Perfect for access to St Ives by foot or train , wonderful sea view and close to the beach. Lovely spacious terrace sunny and sheltered. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Welcome pack was appreciated. The negative’s were mainly around the poor electrics. The remote fob did not open the main gate. We used the red disc fob but had to go out of the pedestrian gate to operate it when we needed leave the car park. The lift did not work which was an issue when carrying baggage up and down 32 steps. We were not informed of this until the day we arrived. The round fob did not operate the beach access gate so we were unable to use the gate throughout our stay.

It was lovely falling asleep to the sound of the sea and watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The property is well maintained. However the internet was intermittent, but then again if the plan is to be offline, it doesn't matter.

Enjoyed breakfasts on the decking when weather allowed! Apartment was spotless on arrival, some really nice touches too! Loved the heated towel rails and kitchen facilities were great. 5 min walk to the beach down a zig zag path was ideal, rather than 1 steep path or steps down. Wifi was very good too

  • "'Waves' at Carbis Bay is in a lovely location and was clean and tidy for our stay with all major facilities provided EXCEPT that the lift was NOT in full working order which does not make things easy when the apartment is on the lower ground floor and the car parking, unloading/loading road is two levels above."

The alternative is via 4 sets of 8 steps, i.e total of 32 steps. Whilst use of steps is mentioned as a footnote to the 'narrative' the extent should be better highlighted and much earlier in the description and the number of steps mentioned. Also, the Remote Control provided with the apartment keys to open the security gates for vehicles did not work and the 'Proximity Fob' to open the pedestrian gate to the beach road was missing -although when reported this was immediately provided. In the Travel Directions/Key Collection Brief received it emphasised -by way of a paragraph in Capitals/Upper Case - the importance of clearly exhibiting the vehicle parking permit provided. However, nowhere in this brief did it clearly state where/when/how this permit could be accessed/found. This necessitated numerous phone calls to clarify. For 'sun worshippers' in the Summer it should be noted that the apartment faces approximately north east and did not therefore appear to get any direct sun on the decking/patio area. Under the current arrangements, (and not known until you have booked), the keys to the apartment have to be collected from and returned to a location approximately one mile away via a somewhat steep hill - not ideal, especially if arriving by train/without transport. No mention of this in the main/prebooking details. Why are the keys not held in a 'Key Safe' at the property as in most other locations? As regards the facilities inside the apartment: 1. Provision of some coat hooks for coats etc in the hallway inside the main door would be useful. 2. The 'twin' bedroom is quite small with one bed right up against the radiator and window - not ideal. 3. The wardrobe in this twin bedroom was hardly useable because half of it was closed off/secured internally and the other half was being used as a storage area for some surf boards and beach wind breaks etc. 4. Finally the 'standard' of the Welcoming Pack' was not as previously enjoyed at other holiday apartments and left a lot to be desired with no Vino and no makings (i.e. no Scones, Clotted Cream, Conserve), with which to make a Cornish Tea. Would we stay again? Possibly now that we are forewarned but we suggest the details are made clearer and perhaps the location of the key safe for the keys/rc/fob/permits be resited to the property.

Thank you for your constructive feedback. We are afraid that the lift is waiting for a replacement button which unfortunately the management company to the development is waiting to arrive. The reason that we put the number of steps in the details to the property as well as a note at the top of the booking page prior to placing the booking, is that unfortunately there are occasions where the lift could become unavailable. The note is to prompt anyone with mobility issues to contact us to ask if there are alternative accommodations where reliance on a lift is not mandatory. We can see that you contacted us on the day after you arrived to say you were unable to locate the fob disk for the beach, so our Property Management team dropped you on the same day, we apologise that your vehicle gate only worked on the first day but we understand you could use the trade button to get your vehicle in and out. The battery in the vehicle fob has now been replaced and is in working order. In terms of your parking permit, you appear to have called prior to your stay to confirm where the parking permit will be left and spoke with a colleague to clarify this. In reference to the key sae location, following your feedback the owners have agreed to move the key safe location to the Property rather than up the road at our office, to make it easier for future guests. The feedback referring to coat hooks and storage for surf boards, the lack of space in the twin bedroom have also been fed back to the owner for consideration of any possible improvements they could make. After the sad closing of Ferrells bakery, where we used to get our cream tea supplies, we had to make a decision of another provider. We chose a Cornish company to provide biscuits for each booking, and the welcome pack also currently includes Apple Juice, Chocolate Buttons, a starter of tea, coffee and sugar and a Jute Bag. There are some owners who offer additional welcome pack items but this is up to each owner’s preference. We hope after addressing the items above that we can welcome you back for another stay in Carbis Bay. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at Waves before and this is one of the best apartments within the Carbis Beach apartments."

One tiny comment is the advertising of having full Sky+ is misleading. It has none of the channel subscriptions, so is essentially freeview, it's also the very old Sky Box where you can only record one programme. Fair enough if you don't plan on watching the TV in the evenings. If you do, take your Firestick or watch your streaming on your own device.

Thank you for your constructive feedback. Its great to hear "Waves" is one of your favourite apartments. With regards to the Sky+ we can confirm that the property does offer this exact package, however the owner has advised that there are only a limited amount of channels due to the property only having one satellite so far. I am pleased to inform that the owner has taken your feedback on board and and is now looking into installing a second satellite at the property to ensure that guests can make full profit of the Sky entertainment during their holidays going forward. We apolgise for any inconvenience caused by this during your stay and hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back in the future! With Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

People who look after this apartment and look after the décor and attention to detail – so clean!! Thank you all xx

  • ""We had a really fantastic holiday in Waves."

The apartment was everything we expected, and then some, and the views were simply outstanding! The apartment was spotless when we arrived, very well equipped and it had absolutely everything we could possibly have wanted for our holiday. The train into St Ives and St Erth is a must and it is so convenient not having to struggle to find parking. I am sure we did the same things as many of your other guests, trips to St Mawes, Mevagissey, Portreath, Porthcurno etc etc. The Eden project was stunning and we especially liked the Mini golf at Porthminster . Restaurant-wise we tried the Porthminster Beach Café, Waves (how appropriate) and The Seafood Café, all which we thoroughly enjoyed. Beck's fish and chips are also a must (if only they opened on a Monday!). We enjoyed ourselves so much at Waves we asked to extend our stay by four days and this was dealt with very swiftly by your team and we were delighted to be able to stay on. Our whole experience has been a joy, we hope to come and stay at Waves again later on this year." J. Jackson

Spotlessly clean and so well provided for that we really wanted for nothing. We didn’t stray far but enjoyed St Ives and Carbis Bay as well as visiting St Michael’s Mount. I enjoy my seafood and so was very impressed with the standards in all places we visited. The Ocean was good from memory and we also enjoyed the Porthminster Beach Café for a quiet night for two. Very impressive. On the takeaway front you simply cannot beat Beck’s. I don’t believe I have had better fish and chips. Boat trip to see the seals was good but having young children it was the beach that was the main attraction and they are all very good." Anon.

There was also a very warm welcome at the local church over the railway line and up the hill. Then there was the food festival and the farmer's market and the variety of shops and the views.....! .
