as ever it was comfy and fully equipped with everything for our needs.

It has it's own enclosed garden which our dog loves and the path up through the farm leads directly onto Bodmin Moor. Walk down the drive and a few minutes takes you to the village green, pub and shop. We will definitely be back.

Immaculate our only issue being the laminate floor (understandably which was for hygiene reasons)was very slippy for our dog but we had a rug in our van which we brought into the house.

A very enjoyable stay at Tumrose cottage.

A nice quiet location ( other than the cows and sheep having their usual discussions :-) The narrow Cornish roads take a bit of getting used to, however that`s Cornwall. Sheila & Kim made us feel welcome.

This is a delightful cottage in a quiet and peaceful location .

It is comfortable and homely; well equipped with everything you might need. Sheila and Kim are welcoming and helpful, and it’s great to see and hear their animals on the farm and to be able to wander freely through the fields and tracks. This is my 3rd visit to TUMROSE in a year! I just can’t keep away… The surroundings are wonderful for walkers, dogs and families, and a short drive through the country lanes will bring you to the delights of the stunning North coast of Cornwall with its beautiful beaches, cliff walks and lovely scenery. Last week our stay at TUMROSE was enhanced by wall to wall sunshine and a refreshing breeze- what more could anyone ask for?! Jenny

The only comment I have is that the Cooker is old- it works , but slowly!

When the oven is on its easy to burn your arm on the inside of the door because it swings back on your left arm when you are either taking something out or putting something in the oven. This is dangerous.. especially if there are children around. Everything else was lovely and cosy and well equipped. The woodburner was a great asset as the weather was appalling for most of the week and we appreciated the bags of logs that we were provided with. It was helpful having 2 loos as well, and the beds were very comfortable ! I shall be back again for another week In June! Jenny.

Tumrose is an absolutely wonderful place to go to for peace, quiet and lovely dark skies.

Kim and Shiela are wonderful people who are very welcoming and considerate a container of milk in the fridge, chocolate biscuits on the side made you feel very welcome. The cottage was warm and the beds very comfortable and also a very good internet connection. My daughter loved the proximity to the animals and the fact that Kim allowed her to help with their feeding. The bottom line is that Tumrose is a superb location with a safe environment for children and dogs. I wholeheartedly recommend Tumrose, you will not be disappointed with the location, the cottage or, more importantly Kim and Shiela.

Such a lovely bolthole from the madness of the world. Lovely to hear and see the farm going on around you. Calves this time! Mr and Mrs Larsen a delight as always. So helpful and kind. Freddie the greyhound loved it too and has asked to go back ASAP.

As the last Christmas 2021 feedback we had a similar experience and found the property quite dusty with a lot of cobwebs .

worktops stickie. Dog biscuit left under the settee. Steps from car park not good especially in the dark. I am shore it would better in the summer.

Return visit to a fantastic location.

Great base to explore to nearby places to visit such as Lanhydrock House, Padstow and Tintagel. In easy reach of great beaches at Polzeath. Fantastic pub in Blisland, great food and beer. Lovely walks direct from the cottage if you don’t want to take the car.

Owners were the perfect hosts and made us feel really welcomed and the people of Blisland were so friendly. There was nothing we did not like about our stay, everything bettered our expectations.

The cottage was absolutely great!

It was so well equipped and the garden was perfect for our dog. We felt very comfortable and relaxed. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. It was great to wake up to the tranquility of the farm with the cows and sheep outside the window. We all loved it. Thank you very much.

We have just had a perfect stay at this lovely cottage, the garden was ideal for our 2 dogs the cottage so clean and cosy, the owners was there on hand anytime you need them very nice couple, Ideally situated, and beautiful countryside,and a nice pub a short walk away , would highly recommend it, and hoping to return next March

A wonderful break, as always.

House quite cool in the heatwave as long as curtains kept shut. Community shop cafe and pub a delight as usual. Will be returning soon.

