  • "The issues were that the house was quite cold when we arrived (27th) as the heating wasn’t working properly."

I contacted the number left on Saturday 28th and spoke to the management company who told me the owners would ring me that day. We also then discovered that the tumble dryer was pouring water out during use. Didn’t hear anything from them till Sunday 29th, they were very difficult to speak to and I wasn’t quite sure what they were going to do. In the end they said they would ring me the next day. We then didn’t hear anything from them on Monday (30th) and also found fresh mouse droppings in the kitchen cupboards where the plates and pots and pans were kept. Rang the management company again, they contacted the owners who then said they needed to speak to me. I don’t know why they wanted to speak to me as I had already told the management company everything. I then got another call on Tuesday (31st) saying that they were going to send a plumber and would I be okay with that? Or they would just leave it. I said to send the plumber as the tap in the kitchen also wasn’t working well. I found speaking to the owners very frustrating and they never seemed to say what they were going to do. We spent quite a lot of money for this trip and in the end we have left a day early. I ended up having to be on the phone many times during our trip which was very inconvenient and difficult to deal with. The owners seemed to think it was perfectly normal that there were mice. The cottage was clean when we arrived but the fresh mouse droppings were not ideal and the owners told me that it was normal for the countryside. So if that’s the case I think that information should be added to the listing so people can make an informed decision.

Thank you for your feedback which we have discussed in full with the property owners. Following this conversation we’d like to clarify a few points regarding communication and the issues raised during your stay. The management company handles cleaning, preparation, and guest calls. They contact the property owner when a maintenance issue is outside their remit, this is then followed up with guests directly by the owners. Your call was returned as soon as possible the following morning. We have been assured by the owners that the boiler and heating system are serviced annually. They were very sorry if the house felt cold on arrival, it can take a little time to warm up having been unoccupied the previous week. You reported to the owner that 3 of the 12 radiators were not warming up, as discussed on the phone with them, it was confirmed that as all other radiators were working this was not an urgent concern. When a tap issue was later reported, a plumber was sourced and attended the next day and resolved both issues. Their question about the visit simply concerned whether you preferred to be present or not. They have advised that the puddle of water remains a mystery, both the tumble dryer and washing machine were checked by the maintenance man following your departure and both were found to be working normally. As Tremorla is in open countryside, the occasional field mouse is possible, though unusual at this time of year. No evidence had been seen before your stay, but the maintenance team is addressing this now. The owners were also sorry to hear that you left a day early, this was not mentioned during your conversation with them earlier that day. The owners of Tremorla take their lettings very seriously and pride themselves on giving good holiday experiences for all who visit and we as a company have every confidence this will continue to be the case moving forward.
