  • "Very disappointing."

Property smelt & felt damp. There was a leak across the kitchen dining area. The floors were covered in sand and grit; the crockery and cutlery needed washing pre-use. The oven needs properly cleaning along with the very grubby dining chairs. The bathroom floor tiles need regrouting and the shower screen falls apart if opened. There was no bath mat or toilet roll. No welcome pack. The leak and poor cleanliness reported to agents J. Bray. at the time. They arranged a re-clean which did improve things on a surface level. However all of our clothes/ dog bedding smelt of damp on leaving and all needed washing. We have reported this to Sykes (twice) but haven't received any response. No apology from anyone.

  • "A beautiful spacious property in a good location with plenty of off-road parking, which is great for the location of Port Isaac."

The cottage had everything needed for our stay with lots of additional touches such as the information boards, plenty of DVDs, books and games. The garden was a sun trap and lovely to sit in on an evening. the only downside was an uncomfortable mattress, both myself and my husband woke every morning with aching backs. Although I do recognise that having a soft mattress is a personal choice. Overall the cottage is beautiful and I would recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. Noted on the mattress, these are down to personal preference but we will keep an eye on it! - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Nice property in good location with parking Only 2 negative points which we had been made aware of before the visit but feel its worth saying our experience about them."

We were lucky the builders next door only spent 2 days working on. the house and didn't start till 9am , but if you are a late riser the drilling would definitely get you up , as I said we had been warned and the builders were polite and just doing their job The other point is probably something which affects all properties, the last day leave time of 9am we feel is too early , 10am would suit us better as we couldn't get in till 4pm. We understand cleaning the property thoroughly takes time but maybe a better compromise, Thanks for all the hard work to ensure the high standards are met and thaks for the welcome gifts, very nice touch and starts the stay off on a very good note Regards Mike

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Regarding the check out time, this is actually 9.30am as opposed to 9am, you should have received this information on your welcome email prior to coming down. The premises itself was exactly as described and was clean and extremely comfortable. The self contained rear garden was a fantastic sun trap, which we enjoyed immensely. We absolutely loved our stay at this amazing property and will return again if we are lucky enough to be able to book it. I have been coming to Port Isaac for 50 years and No.28 was without doubt the nicest property that I have stayed in. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

  • "We had an excellent stay."

The property was lovely, great location, clean and well appointed. We would definitely recommend to others and be happy to stay again. Unfortunately the high winds last Tuesday/Wednesday knocked one of the ores that was mounted on the side of the house in the garden to the ground and broke it. There was nothing obvious we could do to fix it so we put it to one side in the back garden. Thanks, Adam

Thank you Adam so much for your review we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We are visiting the house in May so we will take tools to repair the ore but thank you for trying ! Many Thanks Yve & Bob Property Owner

  • "The location in Port Isaac was fab, and having parking for our 3 cars was just brilliant."

We thought the property was well appointed and very comfortable. The decor was stylish and attractive. The views from the bedrooms were lovely. We appreciated the fact that there were more than the requisite 6 plates etc and plenty of cutlery. We did think the plastic wine glasses/ flutes were out of keeping with the rest of the kitchenware but appreciate that if there had been multiple breakages of glassware before, then plastic alternatives would seem sensible. We thought the decking area was an added bonus and appreciated it as a space to sit out and eat in, one evening. We also found the number of gel room fresheners rather over powering but we just moved them until the end of our stay (that was a very minor problem and a personal observation which others might not share). All in all, number 28 was perfect for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you very much for this feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Number 28 and everything is has to offer. We hope we can welcome you back in the future! Property Owner

  • "I was surprised to say the least at the state of the adjacent property as there was also a lot of builders materials and rubble on the grounds of 28."

The property had high tog and feather duvets on the beds (in July) which made sleeping difficult, in addition to this the third bedroom had waterproof sheets and duvet covers. One of the sofas in the lounge which backed onto the kitchen wall had a damaged arm (the side nearest to hallway atrium door) The pans in the kitchen were not of a good standard with very damaged non stick coatings and some fairly basic kitchen utensils missing. There was no small chopping board but a v large offcut of butchers block worktop which made cleaning it very difficult. No property information book. The owner had left lilies which dropped their stamen onto the rug in the lounge. The properties onsite parking was useful.

Thank you for your feedback. The building work is stated on the website. Summer duvets are now provided in the property too. The sheets were not plastic. There is an information board with all relevant information within the property. The sofa is not damaged. The flowers were left as a goodwill gesture. The kitchen has a full recommended inventory, and there was a chopping board. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the use of the parking space. John Bray Cornish Holiday’s. Property Owner

Each room in the house has been beautifully furnished to a high standard and the beds were so comfy, the best I have ever slept in. The notice board in the kitchen was a lovely touch and we could find everything we needed to know about the house and things to do in the area. I love that there is plenty of parking at the property which is so hard to find in Port Isaac! The location of number 28 is fantastic just a short walk to everything. We can't wait to come back to this beautiful home. Thank you.

About the location

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
