Description

Honeysuckle Cottage is a traditional fisherman's terraced cottage, full of character, tucked away in the heart of the famous and historic port of Charlestown, just a short walk from the harbour and beach.

With a stone fireplace and exposed beams, this cottage offers delightful accommodation in a picture-postcard setting, perfect for families, friends or couples.

The cottage can be accessed from both the front and rear with a footpath directly outside the front leading to the harbour.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor, a double and a twin, each with views over the garden to the sea.

On the ground floor, you can look forward to curling up in the sitting room, which leads into a well-equipped kitchen, housing all you need for your stay.

Moving through the property, there is a bath within the family bathroom, perfect for a soak after a day on the beach or touring the coast.

Situated opposite the front of the cottage is a pretty enclosed walled garden with a patio, where you can relax and enjoy alfresco dining at any time of day.

With the village and harbour, made famous by television's Poldark, so close, a leisurely stroll around Charlestown will always be a pleasure.

An excellent choice of pubs, restaurants and cafés cater for all tastes and makes dining out a pleasure whilst staying at this charming property.

Also very close by is the exhilarating South West Coast Path, ideal for both casual and serious walkers.

If you are a keen golfer, be sure to spend an afternoon at one of the surrounding courses at Carlyon Bay and Porthpean.

Alternatively, the impressive Lost Gardens of Heligan and the wonderful Eden Project are both within seven miles of the property. The National Trust’s Lanhydrock Estate is less than ten miles away.

A delightful traditional cottage in a wonderful location.

We really enjoyed our stay in Honeysuckle Cottage.

The location in Charlestown is ideal. Close to the harbour and a good selection of places to eat. For example, the Pier House Hotel is well worth a visit. The cottage was clean with a lovely fully equiped kitchen and a good sized bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the night lights provided are an added bonus when moving about without disturbing others by putting the main lights on. The bathroom being on the ground floor was not an issue. However, the stairs are steep and slightly wonky. Noting that Honeysuckle Cottage is an old stone built building with the bathroom in a ground floor extension, the original features of the building, including the stairs, all add to its character.

Cosy, comfortable cottage.

Clean and recently decorated. Everything worked. Very good location. Nice sitting-out area. Reasonably well-equipped. Parking not an issue. We enjoyed our stay here and felt it was good value for money.

Honeysuckle Cottage is in a delightful setting but a picture of roadside (back door) would be useful for arrival.

The inside is well fitted and furnished with comfortable beds and seating. The kitchen and bathroom are fairly modern and well equipped. Our concerns are that the difficult staircase was not mentioned in the rather flowery description of the cottage. There are two different low ceilings above the stairs that required ducking and for those with compromised mobility it wasn’t easy to get up and down. The final step onto the tiny landing we thought was quite dangerous and in need of at least one grab handle. Also a grab handle to get in and out of the bath would have been useful as the taps are at the open end of the bath, not into the corner. The general decoration is in need of quite a bit of TLC with scruffy woodwork, torn and ripped wallpaper, peeling paint on ceilings. To see wood chip on walls in a cottage charging modern property rents was a surprise. Overall we felt that the fifty or sixty year old remodelling of the cottage really needed some consideration and alteration. The staircase especially. Outside the garden is lovely. But the plants around the front door are overgrown and need cutting back. A doormat inside of this front door is essential, but not provided. One other point, the information sheet gives details of free parking further along Duporth Road. This now incorrect as the parking is Resident Permit only.
