  • "Our second visit to Seagrass."

Good location central to the village. Nice property with plenty of room, good amenities and large, tidy garden. Property starting to look dated, inside and out and in general need of maintenance. Overall stay would have been great had it not been for a faulty immersion tank leaving us with no hot water in the bathrooms for the entire week !. Despite the very best efforts of the management company this was not fixed until the day prior to our departure. Symptomatic of the maintenance the property is in need of I believe. Sykes Cottages were impossible to contact and of no help in resolving the issue either.

  • "Second time here, did not disappoint."

Did a lot of walking from the property, not far from the coastal path and beaches. Eight adults and two children, plenty of room for us all, good sized garden for kids to play. Games room is an added bonus. Lovely open plan living area and good size and well equipped kitchen.

Thank you for your kind words. we are delighted that you enjoyed Seagrass and beautiful Crantock as much as we did. Hope your third time will be even better! Property Owner

Fully equipped kitchen which was amazing as we ate in most nights. Perfect location. Would highly recommend. Only fault is there is no hand rail in showers - I stayed with an elderly relative who struggled a little but other than that, it was great.

  • "Our 4th stay and booked already for June 2025, great improvements with new appliances, beds, paint job etc."

To improve, 3 more gardens chairs is needed, a small wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom opposite the bathroom rather than hooks over the door. (there is room) And a few more clothes pegs for the line. Only small things, otherwise brilliant.

  • "Great communication and support from Ann (the property manager)."

Clean and well presented property if a little dated in parts. Loved the open plan living room, great log burner, TV etc. Kitchen relatively well equipped. Bedrooms downstairs ok. Large, good bathroom and shower downstairs. Huge parking area. Negatives. EV charging would be useful. Also WiFi was very poor in ground floor bedroom area, probably because of placement of the BT router in an enclosure on the first floor (easily fixed by moving the router or using WiFi access points). Good location close to village center and beach.

  • "We had a lovely time at Seagrass."

It’s comfortable, warm and always had lots of hot water, particularly needed after a cold, windy walk! Really pretty village location, although the steep walk from the beach certainly worked off any calories consumed at the great village pubs. The house had everything you could possibly need; comfy beds, comfy sofas, good WiFi and the upside down nature of the property afforded great views of the countryside. Would highly recommend Seagrass.

  • "Overall a nice property, starting to show some wear though ."

We had issue with no hot water in kitchen and dishwasher plugged in with extension lead, as a issue with previous guests . Electric also tripped a numerous times while there and kettle died in process so had to boil pans for water. Was offered electrician out but didn’t want to stay in waiting for them especially on holiday . Fridge freezer down stairs has rusty sharp edges which we caught our fingers on and lots of broken doors and very noisy. Washing machine fine , tumble dryer useless gave up on it . Into the upstairs room the carpet and fraying and trip hazard so should be looked at so close to the stairs . Then lastly I know it covid but there was no cleaning products what do ever except fairy liquid, you want it clean but leave no supplies wouldn’t need much and cheap enough to supply. Don’t expect to go shopping for these and not due to covid as we have stayed in other properties over the pandemic, Sykes, aspect, blue chip air bnb and all supplied . We did enjoy our stay , we wouldn’t let those issues spoil our break .

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay but were a little surprised to hear your comment on the property showing some wear; this has not been mention in any previous guests’ feedback. It is difficult to arrange for tradesmen to come out on a Sunday. However, our housekeeper organised for an electrician to attend the property during your stay and she would have been more than happy to wait in at the property for his arrival, so that he could have rectified the issue with the dishwasher and electrics during your stay. A plumber and an electrician have now dealt with these issues. Had you made us aware that the kettle had died during your stay, a new one would have been purchased. We have not found any sharp edges on the fridge freezer and are unsure of your comment referring to the many broken doors and very noisy. The tumble drier needed the filter cleaned, our housekeeper does this on a weekly basis during each changeover but if the tumble drier should be used a lot during a guests stay, it will need an additional de-fluffing. The upstairs carpet, has been checked and found not to be a trip hazard. Fairy liquid plus some dishwasher tablets are provided for the start of your stay. We were advised for safety reasons regarding children not to provide cleaning products but guests are more than welcome to bring their own with them. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. It was good to see the mattress in the front bedroom had been replaced but my sister stayed in the room at the back and said the mattress was that hard it hurt her back. One bedroom also does not have a wardrobe which leaves a lack of space for those staying in that room. In all the Seagrass is a great property in a good location, a couple of tweaks will improve it for next year. On a separate note, we had an issue with a toilet and Ann was a pleasure to deal with and sorted it straight away.

