Waves

The property is gorgeous and the location is incredible, but the mattress in the master bedroom is so worn it’s very hard to sleep on it.

Our first night, neither my husband nor I got any sleep at all. There’s no number for the owners except an out of hours emergency number, so we spoke to Sykes about the problem. Sykes got a hold of the owners who said they were not looking to replace the mattress at this time, despite the fact that it’s got a massive dip on one side and is very tilted on the other. I sent pictures but never received a response. I spent the week sleeping in one of the single beds, and my husband spent the week on the bad mattress since our daughter was on the other single. There also isn’t blackout lining on the curtains in the master, so when the sun comes up in the summer at 4am, the room is very bright. These issues impacted the week we had so we definitely wouldn’t stay at this property again, despite the gorgeous views and the brilliant location.

Generally apartment was okay but now looks tired with sofas and double bed requiring replacement.

Apartment not really clean compared to previous stays at same apartment over the years. The electrical system needs looking at with temperamental extraction fans and washing machine tripping the fusebox. A bit of tlc would dramatically improve the apartment.

Nice secure parking and accommodation, although the parking space is side on to a wall and tricky to park due to the bin wall, but that's a small thing.

Stairs or if you're lazy a lift down to 0 where the flat is located. Where do I start the kitchen, literally everything you would ever need is in here! Plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots pans etc. All super clean and tidy. The lounge diner was open airy with wonderful views out to sea. The Settee could do with updating as a little spongy for us and annoying no pin for the Sky box (perhaps take a deposit or set the account not to allow purchases?) The bedrooms and bathrooms were again very good, large master with views and doors out to the decking, in case your too lazy to walk through to the lounge! The bed and pillows were far too soft for us and my back and neck suffered but for others this would be very comfortable so you can't please everyone. Access down the windy path and across the road and you are on the beach in literally 2 minutes, soft sand, very clean, water clear and free from any rubbish or debris. I even got to swim with a very inquisitive Harbour Seal, best part of the holiday. Million dollar question would we go back and it's a yes. This is one of those places you stay where I will promote this for other people to stay in such is the location and quality. I already miss sitting out watching to sea and hearing the waves. We will return.

We had a great stay at Waves and would definitely return.

The flat was not totally spotless but clean enough. It is really spacious and well equipped and the location is absolutely brilliant.

We have had an excellant week in Waves,we have been coming to Carbus Beach Apartments for 10 years and this is the best apartment we have stayed,unfortunatley my daughter was ill and could'nt leave the apartment which was such a shame.

I would love to rebook for September to go again.

The electric gate didn't work meaning the car-park was not secure.

I contacted Carbis Bay Holidays as I was unable to use the gate that lead to the beach, they answerd, left me on hold for just over 9 minutes, then cut me off. When I called again they didn't answer. The accomodation was fine but the property agents are a waste of space. Still waiting on the £100 cleaning bond!

Absolutely wonderful stay at waves!

Magnificent views, fabulous kitchen, ( very well equipped ) clean and very comfortable. Very convenient for the little train to St Ives, and beautiful coastal walks. Would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you !

6 remotes for tv usage complicated. Everything else was very good.

Excellent stay!

Great location and apartment and would 100% stay again. In the most part very clean, however the carpets are full of hair which was sticking to all our socks. The WiFi didn’t loaded and the bottom gate to the beach would be better being a code rather than fob so you don’t have to take keys to the beach.

We have never stayed anywhere that suited us better.

Everything was first class. Starting with the very best aspects first, the patio and superb view, very well appointed with good quality throughout, spacious, easy private access to the beach, very secure with easy parking, lovely beach, easy to get to St Ives on foot or by scenic train.

This was in a beautiful location and the views from the property were amazing.

We could walk to St Ives easily and the beaches were obviously perfect. It was a bit odd being on the ground floor at the back where quite a few people walked, we kept the curtains shut at the back and it was fine. The flat was a great size with really good facilities. It was a shame that the jacuzzi bath didn’t work, it wasn’t advertised as having it but my daughter was disappointed on seeing it that it didn’t work! The main thing we struggled with was the car park, the remote didn’t work and the fob was temperamental. There was also someone in our parking space one day. Overall though it was a lovely place to stay and we had a really good holiday.

A few disappointing elements, one key fob didn’t work, only one French door would open in both rooms, some stains on crockery, very disappointing welcome pack compared with previous stays- only milk and chocolate buttons, both sofas very tired, cushions stained.

However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will provide Babylon return again to a different apartment.

Excellent location and great sea view, really made our holiday.

