  • "Superb house with amazing views over the bay and down into St."

Ives. 1 minute walk from the station which is a 3 minute ride into St. Ives. Facilities in the house are as described and the open plan living/kitchen is of a very high standard. Hot tub is great with the amazing views. We were a family of 4 and plenty of space for more people, can imagine it is beautiful in the warmer months to eat outside on the balcony, we didn’t have the best weather but didn’t stop us. The EV charging point is a great addition to the house. Tesco is only 2 minutes away and the bars, restaurants and cafes in St. Ives are well worth a visit. Easy access to other places such as Lands End, Kyance Cove and Perranporth again with beautiful beaches, views and places to eat.

There is much to like about the property - location, stunning views , very comfortable beds . I loved the spa bath. I stripped the beds prior to leaving, in order to help with housekeeper ( who had been very helpful.) I discovered that the mattress cover and mattress in the master bedroom were badly stained and the duvet in the other big bedroom was also badly stained. Very disappointing.

Two units in the kitchen would not open or close properly and crockery/glassware section needs an update i.e so there are 6 or one strand cups that fit the saucers etc. Otherwise satisfactory

The house has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay in the gorgeous Carbis Bay area. The owners had thought of everything , the house extremely clean & spacious & having your own parking space is such a bonus in this area. The train to take you into St Ives is right on your doorstep. Would not hesitate to book this house again. Sykes Cottages once again made everything very easy & streamline, with no issues at all. Thank You Sykes

  • "A second stay in a lovely apartment - issues with the TV and Sky box several times during our stay (not sure why an apartment of this quality and price shares the Sky system with the adjoining apartment), and surprised that the apartment wasn't cleaned halfway through a two week stay."

Great view and excellent location, shame about the big price increases for 2022.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, we are happy to hear you liked the apartment. We are sorry to hear about your issues with the TV, we have notified the owner to see if there is another way the Televisions can be set up to avoid this issue in the future. In regards to a halfway clean, unfortunately these are not included as part of your stay but we do include a full linen and towel change to be completed by the housekeeper half way through your stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "The villa was very nicely furnished, spacious and had a beautiful view."

However, the images of some of the items inside the property were not very accurate, for example there was no Sonos speaker in the property, so we were disappointed as we purposely left our portable one at home thinking that there would be one provided. Some of the crockery were chipped which is not very hygenic. We had to wash the throws which had a musty smell on them, there were no bulbs in two of the bedroom lamps, we were unable to access Netflix or Sky movies in any of the rooms beside the one room that contained the double bed and the garden area outside of the master bedroom needed cleaning. I contacted Carbis Bay holidays regarding these matters on the first, second and third days (We only had a four-day holiday) but nothing was done about it apart from Luke coming out on the last day and logging us into the Netflix, which by that time was virtually no use as it was our last night there. Loved the villa but very disappointed with the lack of service from Carbis Bay and the owners.

  • "My family and I enjoyed a very successful stay at Portside."

Proximity to station and beach was a great asset. Carbis Bay Holidays resolved the issues with the WiFi promptly and the washing machine door. Was contemplating booking the accommodation for next year we enjoyed the stay so much. Was disappointed to discover the price has increased 60% next year. Either this is an astute business move on behalf of the owner capitalising on the effect of the pandemic and G7 or naked profiteering.

Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for your Feedback and I am pleased to hear you enjoyed a very successful stay at Portside, it is in great location isn’t it. With regards to the increase in pricing, this has been set due to the current demand for holidays and properties in St Ives and Carbis Bay for 2022, however this is constantly being monitored and reviewed. We thought the accommodation was without a doubt one of the best holiday accommodation's that we have ever stayed in. When we arrived we were met by the housekeeper she was very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was spotless when we arrived. Portside was very well equipped with a lovely kitchen which my husband very much enjoyed cooking in. The views from the open plan living area were amazing. The bedrooms were really spacious and very comfortable. My two daughters very much enjoyed bath time in the spa bath.” E.Moscatelli

Everything was absolutely perfect! The apartment was just as shown in the internet – even better. The view was wonderful and the furniture was so stylish and done with such good taste – we loved the apartment. The equipment of the kitchen and the whole apartment was so high class, we felt very much at home. The location of Portside is also perfect: near to the beach, with perfect view and in one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall. We loved going to St Ives. The boat trip for seeing seals was great. We saw a large number of them, about 25 at least. Out time at Portside was one of our holidays we liked best." S. Burtscher

With a husband who is a golfer, the full sky package came in handy for the Ryder Cup. He played Perranporth and West Cornwall Golf Courses (I caddy he buys me lunch), both challenging. Our younger members used Porthmeor Surf School, £30 per 2hr lesson, equipment included and if you book 3 lessons the third is £15. Love Porthminster Beach Cafe but Porthwidgeon and Porthmeor were both good too, as was Blas Burgers and the Digley Food Co." N. Brown

! (something I always judge a holiday on). We have stayed in and around the St Ives area for several years, but had never stayed in or even visited Carbis Bay, we are now hooked, the beach is stunning and far quiter than neighbouring St Ives, and the costal path walk is a must, there was a lovely friendly atmosphere in the village, and the nice thing was we didn't really use the car, we walked to the beach every day, we walked into St Ives, and I even walked to Tescos. It was a perfect home in a perfect position." M. Stubbs
