  • "We holiday in Cornwall three or four times a year and we both enjoyed our stay at Sunbury Barn."

Lovely location, quiet, peaceful yet still close to coast and other local attractions. Nice touch by owners providing a welcome of scones and all the trimmings! Large terrace and well maintained garden to roam about in together with woodland walks to the south. The access drive may put some people off but there is another tarmac lane to the south leading to St Agnes/Perranporth. Owners run the smallholding/farm adjacent and we’re very pleasant. Would definitely book again.

  • "Sunbury Barn is in a beautiful isolated situation."

The owners are helpful and friendly but not intrusive. The dogs are lovely and friendly. The property was immaculately clean and well equipped. The quality of the bathroom fixtures and the hot tub is very high. We used this a base to play the top golf courses in Cornwall and to come back to a comfortable cottage with a lovely hot tub was ideal. Highly recommended

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Sunbury Barn."

The huge garden and hot tub were perfect for our family. Inside the cottage was super comfortable and the shower in the main bathroom was too good to get out of! The cottage is in a great position so the garden gets the sun all day long and there are so many stunning beaches close by, we were spoilt for choice! We just needed a little better weather for our week away. It was great meeting the owner and his very friendly dogs too. We wish we were still there!

The mess behind the beds dirty socks and had to get vacuum out straight away.Knife’s in block with food still on.Access road not suitable for cars other than 4x4 we kept scraping the bottom of our car on concrete that went across lane on a tight corner.Road full of pot holes.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at Sunbury Barn. We are sorry to hear of the issues you encountered. We have flagged these with the housekeeping team. We wish you had notified us on your arrival and we would have been more than happy to have rectified this for you. Sunbury Barn is at the end of a non tarmacked track, whilst it is narrow in places it is navigable by all cars - tried and tested by the owner of the property! Property Owner

Such a pretty setting. The cottage was beautifully decorated and so well equipped. The lady next door was lovely. Our highlight was daisy the dog. We absolutely adored her. Our children loved playing ball with her. So much so they used their holiday money to get her more balls to catch. We will definitely be back. A perfect location too Thanks for having us

  • "We had the most wonderful stay."

Sunbury is a beautifully converted barn owned by a lovely family. Perfect location for my husband to surf and for us to enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer. The place was clean, warm, and cosy with an awesome hot tub and log burner! Highly recommend this as a quiet, peaceful base for exploring Cornwall. Also if not keen to explore, this property is enough in itself, there are walks on the owners land through woodland, to a near enough pub with great food. You could happily stay there without driving very far and have a wonderful quiet break. We will be back as soon as possible!

Great information book in the barn about the local area The owner is very helpful with information about the local area and communicates to ensure you are happy during your stay. The garden is shared and very large. My dog enjoyed exploring during our stay. The owner has two friendly dogs as well. There is a great hot tub but the weather was too stormy during our stay to experience it. I recommend this property and will hopefully return again

The garden was amazing for our two Jack Russells although not secure, would benefit from a gate just to make sure the little paws don't stray! The upside down living of the barn was quirky and charming! Well stocked kitchen with Smart TV and an amazing log burner. This property was perfectly situated to roam up and down the Cornish coast and we got out to some amazing locations and beaches. I can't praise this property enough and the owners were lovely as well as their two dogs who visited us to play fetch whilst we were in the hot tub! we will definitely be returning to Sunbury and will bring our friends with us! Fabulous!!

  • "One of the best… We’ve stayed in quite a few Sykes Cottages and this one has been one of the best we’ve ever used."

Good communication before arrival, accurate arrival instructions and even left the lights on to help us in the dark. The barn itself has everything you need for a very comfortable stay and is kept in a clean and tidy state. The owners are welcoming and only a stone throw away if there are any issues, which it is unlikely there will be, as most scenarios have been catered for already. I have no doubt we will be back again in the future.

We arrived quite late on the Friday evening. To our surprise there were some provisional supplies which was a lovely thought. The cottage has everything you need. Very peaceful, with beautiful views along the valley and hills. The hot tub is a perfect way to end the day, especially on a chilly evening. We didn't have a problem with the tarmac drive, we found it the best of the two drives.

  • "We have just enjoyed a terrific week at Sunbury Barn, booked at short notice."

We had read the descriptions of the two access routes and found both exactly as described. The lane access is perfectly fine provided it’s taken steadily but we preferred the tarmac drive as it felt a little quicker to get to the main road. Jim and Carolin were perfect hosts, leaving us to enjoy our holiday but with the reassurance they were available next door if needed. We didn’t think we’d make much use of the hot tub however it was a great way to relax after a coastal walk or at night with a clear sky. The property benefits from feeling ‘countryside’ but being such a short distance from the coast and local amenities. We had everything we needed in the barn and it felt very homely and comfortable.

The owners Caroline and Jim, were extremely helpful and gave us useful tips and suggestions for good walks, places to visit and were always on hand but in a discreet way. Their 2 beautiful dogs came to say hello regularly and kept my daughter entertained with their ball games! The barn itself is gorgeous, exactly as described. It's like a home away from home with every single thing that you could possibly need whilst on holiday. They have thought of everything. From the lovely welcome goodies in the kitchen to the comfy beds, the never ending hot water and lovely powerful showers. We loved it all. The hot tub was a real treat in the evening especially with the bats flying over head. We were very lucky with the weather which made our holiday even more fantastic, however there is still so much to see and do in the area that we must go back! We would definitely book Sunbury Barn again.

They were absolutely brilliant with our two boys one of whom is special needs and they adored them completely and truly made our stay! • "The road into property could do with upgrading"

Thank you for taking the time to leave your valuable feedback. The two access roads to the property have not changed. There is a fully tarmacked but steep drive suitable for all cars. The other drive is a shared farm track which is quite pitted in places. It is easier to find Sunbury Barn via the farm track so the directions to find the property are via that route, but once at the property most people will use the tarmac drive. Property Owner

It was just what the doctor ordered for us, some pure Cornish chill out time! It was a sheer delight coming back to the barn in the afternoon and jumping into the hot tub, made even more entertaining by Maisy and Daisy visiting. Poppy, our 15 year old West Highland Terrier had an absolute ball, she loved the flat garden and the friendly visits from Maisy and Daisy. A very peaceful location but so close to some of the UK's most stunning beaches. Due to Covid restrictions we couldn't experience a lot of the local pubs and restaurants, of which there were many to choose, so we are already planning our return visit! We cooked in most nights and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Thank you

  • "We had a fabulous time at Sunbury barn, great location for us, perfect size, nice and warm, very comfortable and lovely setting."

Would recommend to our friends and family. Few minor attention to detail issues with regards to the cleanliness and maintenance of the property for the owners to be made aware of. Large amounts of Cobwebs in the rafters, dead flies are caught up in some of them. They are hugely noticeable when all the lights are on or the sun is shining in. Quite a bit of dirt and dust around the top of the walls where the bottoms of the beams sit in the lounge and kitchen area. When emptying the bin on departure, the kitchen bin is quite dirty on the inside and could do with disinfecting/cleaning/replacing. The lights in the extractor fan above the oven and hob don’t work and need replacing.

Thanks for your feedback and we are glad you had a great stay. We are sorry to hear about the issues you’ve raised. We have attended to all of the areas to which you brought attention, and will be bringing them up with our cleaners as well. Property Owner

The southern access route is certainly steep, but fortunately it rarely freeze here – we’ve only not been able to use it due to ice a handful of times in the 20 years we have been here.