Very quiet and relaxing. Beds excellent. Only negative I would give is the curtains in the bedrooms need to have blackout lining. Thank you.

Perfect location for a family holiday to Cornwall, dedicated private parking and proximity to beach as well as being a great location for exploring Southern Cornwall made it perfect for us.

Fabulous place & fabulous view

Unable to get out because lift was broken the whole time during our stay

On the positive side Waves is in a beautiful location.

Perfect for access to St Ives by foot or train , wonderful sea view and close to the beach. Lovely spacious terrace sunny and sheltered. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Welcome pack was appreciated. The negative’s were mainly around the poor electrics. The remote fob did not open the main gate. We used the red disc fob but had to go out of the pedestrian gate to operate it when we needed leave the car park. The lift did not work which was an issue when carrying baggage up and down 32 steps. We were not informed of this until the day we arrived. The round fob did not operate the beach access gate so we were unable to use the gate throughout our stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Waves, the view is delightful.

It was lovely falling asleep to the sound of the sea and watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The property is well maintained. However the internet was intermittent, but then again if the plan is to be offline, it doesn't matter.

Beautiful apartment with absolutely stunning views of the best of the British coastline.

Peaceful and quiet with a short walk to the beach. The apartment has everything you need, even buckets and spades, windbreaks and surfboards. We really enjoyed our stay - thank you.

1st of all the view is epic!

Enjoyed breakfasts on the decking when weather allowed! Apartment was spotless on arrival, some really nice touches too! Loved the heated towel rails and kitchen facilities were great. 5 min walk to the beach down a zig zag path was ideal, rather than 1 steep path or steps down. Wifi was very good too

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

The only feedback we’d add is that the main bedroom would benefit from blackout blinds or curtains.

The apartment was perfect with stunning views. Listening to the waves at night and watching the swimmers and seals in the morning was just lovely. We visited many places to eat and explored Cornwall which we enjoyed. We will definitely be back.

'Waves' at Carbis Bay is in a lovely location and was clean and tidy for our stay with all major facilities provided EXCEPT that the lift was NOT in full working order which does not make things easy when the apartment is on the lower ground floor and the car parking, unloading/loading road is two levels above.

The alternative is via 4 sets of 8 steps, i.e total of 32 steps. Whilst use of steps is mentioned as a footnote to the 'narrative' the extent should be better highlighted and much earlier in the description and the number of steps mentioned. Also, the Remote Control provided with the apartment keys to open the security gates for vehicles did not work and the 'Proximity Fob' to open the pedestrian gate to the beach road was missing -although when reported this was immediately provided. In the Travel Directions/Key Collection Brief received it emphasised -by way of a paragraph in Capitals/Upper Case - the importance of clearly exhibiting the vehicle parking permit provided. However, nowhere in this brief did it clearly state where/when/how this permit could be accessed/found. This necessitated numerous phone calls to clarify. For 'sun worshippers' in the Summer it should be noted that the apartment faces approximately north east and did not therefore appear to get any direct sun on the decking/patio area. Under the current arrangements, (and not known until you have booked), the keys to the apartment have to be collected from and returned to a location approximately one mile away via a somewhat steep hill - not ideal, especially if arriving by train/without transport. No mention of this in the main/prebooking details. Why are the keys not held in a 'Key Safe' at the property as in most other locations? As regards the facilities inside the apartment: 1. Provision of some coat hooks for coats etc in the hallway inside the main door would be useful. 2. The 'twin' bedroom is quite small with one bed right up against the radiator and window - not ideal. 3. The wardrobe in this twin bedroom was hardly useable because half of it was closed off/secured internally and the other half was being used as a storage area for some surf boards and beach wind breaks etc. 4. Finally the 'standard' of the Welcoming Pack' was not as previously enjoyed at other holiday apartments and left a lot to be desired with no Vino and no makings (i.e. no Scones, Clotted Cream, Conserve), with which to make a Cornish Tea. Would we stay again? Possibly now that we are forewarned but we suggest the details are made clearer and perhaps the location of the key safe for the keys/rc/fob/permits be resited to the property.

We have stayed at Waves before and this is one of the best apartments within the Carbis Beach apartments.

One tiny comment is the advertising of having full Sky+ is misleading. It has none of the channel subscriptions, so is essentially freeview, it's also the very old Sky Box where you can only record one programme. Fair enough if you don't plan on watching the TV in the evenings. If you do, take your Firestick or watch your streaming on your own device.

Waves is a superbly comfortable & well appointed apartment with an incredible view over the whole of Carbis Bay.

