  • "Fabulous cottage in an excellent location."

Cleanliness excellent, very roomy. Real home from home cottage with everything you need. Coastal walks across the road - fabulous.

  • "Very happy with the accommodation and location."

Some minor points to mention: Mixer tap in the kitchen very wobbly -needs tightening. Carpet between lounge and dining room has a split in it which could be a trip hazard. Shower head cradle in main bathroom is faulty so you can't direct the shower head outwards. A hand towel in the ground floor loo would have been appreciated. These points would not stop us booking again. Feedback is for you really, I understand you might prefer not to publish. Regards.

  • "My husband & I, together with our son who was over from New Zealand on holiday, spent the week 5th—12th August at Karrek cottage in Bossiney, Cornwall."

We were delighted with the cottage & very pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. All the rooms were large bright & airy with good quality furnishing & fittings. We were only fifteen minutes walk from Tintagel & an easy drive to Wadebridge, Padstow & surrounding villages. We visited Port Issac & of course Tintagel Castle. We would have liked to have visited the Eden Project but unfortunately ran out of time, our week passed so quickly! We would certainly recommend Karrek cottage as a delightful relaxing place to spend a holiday.

All the facilities were as described and the hot tub was a nice extra which was checked every day by an attendant to ensure safety standards were met.

  • "Very well equipped cottage."

Fantastic location to explore area. Well presented, loved all artwork. Would definitely book again and recommend. The mattresses could do with updating. I'd definitely consider installing a dishwasher in the future. Also the hot tub is not covered, so not able to use some evenings. Issues with damaged window, which were declared to us prior to arrival. But it wasn't repaired so we couldn't have it open in main bedroom.

All the extra equipment and utensils in the kitchen were fantastic, we also loved the fluffy blankets on the sofas for snug evenings watching tv. The hot tub was an amazing addition to our stay, well looked after by th3 maintenance team and very clean. It was an amazing location for our stay, thank you for sharing your lovely property with us.

  • "Lovely cottage, much bigger than we thought."

Charming decor and very well equipped even down to a wine bottle stopper! Please add the tassimo coffee machine to the list on your details, as I have the same one at home and would have bought my pods along. Location was fantastic, easy walks to and from to see stunning coastline and tintagel Castle. Loved the hot tub that was a real delight even in the summer. Ample parking space for one car. Very quiet area so was lovely to relax after a long day. Thank you for the bottle of wine! We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was fantastic and tintagel and North Cornwall were stunning.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Karrek, the cottage is beautiful, very homely, spacious, well equipped and in a lovely little village but close enough to amenities in Tintagel."

A little disappointed that the cottage hadn’t been cleaned fully by check in at 5pm (which is an extremely late check in on the day of arrival) and the mattress in the main bedroom desperately needs replacing (very uncomfortable). Would definitely return/recommend if the mattress was replaced.

Pretty much everything was perfect. Please get some decent washing up liquid, Christmas Dinner was difficult to clean up after.

  • "Just a few small comments."

We obviously knew the sofa's were getting refurbished after we had stayed and we can see why. The double bed could do with a new mattress i think (personal opinion) but the oddest thing was the heating. I spent an hour after arrival just trying to get a radiator on so lucky it is not as cold as this week. such an odd and very poor system. I guess you have got used to it but as someone through the door having to reconnect sensors to thermostat etc and no timer (auto) would work. Still thanks for letting us stay for a week

The property is very well located in Bossiney, near Tintagel and the castle yet within an easy drive from North Cornwall's stunning sites. It was a pleasure to come back to Karrek, it is warm and cosy and the hot tub and wood burner are a must on a blustery November evening.

Great cottage, clean, central location and deco is lovely, lots of facilities and we would return again as we enjoyed our time there, have not given 5/5 as off road parking is for 1 car (not disclosed) and near car park was always full as services Bossiney Cove, small suggestion to improve stay, minor feedback - small coat hook on bedroom or bathroom doors for dressing gowns etc and single bed mattresses need replacing as uncomfortable due to their age: springs/dents

  • "Fabulous cottage with every piece of equipment you could need."

My only comment on this is that I rang Sykes for more info. On what was in the kitchen and the agent just read FRI the list and looked at the pictures. It would be useful in these cases to contact the owner. We took far more equipment that we needed (cafetière etc) when there was a coffee machine there on worktop. We also noticed the back door mat was saturated in arrival and due to rain all week, we couldn’t get dry. There was also a smell of dog when we entered day which is odd as it advertised as no pets. All that said though, we would stay there again if we went back.

  • "Beautiful cottage in outstanding area - perfectly located as we particularly enjoy walking the coastal paths - and so had a great time despite the current climate."

We didn't experience as much eating out as we would have preCovid so will definitely look to return when things improve on that front. As a couple the cottage had everything we could possibly need and more - the only slight disappointment was that the log burning stove was for ornamental purposes only - especially as the autumn weather appeared with a vengeance mid way through our stay. All in all a wonderful holiday!

The property

Tintagel 0.9 miles.

Resting in the small village of Bossiney, just under a mile to the bustling village of Tintagel, is this charming semi-detached cottage.

The property has been renovated to a high-standard with a lovely light decor and contemporary furnishings, whilst still managing to retain some of its original character with the exposed beams and small inglenook fireplace which houses a woodburning stove.

Look forward to a relaxing evening in the sitting room with two large leather sofas to sink into with beautiful sea views out of the window, whilst the TV provides the entertainment.

Resting behind this is a lovely fitted kitchen with wooden units and sleek granite worktops, housing a range of appliances for cooking up some delicious meals, with a washing machine as an added benefit so you don't have to bring your whole wardrobe with you!

Choose to dine at the large dining table with plenty of seating for the whole family, or bring a board game from home and spread out for a friendly game.

Once the evening draws to a close, retire to either the double or twin bedroom, each fitted with chest of drawers for storing your personal belongings and bedside tables and lamps, ideal for some late night reading.

A shower room can be found on this floor also, with deluxe fixtures and fittings, whilst the master bedroom has its own en-suite shower room so you don't have to fight over the shower room in the morning.

During the summer months, step out to the enclosed patio and decking area, complete with a picnic bench for some alfresco dining, or take a dip in the hot tub and let those bubbling jets work their magic on your aching muscles.

The small village of Tintagel has huge associations with the legendary King Arthur, particularly because of its historic Tintagel Castle which rests cliffside, with the hidden gem Merlin's Cave resting below.

The castle ruins have a wealth of character and history to be discovered, with some of the most magnificent coastal views imaginable.

A stone's throw away from the property is the footpath which leads down to Bossiney Bay and Bossiney Cove Beach.

The South West Coast Path rests along the coastline and is perfect for a morning stroll or cycling with superb views.

Tintagel also offers a delightful country pub, King Arthur's Arms Inn, awarded 4 stars and offers a delicious menu and plenty of traditional ales.

Karrek is the perfect property for remote holidays with your loved ones.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and within a short distance is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a short but scenic drive.
