Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for your feedback regarding the consumables. As self-catering accommodation we provide the necessities to get you started however, we do not supply these continuously. That being said we will certainly take your feedback into consideration. It was windy and it needed two of us to manage it. I would recommend new gates. Everything else was lovely.

  • "Great apartment!"

Has everything you need for a weeks stay and my kids loved all the added extras ( games, dvds etc) beds really comfy. Really good location too. 5 min to train station. Parking in the garden was a little tight, we managed to get our Tesla in there though but my mother in law who came with us ended up scratching all down one side of her scenic getting it out one day. Upstairs neighbour is a tad noisy, could hear them opening and shutting drawers at 11pm at night but didn’t disturb us too much. Would definitely come back

Thank you for your feedback we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future. Kind Regards Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, the accommodation is spacious and well equipped for self catering."

Location is amazing for Carbis Bay Beach, train to St Ives a short walk from the apartment so lots of positives. Bedrooms comfortable and bathrooms good size. We would look to book again! Some constructive feedback, we did enjoy our stay but did find a few things slightly frustrating. We arrived later than expected in the dark and rain. The information about the carpark and sign for Sowena were really difficult to see, it took us about 20 minutes driving in and out, looking up the road to find the correct property. There is no mention about the parking space being behind a locked gate, only accessible once you’re inside. Also we were lucky there were a few strong adults, as the gate is really arduous and I was almost hit by the long beam as the wind blew it from its resting place and fell down, while waiting for the car to drive in. I feel like this process is making something that should be quite simple very complicated and tricky. There were also quite a few pieces of broken decking with exposed nails around the garden and we had a 4 year old, so not safe at all. I couldn’t find the bin or recycling area (obviously not intentional or your fault) but the bin was eventually found after walking up Headland Rd and at another property. Also I completely appreciate you wanting to prevent moisture build up etc, but as I’m on holiday, being asked to use chemical spray and wipe down showers after every use is just too much. One other slight negative would be the quite late check in and rather early check out, we felt that it could be either 11am - 4pm or 10am - 3pm. One extra hour either side would I’m sure be appreciated by future guests, I understand the time needed for cleaning but a little compromise.

  • "Had such a lovely stay."

This was our second visit to the sowena property and would definitely return again. We love the location it is perfect for us as a family to get the train to different places in cornwall. Only a few things that maybe could be better next time and that is the cleaning. We arrived and it wasn't to the clean standard of the last time and unfortunately we found disposable vapes in the window sills which is unsafe when we have a child with us. Also empty bottles found under the bed and used ear buds in the drawers in the bedroom. Apart from these few minor things everything else was fantastic and we love the accomadation.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear that you had a few issues during your stay and that the property was not up to the usual standard. We would always like the opportunity to rectify any points so please contact one of the local team on 01736 630015 and we will be able to assist straight away, please rest assured these comments have been passed onto the housekeeper to ensure it does not occur again. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "Great location!"

Fantastically well equipped and very clean apartment. Lovely comfy beds, tvs in every room, great showers with gorgeous toiletries, in fact everything you could possibly need. Lots of outside space and parking for one car but gate bit tricky ... can't really be opened easily by one person and swings outwards so you have to make sure there are no cars going past. Only 2 minor points ... twin bedroom had a slightly damp smell and noisy noise from upstairs but in fairness the people upstairs were only there on our last night so didn't really bother us. We had a truly fantastic week... thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave Feedback following your recent stay at Sowena and we are so pleased to hear you had a truly fantastic week. With regards to the points you raised, these have been passed on to our Property Management team for their attention. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. With regard to the noisy tenants upstairs, we have owned this property for 17 years now, we have only had complaints about noise since this family moved in and there's been very little we could do, however, we have had good news that they have moved out and the landlord of that property assures me that they are no longer going to rent to families with children. • "It’s a lovely property, close to the beach."

It would all be well, it it wasn’t for the noise coming from the permanent resident with two small kids upstairs. They are very noisy and the sound insulation isn’t adequate. This is the only reason why I give this property three stars. Parking is a bit awkward, but very private and secure. You have to open a wooden gate and park in a bay in the garden of the property. If it wasn’t for the noise I would come back.

