  • "Please can you (and holiday cottage let’s in general) start to swap winter quilts over to lighter summer quilts as we hit summertime."

We were sweltering in bed. You could maybe set an annual reminder for when to do the switch.

Thank you for your feedback. We ordered lighter duvets as soon as you made this request, but unfortunately they didn't arrive before the end of your holiday. The lighter duvets will be ready for you to use should you decide to stay with us again. Hope you had a relaxing break. All the best. Property Owner

  • "Apple Barn is a beautiful cottage in the heart of Crantock village."

The location was brilliant, and enjoyed many late afternoons enjoying the peace in the garden after spending the day on the beach. We are a family of 4 and 1 dog and would definitely return to this cottage. We were so lucky with the weather on our stay making it an wonderful holiday.

  • "This is the third time we have rented this property as a couple."

The electronic guide to the property including working instructions to appliances and the general information supplied is excellent. The property was very clean and the local contact (Pauline) really efficient and helpful. The property is well situated in the village, close to the shop, local pub, and eating places and within easy walking distance of the beach.

  • "Nice comfortable property and in a great location to explore the village and surrounding area."

The rules around dogs IMO make the property not dog friendly and the owners should review with a view to relaxing. We had to take our dog down the lane for him to do his toilet business…however I do understand that the lawn doesn’t want to be damaged but if a property is dog friendly then this should be accepted. Pauline (housekeeper) was very welcoming and helpful. Few things need replacing - knives (in knife block) weren’t that sharp and the frying pan was well used and not non-stick any more.

Thanks so much for your feedback. We think Pauline is brilliant too!! We will check the knife set + pan asap. We always try to stay on top of this stuff so thanks for putting it on our radar. When it comes to your other comment, we have a dog too and so can understand why you might find it easier to allow your pet to use the garden for their toilet breaks. However, when it comes to dogs, you’ll hopefully appreciate that we have to balance the expectations of and be fair to all our guests. So, whilst we want to make the Barn as dog friendly as possible, we are conscious that people without a four legged friend also stay with us. This is why we ask our guests not to let their dog use the garden as a toilet - otherwise the grass wouldn’t last 5 minutes and there’s the risk of unpleasant surprises being inadvertently left for others to find (we do our best to check the garden on each changeover, but dogs can be sneaky!). For similar reasons, we want to maintain the standard inside the Barn, which is why we request that dogs are kept off furniture etc. Believe it or not, when we stay at the Barn, we follow the same rules and take our dog to the lane to do her business. She is also restricted to a dog blanket on the floor (no matter how much she pleads to sit with us). We hope this explains our rules on dogs. Fingers crossed, both you and your pet feel able to visit us again. Take care and all the best. Family Burton Property Owner

  • "Apple Barn is a beautifully appointed property."

It is extremely clean and comfortable. There's ample crockery and utensils in the kitchen. The open plan lounge and kitchen makes the house feel bright and airy. The welcome pack and flowers were much appreciated. It's in a great position being only minutes to the pubs and shop. The beach is a leasurely 10 minutes stroll. Allocated parking is a great asset as that could be difficult in the busy summer months. Pauline was helpful and we couldn't fault the property. We did take our little dog with us who would have been able to get through the hedge if left unattended so I would say the garden is not totally dog proof. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property.

  • "Very comfortable cottage in a great location."

Would definitely stay again. Excellent communication with Property Manager, Pauline, and also with cottage owner when we needed to sort out a couple of small issues soon after arrival, ie electricity tripping and slow draining shower. Both issues resolved quickly.

  • "Apple Barn is a brilliant 2 bed cottage, really well kitted out and maintained."

The owner and Pauline both got in touch prior to our stay to ensure a smooth arrival and checkin. The location is excellent, a 10 mins stroll to the picturesque Crantock beach. The village has a couple of pubs a shop and cafe, so local options available although as we went in peak season it was competitive to get a booking to eat anywhere. The washing machine was broken for most of our stay which was an inconvenience but Pauline helped by providing extra towels and a goodwill gesture was offered of a partial refund which was appreciated. Overall, a great stay, helped by a brilliant week of sunny weather. Would definitely recommend.

Pauline was very helpful & would highly recommend this place. It’s a 10 minute walk to Crantock Beach and has parking for 1 vehicle. The only things it is missing is a outside tap and fans for the rooms - it was very warm!

  • "This was a delightful cottage, fully renovated, comfortable, clean and well equipped."

We felt 100% covid-safe! The garden was lovely and it was even closer to the beach than we had expected. All set in the perfect village. The Jam Jar welcome vouchers were a pleasant surprise and an opportunity to savour some delicious local delicacies. The whole booking process was seamless and we appreciated being able to share the hire with family when we were forced to cut our holiday short. The only thing I missed was an outside tap and hose to wash off the sand before entering. A very lucky find and a must return-to destination if we ever find it available again! Thank you for a splendid stay!

  • "Apple Barn was a lovely cottage."

Extremely well equipped and super comfy beds. It has a lovely garden to sit and relax in and enjoy the sun. It’s also a real bonus in Crantock to have a parking space for the car right beside the property. The owners have also produced an app which we down loaded prior to our visit and it gave all the relevant information required for the cottage and our subsequent stay. It was excellent to have everything in one place, from directions to get there, right through to departure. No more sifting through the old style manuals left in properties to find information! We had a lovely week, despite a very mixed bag of weather!