The house was freshly decorated and exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved the views from the upstairs lounge. The only improvement we could possibly think of would be a hot tub or perhaps a slide or garden swing for the little ones. Very close to the beach at Crantock. We will most likely book again as we all enjoyed our stay.

It is really well equipped and there's a lovely view from the upstairs lounge. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit comfortably in the lounge and the kitchen area is nice and big with a good sized table. The utility room is very useful and the bathrooms are nicely done out. The location is perfect with a short walk to the beach or pub. There are also plenty of nearby beaches just a short drive away. The kids enjoyed body boarding down the sand dunes! The games room was disappointing as was the mattress in the front double bedroom which definitely needs replacing! Would highly recommend the house though for any family/families wanting to visit Cornwall.

  • "As a group of six ‘over sixty’ friends we had a wonderful blustery week at ‘Seagrass’."

I had originally booked it for a three generation family holiday but had to change our plans because of a very early new arrival. It would have worked equally well for the family, however. As adults it was perfectly positioned for all of our plans, from St.Ives to Padstow to The Eden Project to stunning coastal walks. The house itself is beautifully modern and the ‘upside down’ open plan nature of the layout is a real winner. Even on a stormy Saturday the lashing of rain on the floor to ceiling windows was dramatically romantic! The kitchen was excellently equipped (although The Stove cooker was a little complicated!) and the bathrooms very modern. Linens were excellent and the house cosy and well insulated. An enclosed garden remained unused by us but would be great for children. We were too busy to take advantage of it and the weather wasn’t quite conducive to barbecueing. Crantock is a lovely unspoilt village with a great village shop and local pub. The beach is stunningly beautiful although I would say that it isn’t an ideal beach for young children because of the tidal estuary. They would, though, have fun on the sand and in the sand dunes. I would highly recommend ‘Seagrass’ for any time of year if you are a lover, as we are, of Cornwall.

The view from the lounge area is amazing. It’s ideally situated to explore Cornwall, and two pubs and little shop just down the road. A little further up the road the other way is The Bowgie Inn, where you can sit and admire the view in the evening. The beach is a good walk down hill, probably best to drive down especially if you’ve got lots of stuff to carry. Would definitely stay again.

The property

This superb, uber-cool family property sits just beyond the sand dunes at Crantock beach.

Completely refurbished to exacting standards, Seagrass offers reverse level accommodation, and is stylish and vibrant throughout.

Making the very most of its countryside vista and distant sea glimpses, the property has wonderful floor-to-ceiling windows and a Juliet balcony off the sitting area; a fabulous spot to sit a while in the fresh sea air.

During winter, the cosy wood burning stove turns the sitting room into a snug den, perfect for watching wild and windy storms thrash against the shore.

The immaculate kitchen is chock-a-block with high-end appliances and has an enormous dining table big enough for the whole family to gather together.

On the ground floor, each bedroom is neutrally decorated with colourful highlights, ample storage and crisp linens.

Seagrass is a true family home-from-home; the owners have thought of everything to make your holiday the best yet.

A converted garage offers a fantastic games room, and the house has a selection of children’s toys as well as an outdoor shower and storage for bikes and surfboards.

Outside, there is a large enclosed garden with a lawn and a raised deck; ideal for young families and pet owners.

The village of Crantock is just outside Newquay on the picturesque north Cornish coast.

Its beautiful sandy (and dog-friendly!) beach with excellent surf is just beyond Seagrass, a hop and a skip across the dunes.

There are a number of restaurants and pubs within walking distance; we recommend going for a morning walk and stopping by at the Fern Pit Café on the way home for one of their renowned lobster sandwiches!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £300.