Loved the property, Gorgeous garden liked by us all especially our loopy dog and the window seat indoors was very relaxing to watch the wildlife.

The only problem was the uneven slightly slippy floor in the living Room.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and well equiped.

The outlook was attractive and only a short walk into the pretty village. There was also a delightful walk through the farmyard up to the open moor. The other bonus for us was the large secure garden which our dog loved. We will definitely be back.

You will want for nothing as very well equipped & very clean. The garden is very secure for dogs. The area is central for visiting all of Cornwall & the local pub is well worth a visit.

Lovely place, with everything you'd need and within easy walking distance of an excellent pub and community shop.

Bodmin Moor is easily accessible and you're within 30mins of the beach. Beautiful setting, with bluebells in abundance when we stayed. Location is also great for stargazing, with little light pollution.

Simple cottage well presented in a lovely quiet location.

Great pub in the village and easy access for anywhere in north Cornwall as 5 mins from a30. Cottage was warm, clean and comfortable and generously supplied with consumables. It was a bit cramped for 4 adults and lacked storage space but we still had a lovely time there and would return. Wifi was good, tv was basic.

Our second stay at Tumrose and the owners were thoughtful to provide milk and biscuits on our arrival.

The cottage was warm,comfortable and clean and ideal to bring our dog to ,with an enclosed garden ,access to fields and a short walk to the village . The weather was fabulous and we were able to sit outside as well as visit some beautiful beaches and countryside . The cottage is very peaceful with only the sound of cows mooing and lambs bleating .An ideal place to get away from it all.

The cottage was clean and cosy, the garden was very well kept and secured for our dog. The area is really pretty, with some farm animals on our doorstep, which our 7 years old absolutely loved. There was no issues with heating or hot water during our stay. The owner was always at hand, available and very helpful, providing us with wood for the log burner everyday. The games room isn't within the property so we didn't use it.

The Larsens are delightful.

Property was fine but I'm afraid cleanliness was an issue for me considering there was a note that suggested extra cleaning due to covid.

Kitchen surfaces were dirty and had crumbs. Cups, glasses, plates, bowls and saucepans all had to be cleaned prior to use. The cutlery tray is also dirty. Hoovering had not been done well, as there was dust and hair around the edges of the living area. The TV unit was dusty and hairy. The twin room had a very dusty carpet and dog treats under the bed (noticed due to us moving the furniture to suit our needs). Main bed frame extremely dusty at the headboard end (noticed when remaking the bed each day). The mattress also has stains on (noted when removing the bedding at the end of our stay). Main bathroom, sink had not been fully cleaned behind the taps. The towel rail/radiator had not been cleaned and was dusty on every rung, as was the toilet roll holder. In addition, although it appeared clean, the toilet seat was a rather off putting aged yellow colour, with staining under the seat. The back of the bathroom door was also covered in dust. The listing suggests parking for 2 cars, this was not possible and we left our second car elsewhere during our stay. No safe path from parking area to property meant we had to walk on the grass each day. Crazy paving type stepping stones were slippery and uneven. Patio area to front of property was also slippery. External lighting was totally inadequate. We were unable to bring our dog in or out of the property without stepping onto the grass (it rained for the majority of our stay) which made keeping the property clean much more difficult. The hoover provided to enable me to clean up dog hair during my stay was not up to the job so bought my daughters one over to use. The mop has clearly been there for a very long time and requires replacing. I'm afraid I wouldn't choose to return to this property.

Mr and Mrs Larsen so helpful but unobtrusive. Coffee on the verandah of the village shop overlooking the valley a particular delight. It rained a lot but I was snug and warm by the woodburner.

!!!! Perfect cottage for a young family- ours are almost 10, and 6, and we love the cottage. Great size and has everything you could need. Gorgeous location and will go back as soon as we can.

