  • "We stay at Blue Vista every year and the views and internal space for a larger family can’t be beaten."

However over the last few years we have noticed the company is lacking in the ‘luxury’ it promises. The property was NOT CLEAN and fit for purpose. Dirty kitchen, unclean bathroom floor, hairs in the beds and a thick layer of dust. Then when I brought this to the attention of Carbis bay holidays I was made to feel it was my problem and that I was being too fussy. The house keeper came to do a re clean and offered me some cleaning products incase I spot anything else not clean! Hardly the start of a relaxing luxury break. Also the heating and hot water had been switched off so that was another red flag. In my experience from other self catering holidays, toiletries are provided as well as a substantial welcome pack with wines and treats. Carbis bay holidays provided a pint of milk and some chocolate drops. Again, not really in line with their branding of ‘luxury’ They claim no toiletries is due to the environment, but we holiday in plenty of places that manage to provide these in a refillable sustainable away, still giving a luxury feel. The property location and view can not be beaten but it is let down by Carbis Bay holidays. I will be careful to avoid booking with them in the future. And sadly do not recommend. A property like this deserves to be let through an agency who provide a true luxury and customer service to its customers and Carbis bay certainly does not deliver on this. In fact any holiday home luxury or not should be provided in a clean hospitable state for people looking for a relaxing holiday.

  • "This is the second time (only this booking under my name) that I spend time in this wonderful apartment with a group of friends."

We all enjoyed our stay immensely and all facilities provided us with a perfect place to get together. Location could not be better as easy access to all places whatever you wish to do. Good place to leave the car parked up and enjoy walking or make use of public transport. Note to owner: The bracket for the guttering roughly in the middle of the left hallway windows has been blown off. Water is pouring down the windows like a waterfall and this was particularly noisy at night.

Thank you for the kind review, The management company has been informed about the guttering. The owner. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic property However it had the earliest checking out time and have ever come across at 9 am If check in is not before 5pm then you are expecting a full 8 hours before check out and check in which is excessive and does not represent value for money when we have paid for 2 days -actually getting a day and a half Also more info (such as how to get hot water!"

!!) would be useful Finally was bombarded by emails and text message ending after arrival telling me to get ready to leave (even though we had another day) which felt quite shouty

Dear Dr Earle, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. Our check in and check out times are currently being reviewed after listening to our guests and our housekeepers. We apologise that you felt bombarded; as a company we like to ensure that you have all the information you need and in the past have found this gives our guests the time to process and action any points on the 'departure' email. We hope to invite you back in the future. Kind Regards, Owner Relations, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

  • "Firstly I would mention that we are very familiar with the location of this property, and this area of Cornwall generally, as we have stayed in one of the holiday apartments in the neighbouring block (with exactly the same outlook) many, many times."

The outstanding feature of this property, for us, was the full width balcony where we were hoping to be able sit out and enjoy the benefit of the view. However, we were disappointed in the tired and run down state of the balcony. The stucco walls were long overdue for a repaint and the floor tiles needed a deep clean i.e. a pressure wash). We noticed in the visitors' book that other visitors had also commented on this and they said they had mentioned it on a previous occasion.

Dear Mr Barber, Firstly we would like to thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. The owner of Blue Vista would like us to send our apologies and this is the response: Living in The Netherlands due to Covid_19 restrictions we were unable this year to come over to the UK, in particular Carbis Bay. At the Annual General Meeting of the owners on 16th November 2020, it was stated by me that painting of the balcony that year had been forgotten. The development management promised rectification as soon as possible. Apparently this remedial work has not been done. Receiving the comment, I made complaints to the development management company; repair and repainting has to be done this winter. We apologise to the visitors, but the negligence was beyond our control. On behalf of Carbis Bay Holidays, we would like to reassure you that all guest comments are taken into consideration and we action accordingly. We sincerely hope to invite you back in the near future. Kind Regards, Owner Relations, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

  • "This was a home from home, the kitchen area and facilities and utensils were exceptional."

The comfort of the living area and bedrooms were just great. We loved it so much and will be looking forward to returning. If I had one little niggle it would be the parking. For an appartment that sleeps eight people there is only one parking space and nowhere on the surrounding streets to park, thats not a complaint Other than that just perfect, Thankyou

Dear Amanda, Firstly we would like to thank you for taking the time to submit feedback regarding your recent stay at Blue Vista. Its lovely to hear you thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. We are so fortunate to be able to offer parking with our properties, we are lucky to have a choice of car parks surrounding the bay as well, so we apologies that you found the parking a limited, we would always recommend using the local car parks that can be booked via JustPark in advance. We sincerely hope to invite you back in the future. Kind Regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "The condition of the balcony is not great."