Thank you very much for your constructive feedback. We are very sorry to hear that the residents of the upstairs apartment were noisy. We will feed this back to the owner of the property to see if there is anything they can do to improve the situation. • "The property was pretty perfect!"

! It was in an excellent location and was very spacious and comfortable for 4 adults and 2 kids. It was so handy having a washing machine and dryer to wash our clothes after going to the beach. The hosts had thought of everything!! Small things like lovely thick fluffy towels, dish washer and washing machine tablets and washing up liquid. They also left gorgeous smelling, luxury toiletries in the bathrooms. All these things made such a difference. We cooked a lot in the kitchen and the kitchen had everything we needed from pots, pans and crockery. Also including board games, the Wii and computer games in the rooms were very thoughtful (even though we didn't use them). I know a few people have complained about the noise from the floor above, but that didn't bother us very much at all and we would definitely return :)

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you loved the property, facilities and your stay! Thank you so much again for your comments and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kinds Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

Brilliantly clean as always. The soundproofing between flats didn’t seem adequate - there was a huge amount of noise from upstairs day and night. Substantial damp problems in the back bedroom not great for respiratory health. Rats visiting the decked area outside the flat so felt we couldn’t leave the doors open to air the property but someone did visit and assess this very promptly. Both games consoles and TV in back bedroom didn’t work this didn’t bother us but might others. The car parking space is awkward the wooden gates are difficult to open and it’s a tight area to get into. The flat feels quite overlooked as well in a residential area where you feel a bit conscious of being on holiday.

  • "A very well equipped property."

Very clean. Good storage space throughout with the asset of a laundry room. TV and games equipment available. Good quality furnishing and comfortable beds. Could improve space for storage of toiletries in the smaller of the two bathrooms. We took advantage of the property-specific parking, but the gate lock could be simplified a bit and perhaps it would help if the parking space were paved. Overall, this is an excellent property in a highly convenient location and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you...

Dear Benjamin, Thank you very much for your comments, they are much appreciated. We will see if we can add space for toilertries and simplify the gate lock. Unfortunately, the lady who lives upstairs with her very young daughter sound like baby elephants moving around. It starts between 6am and 6.30 with the daughter running around and finishes around midnight when the mother goes to bed. We have bad health and wanted a lie in and a relaxing week by the sea. We didn’t get that so we left after 4 days - it was more relaxing at home!

  • ""The Sowena apartment was fantastic, very clean, modern, comfortable and very well equipped, was like a home from home."

It is in an ideal location for the surrounding attractions and Carbis Bay's own beach is beautiful. We enjoyed using the train into St Ives and as a family of six plus a toddler we were able to purchase a return ticket for only £6 !!!!... then could use the same ticket on that day to continue into Penzance !! The Tesco store being just a few minutes drive away in the car was ideal for shopping. We visited the zoo at Newquay but didn't realise that the" waterworld" swimming baths were right next door so would recommend to anyone to make a day of it and if planning on going to the zoo then take your swimwear too and finish off in the pool !!! We went down into Newquay from the zoo in the little train which was better than taking the car to try and park up. The car park at the zoo was reasonable for the full day parking, we never went into the gardens (nice spot for a picnic) next to the zoo but past them on the train and they looked lovely. could probably have spent a full day there ( park, zoo and swimming baths)." During our stay we did a lot of walking so in the evening we just chilled out at the apartment watching tv, reading and having access to the internet was good. There were six of us in our party and not once were we under each others feet it was so spacious. The bathroom was lovely and airy with fluffy white towels - totally spoilt. Cooking was a delight in the modern kitchen, the little touch of milk and wine on arrival was most welcomed - everything was perfect. We do recommend the coastal walk to St Ives, not for the faint hearted but beautiful scenery and definitely walks the cream teas off!!!!. We also enjoyed lovely meals at The Loft, St Ives and The Beachhouse Restaurant, St Ives. Oh and lastly fish and chips at Becks, Carbis Bay (the portions are gigantic) you certainly need to do some walking to not put weight on after that." L. O'Toole
