  • "Sadly, we cannot recommend Dairy Cottage."

The twin bedded room smelt musty and the radiator was rusty. The bathroom toilet brush holder was rusty and had left rings on the wooden floor. The back and front doors had mould growing on the insides. Outside, one lawn had long grass and the patio with the BBQ had big weeds, as did the path running behind the cottage. This was bordered by a wall that had been painted white at some point but now looks dirty. The owners were on holiday for most of our visit, but I did discuss our disappointment with Janet on their return. I was advised to contact CCH which I have done and sent photos to illustrate the problems.

The cottage is in a peaceful spot but close to the main road giving good access to the north and south coasts of Cornwall. the woodburner made the evening warm and relaxing. A most welcome gift of wine, shortbread biscuits and fudge left for us to enjoy together with beautiful fresh flowers in the window sills making it home from home. Very well equiped fab kitchen (loved cooking our meals here!). Bedrooms were comfortable with a great walk in shower/ensuite facility in ours. The boys had twin beds in their room with their own bathroom nearby which was great. We loved every minute of being in the cottage and was in no rush to leave it each day and explore. But explore we did, with the cottage being within easy reach of NT Lanhydrock, Charlestown, Fowey, Port Issac (Doc Martins village), Tintangel but the icing on the cake for the boys was the beach at Porthpean which had fab rock pools. Camel creek was a fab kids activity rides park too. Another favourite place for the kids was Cardinham Woods a mile from the cottage where they loved paddling in the shallow waters there in their wellies... absolutely idyllic. We had a Robin visit each morning and the boys loved the owners 2 friendly gorgeous dogs and looked for them on leaving and returning to the cottage each day. When our car didnt start one morning Mike was soon their with his jump leads and we were on our way. Much appreciated. We had the best holiday at Dairy Cottage and made some lovely memories to treasure. Many thanks Jan and Mike. We cant wait to return.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage located away from the A30/A38 but within easy access of local facilities."

Just a short drive away from the NE and NW coasts of Cornwall and ideally situated for Eden Project. Just down the roads is the fabulous Cardinham woods with clearly identified trails and award winning cafe, an area I would highly recommend if you like walking or biking. The cottage is like home from home, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped. All the rooms are generously proportioned with the added bonus of a conservatory overlooking the garden. There is an enclosed garden but you are granted access to the owners land to explore. An outside patio and BBQ are available if you are lucky enough to experience good weather. The beds are firm and although I normally sleep on a softer mattress I slept really well. Jan and Mike are the perfect hosts allowing you the freedom to enjoy your stay but on hand if you need anything. A welcome basket of goodies was waiting for us on arrival and Mike left us some of their fresh eggs all of which was really appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate booking the cottage again when staying in the area and highly recommend it and the wonderful hosts.

Jan and Mike were excellent hosts, very helpful to answer any questions but also were very unobtrusive. The cottage itself was perfect for us and our twin toddlers, all of the facilities were just what we needed to have a home away from home. Beds very comfy and enough space for us to set our two travel cots up in the smaller of the two bedrooms. The animals kept at the main farmhouse were also a hit with our girls as they loved seeing the chickens, dogs and cats. We were even lucky enough to be given 6 fresh eggs which were delicious. The location of the property itself was great too, as it was very central to everywhere we wanted to explore, most places were within 30 mins and some a little further afield. There was also an excellent choice of supermarkets just 5 minutes away with Asda, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl. We visited nearby National Trust Lanhydrock which is only 5 minutes down the road and a definate must if you are staying here. We also went off to Looe, Polperro, Fowey, Polzeath, Par Sands, Tintagel, Port Issac, Charlestown, thenlost gardens of heligan, Newquay Zoo and even all the way down to Botallack to see the tin mines. We had a fantastic week, making alot of happy memories and we will definitely be back to stay at Diary Cottage in the future. Thanks again Jan and Mike, we will be back soon.

Having said that they are very nice people. The cottage is very conveniently located, it feels like you're in the middle of no where. But you are only 5 minutes away from Bodmin, which has all conveniences you could wish for. There also a lot of activities nearby. The only possible negative thing we encounters is the matras on the bed below could use a matras topper. Our hosts and their welcome to us were brilliant and the property was everything and more a holiday cottage should be, BUT this feedback questionnaire makes no sense at all. There is no basis shown for rating the elements listed above, so it is a pointless exercise. I cannot be rating "cleanliness" on how easy it is or that it exceeded expectations. The system used here does not even vaguely suggest "excellent", "good", "bad", "average" or "indifferent". It might intend to indicate "top-end" "middling" or "bottom end". We loved the property, the people and the animals, but this survey does them no favours at all. Finally, this request shows an absence of joined-up data. We have just returned today from Penrose in Porthleven, another of your properties , which we booked through yourselves, so our return journey was today, and not on October 4th.