If you love a farm setting you will be even more pleased with the beautiful cattle, sheep and sheepdog. Lots of lovely walks. the local pub is friendly with good fare. Shop stocks lots of goodies so you dont need to shop before you go down!

Tumrose cottage was perfect for a family of 4.

It is so well equipped and literally had everything you could need. Bedrooms are spacious and the beds are some of the most comfortable we’ve slept it! Fantastic cottage in an amazing location- couldn’t ask for me and will definitely be returning. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Larsen too- super hosts!

Great accommodation and location.

Perfect for exploring eastern Cornwall.

The cottage is situated on a working farm just outside the pretty village of Blisland, which has a good shop, Post Office and pub.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a good shower and very comfortable beds. The photos don't do it justice, and furniture inside and out has been updated and is now elegant and of good quality. The garden is beautiful, so peaceful and relaxing, with lots of flowers, bees, birds and a wonderful apple tree which provides shade on sunny days. It is fully enclosed and genuinely dog secure, with wire across the bottom of any fences and gates, and around hedges too. A great garden for the dog. There are walks onto Bodmin Moor from the cottage, and the Camel Trail is also a few miles' walk away. Blisland is a great base to explore the rest of Bodmin Moor, and the North Coast (Tintagel, Trebarwith, Port Isaac, Padstow), and the South Coast (St Austell, Charlestown, Fowey etc). I'd definitely recommend Tumrose Cottage.

The cottage was warm and inviting and nothing was too much trouble for the owners who were most attentive.

It is situated in peaceful countryside and ideal for dog owners. This is an excellent base from which to explore the beauties Cornwall has to offer. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.

We had no hot water for 1 day no heating 3 days there were cob webs on beams hanging down we had a wood burner which i bought wood for then was told that there was wood on the property i could have used We could not contact the owner dispite trying even knocking on the door

I have just returned from a week of sheer bliss in Blisland.

This place is magical, perched on a hill with a Lovely gated garden, superb walks from the door, the stunning village with its fantastic community-run shop with loads of goodies. I didn’t want to leave. Very warm, very comfy bed, piping hot water, efficient woodburner, and the best for me, a window seat looking out over the garden facing full south. I didn’t want to leave. When the Covid restrictions lift, the pub and the coffee terrace at the shop will reopen, and I will be back ASAP!

The cottage is tucked away and quiet but a short walk to one of the best pubs in Cornwall. Great hosts.

The owners were lovely and friendly and we had our own space and outlook.

The enclosed garden for our dog was great and the cottage was cosy, clean and well equipped. Our teenagers enjoyed the garden and the WiFi. Well located in the village in the heart of Bodmin Moor - village pub is friendly - make sure you explore the deepest parts of the moor nearby - the cheesering, Delphy bridge, Temple church....great walks.

Small post office for food and drink essentials. Nice circular walks from centre of village. 35 minutes to the coast.

Excellent cottage, very comfortable and has everything you need.

Would definitely stay again if holidaying in this area. Lots of places near enough to visit by car, whether coast or inland. Blisland a lovely village with a great pub! Steep walk back to cottage for hardy souls. Recommended.

We love Tumrose, it is always very clean and comfortable.

Enclosed garden which is good for our two collies. We have been several times and alwyas had a great stay.

Warm welcome on arrival with tea coffee ,sugar ,biscuits and milk in the fridge .

Venue was peaceful ,spotlessly clean and comfortable. Good access to a range of interesting places to visit . many places were dog friendly including a choice of beaches .

We were recommended this cottage because was equipped with a shower room and was on all one level for wheelchair access.

Also a pub that served food was walking distance away. What we were not told was that the cottage was at the top of a very long and steep drive. The first night we went to the pub in my wheelchair but could get back as the drive was too steep. If it was not for the owner rescuing us in his car we would have been in dire straights. Other nights we had too drive to the pub.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage.