Every aspect of the apartment exudes quality & attention to detail that one might expect from 5* accommodation. Spotlessly clean & with delightful welcoming touches, we enjoyed our stay here immensely.

It really was a home from home and with 2 year old twins was far less stressful than expected due to the facilities provided. A few minutes walk to the beach and the train station, great views. Will hopefully be back next year.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though it was late November in Cornwall. Beautiful apartment - all needs catered for and very comfy beds! One small comment - a rubber mat may be a useful optional extra for any elderly guests in the shower. Yes love to return but can see it’s rather popular !

A lovely apartment in a perfect location

We really enjoyed our stay at Waves, but it seems like it will not repeated next year as it is already fully booked foe the school summer holidays.

"Waves is very well finished indeed and what lovely views; so relaxing. Spotlessly clean and so well provided for that we really wanted for nothing. We didn’t stray far but enjoyed St Ives and Carbis Bay as well as visiting St Michael’s Mount. I enjoy my seafood and so was very impressed with the standards in all places we visited. The Ocean was good from memory and we also enjoyed the Porthminster Beach Café for a quiet night for two. Very impressive. On the takeaway front you simply cannot beat Beck’s. I don’t believe I have had better fish and chips. Boat trip to see the seals was good but having young children it was the beach that was the main attraction and they are all very good." Anon.

"My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful holiday, Waves lived up to expectation, we travelled by train and this is probably the most well appointed self catering accommodation we have rented in the UK. I was staggered by the variety of kitchen utensils etc and the whole place was spotless. Out and about we walked to St Ives many times and also to Lelant Saltings - warm welcome and cup of tea at the old station. We booked a day trip to the Scillies with Oates Travel and caught the train to Penzance to see the Olympic torch and then caught up with it again in Marazion. There was also a very warm welcome at the local church over the railway line and up the hill. Then there was the food festival and the farmer's market and the variety of shops and the views.....! . In terms of eating out: Porthminster Beach Restaurant, Sea Food Cafe, Harbour Fish & Chips, Porthmeor Cafe Bar, Becks Fish & Chip Cafe. Other visits to, I should Co Co,The Allotment Deli, Moomaid Ice Cream Zennor - could go on and on!" J. Eden

Kids loved the Wii and the jacuzzi bath which we weren't expecting! We particularly liked picking mussels off the rocks at low tide and cooking them for dinner. Kids thought that was fantastic. They also liked Paradise Park(!!). Porthminster Cafe was fab as usual and the fish and chip shop on the main road in Carbis Bay was great. We went to a lovely beach on the north shore which I can't remember the name of now (past turn off to St Michaels Mount) but they had a fantastic cafe in a shack just by the beach which did evening BBQ's in their garden and had people playing live music. Wonderful stay in Waves.

Very well kitted out apartment with of course stunning views! Seals in the bay every day and as a special treat a pod of dolphins! Walks along the South West Coast Path, visiting St Ives, circular Zennor walk, all with their own charm and all walks challenging and rewarding. We take away peace tranquility and super memories.

What a great apartment and in an ideal location.

What an amazing place!

This is our 25th Wedding Anniversary Celebration break for just the two of us and it could not have been more perfect!! This apartment is absolutely beautiful with the most special view from the private decking. Our daily walks along the beach and paddling in the cool crystal clear seawater was idyllic. We recommend: • The walk to St Ives and back. • Train journey to St Ives or St Erth and onto Penzance for shops. • Carbis Bay Hotel (delicious crab risotto – beach restaurant). • Breakfast bagels in St Ives harbour • Porthminster Beach – saw the seals swimming. • Portggwidden Beach Café Bar – lovely on the beach • The Loft Restaurant – seafood chowder can recommend • The Host restaurant, St Ives • Pednolva Hotel (revisited after 18 years) Big thank you to all people who rent this apartment! The apartment is well equipped and beautifully furnished. The view is heaven! This booking has been so relaxing (just what we needed) and the weather has been amazing! We have been to Carbis Bay twice and have booked to return for a third time! Thank you x

Love this beach and the apartment is the perfect place to stay and not too far up the huge hill! Highlights – paella @ a Casita, Cream Tea at Yellow Canary, Fish & Chips from Becks. Also good walk along coast path to Lelant, Hayle and Birdies Bistro!

What an amazing stay!

Lovely weather, great apartment, beautiful views and the cobwebs blown off! A stunning beach ideal for our 7 year old. Great memories made building sandcastles, creating dams, bodyboarding and swimming alongside the seals. Thank you Waves, we hope to return in the future.