Provided feedback on this last year and it looks no different. The cooker is also old and not great. Not heard anything yet about the £100 damages deposit.

Dear Nicola, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback for your recent stay at Blue Vista. We have passed on your feedback to the property owner, its much appreciated that you took the time. We do not have on record that you paid a security deposit; you had a Good Housekeeping Bond added to your booking, which means we put an authorization on your card, similar to when you stay in hotels, we didn't physically take the money. Due to our integration into the Sykes Family, our policy has changed. We sincerely hope to invite you back in the future. Kind Regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a lovely family holiday in Carbis Bay in the lovely sized and well equipped apartment overlooking the beautiful bay."

The accommodation had views to die for and the train to St. Ives was fantastic and used it most days. It is somewhere I would certainly return to, but have to say the upholstery in the lounge was a little tired and needed cleaning. The general cleanliness also required more attention to detail as it is advertised as a 5 star apartment. The outside patio areas also require a little tlc. We enjoyed the recommended restaurants in the area particularly Casita and the great fish and chips We had a lovely holiday making many happy menories with our grandchildren.

The accommodation was amazing, the views just out of this world, we couldn’t have asked for anywhere better to stay to enjoy Carbis Bay and St Ives. I love the fact that this property and the previous one we stayed at a few years ago had such a helpful and comprehensive book of instructions on all appliances etc, and recommendations on places to visit and eat at etc, we ate in a few nights and Blue Vista had the best equipped kitchen we've ever had in a holiday home, even down to sharp chopping knives which is a first at anywhere I’ve ever stayed before too! Thank you for making our holiday extra special, I won’t hesitate to recommend you to friends and family and i have no doubt I will be using your company again in the future!” N.Cospey

  • ""We really did enjoy our week at Blue Vista and in Carbis Bay itself."

The apartment exceeded our expectations, stunning view, very comfortable, spacious, light and airy and perfect for us all (parents, my sister, 3 children and myself). The open plan layout was great and the use of the Wii and having wifi was excellent. The fluffy white towels and duvets made it very homely and the complimentary cream tea, wine, tea and coffee was all much appreciated. With regards to local restaurants and things we did... we LOVED Becks Fish and Chips and ended up getting take-away from there 3 times, we also had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Carbis Bay Hotel, the food, service and wine all excellent. The Tescos a 5 min drive away was very handy for essentials, as was the CostCutters just up the road from the apartment. We took the train into St Ives and back on a couple of occasions and walked there also, it's a lovely walk and well worth doing. We also walked the other way along the path to Porth Kidney sands, a stunning stretch of beach when the tide is out and great to jog along in the morning. We hired kayaks from Ocean Sports on Carbis Bay beach, but generally spent most of our afternoons body boarding, or just sitting and enjoying the sandy beach and Kellys ice-cream! The blue flag beach with a RNLI lifeguards is ideal. We took a half day trip to Mousehole and Lands End - Mousehole is a truly quaint, tiny fishing village, really beautiful with great little coffee shops. Lands End is pretty touristy, but also worth a trip. We took a short boat trip out to see the seals on the Dolly P from St Ives (£10 per adult £8 per child), it's a fast boat around the bays and out to a small island, we saw 6 of the 40 seals who apparently frequent the island, it was fun and my niece and nephew (7 and 9) really enjoyed it. Loved the scones from Pengenna Pasties, although their too crumbly pasties weren't great. I took myself off to the Barbara Hepworth and thought that was great, peaceful and worth a visit (although still found the staff/curators stuffy!). Blue Vista was a perfect base/home for our weeks holiday in Cornwall." M.Moore

The beach is beautiful and brilliant for children so worth the struggle up and down the hill. We went to the Minack theatre which is amazing and saw a show which was very entertaining. We did do take away fish and chips from the local recommended restaurant and ate them on the beach they were very good. We went to Play Zone soft play in Carbis Bay and it was a really good soft play centre even the older kids 13, 14, and 15 enjoyed it!" L. Llewhellyn