The owners greeted us on arrival and we were concerned as their house was so close we would feel awkward but they left us to enjoy our holiday in private. The cottage was so cosy, well equipped and well positioned. The enclosed garden was beautiful, well kept and a good size, our pugs very much enjoyed running around in it. We will definitely return.

Ideal cottage to relax in this quiet tranquil area, this cottage is equipped with every thing you need, it has excellent access to wonderful walks with the dogs.

Tumrose is an excellet property in an excellent location and perfect for a relaxing break.

The enclosed private garden was great for our dog, Suzie. The owners, Sheila and Kim (and their dog Connie) were very welcoming but equally left us to ourselves once after our arrival. Great to see a working farm with all the country noises that goes with it. Suzie was fascinated watching the sheep go to bed each night!

We spent Christmas

During the past nine years or so that we have been booking with them, Helpful Holidays have always been very - well,helpful.

Now that they appear to have been taken over by Sykes Holiday Cottages we are less than delighted. Sykes Cottages have imposed a booking fee, which Helpful Holidays never did; they have removed the Family & Friends discount, which Helpful Holidays gave us; and they have increased the rental charge without any consultation with the owners of the holiday cottage. We have been going to the same holiday cottage for all these years - because it suits us and we like it. There is no advantage to us in having a much wider range of cottages to choose from. We have booked our holiday for next year - same weeks, same cottage - and it is costing us over £300 more than our holiday this year. We are not happy with Skyes Holiday Cottages.

Lovely time at the cottage.

It was mainly ideal for our circumstances with enough space and all on one level. A seat in the shower for our disabled aged relative would have enabled use of that for them, standing using the bars was not an option and a stool in the hall could move about in the shower and was too low. That being said they did not advertise that this would be available and not knowing fully what space we had to play with meant the one used at home was left behind. The owners were helpful and asked us to contact them should anything be needed , other than that they kept their distance and were not in our pockets. Lots of information about local things to see and do. The Blisland Inn is a real bonus, being within easy walking distance for anybody without mobility problems and with plenty of parking around the village green. We were advised by bar staff to book for Sunday lunch if we wanted to eat in the restaurant part, which was a good tip for there are no many tables in that part. In the bar and outside you can order off the bar menu which is extensive, food from local producers and reasonably priced. All the people in the bar were friendly and helpful and we even went to do the pub quiz on a Weds night. The post office/ shop/café was not open every day and closed part of some days and sells newspapers and basic food needs. Nearest supermarket is Asda, a short drive away and is a large one. The church in Blisland is said to be John Betjemen's favourite. It is small inside with Norman features with a very impressive ornate altar and is open for anybody to wander around. Most disappointed by Pencarrow House, despite all its blurb. Booking through Sykes was easy and very detailed information was provided, unlike other similar booking sites.

ALL i can say is Helpful holidays made one week in the year stress free and enjoyable thank you so much.

Well furbished cottage with all what is needed to relax.

Kitchen facilities adequate, with dishwasher. Nice garden and room for table tennis available for guests. Nice and cozy for a relaxing week, ideal base to explore northern Cornwall.

The cottage was wonderful and the hosts were very helpfull.

It was so central as a base for exploring Cornwell. So many extras and advice re walks, meals and photography of wild life. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and little extras tea and biscuits on our arrival. Our stay couldn’t have been better.

Brilliant cottage is beautiful location could not wish for more.

Very dog friendly area with some lovely walks from the farm.very close by access to the moor. The local pub is worth a visit as serves good ale and food and within walking distance. Just a Brilliant Holiday with easy access to north/south Cornwall. Will certainly be visiting again. Nicola, Cecil, Cheryl, Dave & Yogi & Ruma the dogs

Had wonderful holiday in pleasant surroundings.

Cottage had everything that we needed and the owners were very helpful and friendly. Good walking through the working farm and Bodmin moor with its ponies, sheep and other wildlife. Nice old village nearby with its village green surrounded by its houses, church, old school, post office and friendly public free house serving many real ales. Would we visit this area again?, yes defintely.
