  • "Filthy windows therefore couldn't really see the views promoted in the advert for the property."

Raised issue-not resolved.(Text to say window cleaner would come but certainly did not). Shower poured water all over ensuite floor so we had to use different shower all week.Raised issue - not resolved. Went to toast bread too tall for toaster - filthy grill pan.Not spending more time on holiday after paying a lot to scrub burned cheese etc off metal.Raised issue-not resolved. Shower heads-thick with black mould & yellow/orange mould.Raised issue-not resolved. Spent time on arrival trying to hoover the crumbs & wipe milk/yog/porridge stains/lumps etc from the kitchen chairs.Hoover poured out dust clouds & didn't suction.Spent time emptying & clearing pipes etc.Raised issue-different hoover sent around. This hoover even more blocked/clogged inc the entire base!Gave up then because no point trying to raise when it won't be dealt with. Found hair dryer on last day in cupboard underneath pegs etc in utility. Utility had no taps or sink. Outside back-how is this area 'stunning'?Filthy patio set covered in many stains & dog urine pretty much all over.Bare concrete & weed filled brick paving.Large stones around area from back door to 'patio area' which the dogs struggled to walk on.(No outside tap or hose to wash down dogs paws etc or to try to clean off patio furniture). View to back-piles of brick & rubble. Outside light at front-bulb on way out so flashes all night. Loose cobbles out front, trip/fall hazard! Kitchen bin, cleaned it because it was dirty & smelled.Still rusting & looks unhygienic. One arm chair has visible arc of stain which was possibly urine?Lump of dog poo on cushion on sofa (I washed cushion covers).Back of one arm chair just comes off in your hand! No mop-kitchen floor especially is absolutely filthy. That needs mopping each time guests leave especially as dogs are present & carry viruses & parasites! One awful towel left for week stay for kitchen.Had hole/threadbare & spread fluff on everything. Every kitchen cupboard had one spray mark on & the signs it had been spread slightly across but not cleaned. One kitchen knife-broken tip. Yet again another holiday home with filthy cutlery/kitchen drawers.I did organise & clean this one because it was so bad.Noone wants to reach for a utensil & find a pubic hair, dust & mouldy crumbs! Nowhere to put anything like toothpaste, brushes, flannel, items in the showers etc. Slow draining plug holes in showers & bathroom baisins-these need unclogging by hand & then running through with cleaner. We couldn't stomach doing that as they were revolting esp top bedroom ensuite. Mould in every shower cubicle & shower head but not as bad as the lumps of black which came out of the 1st ensuite hand held shower. Mats for wiping feet in hall-ive seen more substantial face flannels! All curled up around edges so theyre trip hazard & they move around so they're also a slip hazard! Rug in 2nd bedroom downstairs-curled up & trip hazard on way back from ensuite. My ALN son tripped on this every day. Filthy marks around bathroom basins & kitchen sink as paint coming away due to zero tiles. 1st bedroom ensuite-black flies attracted to the mould in the wooden skirts & wet walls & flooring due to the shower leak which, based on the look of that sealant around shower, has been an issue for a very long time.Skirting either side of shower is blown & no amount of reed diffusers can mask the smell of damp/mould. Bed sheets don't fit the beds?! Came off multiple times a night, struggle to put them on, repeat ad infinitum. One of my absolute pet hates - yellow stained pillows which smell like old dribble & other people's heads! Not many pillows had protectors on either. It is disgusting to lay your head down on a bed & smell the smells especially as this is supposed to be a luxury accommodation & it looks like the pillows are the thin, yellow, stained & smelly ones people throw out! Unacceptable. Wooden stairs thankfully they're so sticky with dirt/grime they are safer than if they were cleaned. Placemats filthy with old food,I spent a good half hour cleaning them but theyre like plastic covered cardboard so had to be careful. Lounge tv broken or damaged or faulty as top left corner is pixilated. I do not understand why people are so impressed by some 'free' biscuits & fizzy wine on arrival as opposed to looking at what they are actually paying for? I also cannot understand how several of the issues haven't been addressed & resolved especially the 1st bedroom shower?! What have other guests done?!Guests pay for ensuite, not to walk around and use another bedroom's ensuite. I doubt any issues raised here will be resolved because typically people don't complain & feedback is only accepted if it is the vacuous, praising sort which raves about free biscuits & how 'stunning' things look as opposed to genuine feedback about genuine issues. Yet another style over substance property which is already starting to look unkempt, cannot keep up with the wear & tear of holiday let stays & needs a very good clean, maintenance carried out, drains cleaned, new bedding purchased, new pillows brought in & pillow & duvet protectors used, tiling put around key 'wet areas', bin replaced, hoover cleaned especially filters, mop brought to property, plumbing put into utility for taps & sink, mats changed to rubber backed/non slip, kitchen drawers cleaned & utensils & cutlery looked at & broken ones swapped out. Positives-comfortable beds! Comfortable kitchen chairs.

Thank you for your detailed review. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and while we regret that the property didn’t meet your expectations, your feedback has been noted and acted upon. Several of the issues you raised—such as the shower leak, cleaning standards, and equipment condition—have already been addressed. A new TV has been installed, the window cleaner has attended, and we’ve taken up concerns with our cleaning and maintenance teams. Some aspects of the property, such as the land behind, are not under our ownership, but we are reviewing how these are presented to ensure clarity. We understand that not every guest will have the same experience, and while many enjoy the comfort and amenities offered, we recognise there’s room for improvement. Your comments have helped us identify areas that need attention, and we’re making changes accordingly. Thank you again for your feedback Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Bal An Mor."

The location is brilliant, and it really does have a sea view, none of this having to climb onto a chair and jump to see the ocean! A little tricky to find, our Sat Nav kept sending us into a field, Danny helped us in the end. Hint, it's next door to the Trewellard Arms. We recommend the Queens Arms pub which we went to three times.

Very comfortable in both the lounge and bedrooms The view from the lounge window was captivating, the sunsets were spectacular! We did have stunning weather! We had only a few tiny wee little niggles, nothing to stop us returning to Bal-an-Mor in the future though! The shower cubicles could do with a caddy in them, constantly bending down to pick up your toiletries was a wee bit of an annoyance. There were no cushions for the outdoor furniture set, making them quite uncomfortable to sit on. No instructions on what to do with waste etc. Other than those above, you will not be disappointed!

It is a beautiful house, modern, clean and comfortable inside, with everything we needed from comfy beds to all the equipment necessary for catering for ourselves. The welcome hamper was a real treat too. There is plenty of parking and the enclosed outdoor space was a real sun trap. It is ideally situated for walking and exploring the area. We left thoroughly rested and would recommend the property. Thank you.

  • "Really lovely holiday home in a beautiful location close to the beach and moors and larger villages the property was clean and spacious with smart tv in two of the bedrooms and one in the lounge ( although the spec stated they were in all bedrooms) these did not connect often though which was often frustrating but maintenance was being carried out to upgrade the internet connectivity in the village during our stay so this will make it better for future visits and was expected in a remote area to be fair."

All bedrooms had a en suite and all rooms were light airy and of high quality furnishings and decor. The house was really beautiful. Villagers were friendly and passed on local knowledge on walks and areas of interest and leaflets in the property also helped plan our days. . The owner had thought of everything to ensure our stay was comfortable with supplying toilet rolls enough for the week for 6 people to leaving a lovely thoughtful hamper of treats to leaving a supply of tea coffee and milk. Everything you needed was in the property for cooking washing and drying all we needed was shower gel and food. The only thing we all missed was a bath after a very long drive but the showers were excellent. The spec stated no enclosed garden which we were initially concerned about- and not noticed when booking- with having three dog, however this was inaccurate as luckily for us there is a beautiful secure enclosed garden perfect for young and old and those with dogs which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The owner Danny was extremely helpful and courteous and easy to reach if needed but also left us alone too which was lovely. Overall we were all very happy with our holiday stay at Bal an mor!

Spotlessly clean, super comfy beds, great view of the sea from the lounge. It was perfect for a new year family get together of 3 adults (myself and 2 twenty something sons) and 2 dogs. Weather was stormy and super windy, but we were warm and comfy inside the house. Still managed to walk the coastal path 3 days, which was also spectacular. Then evening dinner in either of the local pubs. Unfortunately had to leave 2 days early due to personal circumstances, but would love to return to this amazing place.

  • "Beautiful house furnished to a high standard."

The beds were very comfortable with lovely bedding. It was beautifully clean with great fluffy towels. It is well equipped with everything we needed for our week although limited cupboard space for food(only 1 corner carousel). A bread bin would have helped manage that space. We were 6 adults with 3 labradors and it was spacious enough for all of us although it could be noisy as a result of wooden flooring throughout and the main living space being upstairs. Communication from Danny, the owner was first class and he was really helpful. We had a problem with the door lock and he had somebody with us in about 10minutes to fix it. No real outdoor space though other than the area for parking our 3 cars but 2 min walk to the moors above the village and 10 mins down to the coastal path. Highly recommended.

The only tiny improvement I could suggest is somewhere covered outside to hang the wetsuits/water based items so we don't have to take them inside the immaculate property if it rains! As I say it's only a tiny improvement as everything else about the property was amazing!

E no brush and pan or vacuum cleaner available. No bin liners for bins. Had to purchase our own or wouldn't have been able to clean up. Upstairs shower wouldn't turn to cold and side glass of cubicle has a leak water seeps outside onto floor. Sofa had a very pungent smell of garlic over it, had to keep spraying with febreeze to be able to use it. Wouldn't have thought these issues are brought to owners attention or they could have been rectified quite easily.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We do provide brushes and cleaning products, they are kept in the utility room. There wasn't a vacuum cleaner available during your stay but a vacuum cleaner is now provided in the property. Property Owner
