  • "Thank you for a lovely stay at Penpoll."

The property is lovely with a great setting on the river. Almost everything had been thought of to make our stay comfortable. There were a few minor points - but nothing that wouldn't lead me to book again. We were only three adults - but the lounge and dining areas weren't really set up for four people to sit comfortably. The beds were quite high and the mattresses hard - and the duvet was quite thin - although fine for us in the warm weather we were lucky to have. Otherwise - everything was lovely - and I would definitely recommend to others.

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We do have winter duvets but as the weather was still warm we have not changed yet. However there are blankets in the wardrobe which you could have used if you were chilly. Unfortunately the mattresses come down to a preference and as they are quite new are likely not very soft. I hope it did not spoil your rest too much. In terms of the lounge area, I agree it is not the largest but the sofa sits 3 comfortably and we do have another seat under the TV area. As you know the dining table has seats for 4. We are glad you enjoyed the location and hope you enjoyed the peace and quiet! Many thanks Property Owner

It was so peaceful in a beautiful location! The cottage was well appointed with everything that we needed! The decor was very tasteful and the welcome basket most appreciated! We would love to return one day!!

    !!

So sorry that the lack of heating impacted on your stay - we tried to resolve it in the short period you were there and it has now been sorted. We know that there was hot water for your stay and as the weather was fine, we hoped the lack of heating would not impact on you too greatly. We trust you enjoyed the rest of the amenities and had a great time. Property Owner

  • "This was our second time in Penpol."

A bit disappointed this year the welcome pack was just some dry scones !! Certainly different last year. Windows/patio door were dirty. Really dirty under door mats. We would go back as it’s a lovely house lovely position but as the owner is selling it don’t suppose the opportunity will arise.

It is disappointing to receive your feedback. Within our complimentary welcome hampers the food, including scones, clotted cream, milk and jam are bought fresh on a weekly basis so should not be dry. In terms of the cleanliness of the property, the housekeeper does a thorough job and we do not usually receive this kind of comment so it is surprising but will ask her to double check under mats. The windows are cleaned on a regular basis, but unfortunately being positioned near the Creek, it is difficult to keep the residue off them completely. Regarding the house sale, I am not sure if you received my message but I did reach out to you to let you know as a returning customer that it is still very much available and if you wanted to make a booking for next year to contact either me or Sykes to arrange. Even if we did sell though, the house is built as a holiday home so it is likely any new owners would continue to let it. Please do let me know if you wish to arrange a further visit in the future. I am sure we can accommodate you. Property Owner

  • "A lovely comfortable holiday let."

Decking to sit and watch and listen to the birds along Little Petherick Creek. Enough space so 4 people were not trip over each other. Positioned along the Saints Way, so walk out the door turn Right and in 2 miles in Padstow. Very busy, but take the foot ferry to Rock, and walk the coast path to Polzeath, back via St Edoch Church. Bus 11 also goes through the village every hour...not always on time Journeyman lovely food, but need to book as only small. Only thing to beware of is that the only place to dry wet walking gear when raining is the bathrooms. We would return

Thank you so much for the feedback and we are really pleased you had a good trip. If you do return in the future, we do keep a dribuddy in the storage cupboard which is ideal for drying clothes in the poor weather! Property Owner

Penpoll was a lovely little cottage It had everything we needed beautifully furnished The weather unfortunately was raining most days, but it was December I would love to return in the summer when you could enjoy the outside area a lot more A much better place for summer Also the best pub/ restaurant was closed But the house was soo pretty

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay! It really is a beautiful place during Spring and Summer, especially with the high tides and the wildlife! We hope to welcome you back in the better weather Property Owner

  • "What a nice little place-it could be!"

It needs a lot of maintenance inside. The tabs are not fitting to the sinks, they are much to short. Washing your hands is quite a challenge! A lot of fittings are falling off-either the plastic shower linings, fittings in the hand wash sinks or other little bits. Everything is quite dusty-not to mention the windows from the inside, where spider webs had to be removed first! Cooking is a challenge because the cooker hood has never been cleaned-int seems. The frying pan should be thrown away because it’s totally scratched and the surface is coming off. Not to mention the fire alarm that started beeping because of empty batteries. I could go on and on but I’m stopping here. From the outside the house should be cleaned urgently, especially the windows. One thing really appealing is the location! Very nice. All in all we would not recommend this holiday home !

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed and surprised to hear your comments and would have liked to have had the opportunity to resolve any issues during your stay. Everything in the property is brand new, in regard to fittings etc. and we have also not had any issues with our cleaning team. We will look at the frying pan in view of replacing it, as usually checked at changeovers. You mentioned the fire / smoke alarm, which is hard-wired and does not operate on batteries, we can confirm this has recently been checked and found to be in good working order. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was well equipped and in a stunning location."

We have no complaints other than the wife would have liked a plug socket near to a large mirror other than that excellent.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. There is a double plug socket in the main bedroom where the dresser and large mirror are (where I usually do my hair :-) Sorry if you did not find this. Thanks again for leaving your feedback, it is appreciated. Kind regards, Michelle Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Penpoll, the cottage was absolutely superb and very well equipped, a real home from home."

We loved the location right by the riverside and enjoyed peace and quiet by day and stargazing at night. Thank you too for the wonderful welcome hamper, it was such a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. The cottage was an ideal place to stay for visiting the stunning beaches, walking along and admiring the dramatic coastline and also visiting the local towns and markets. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather, so made the most of getting out and exploring along with some days spent on the beach. All in all one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the owners for sharing their lovely cottage, we had a great time making memories with the family.

  • "Given the cost of our holiday rental, a compensation of £50 when one of the two bathrooms was out of action for the majority of our holiday is miserly and derisory."

We could have continued to use the shower but did not and reported it twice and it was not fixed while we were there. We were thoughtful guests and you have not treated us well. It is not our fault that Sykes didn’t take action promptly. We copied you in so they didn’t take advantage of you. We understand that problems arise but you need to ensure prompt action. That is your responsibility. You make a lot of money from these rentals.

  • "We stayed for a week at Penpoll cottage during the summer and we absolutely loved it!"

Location is fabulous, as you have everything you need a short drive away. Loads of beaches to visit and lovely scenery for long walks. The cottage is at the end of a peaceful driveway and it has absolutely everything you might need. It was really clean and cozy, and a we really appreciated the welcome basket left for us. You are given all the information concerning the cottage, and excellent recommendations and suggestions from the owners. The creek at the back was one of our favourite things, as we spent most afternoons relaxing on the deck watching all the wildlife it brings. We will surely be coming back every summer for at least a week, that’s how much we loved it. Thank you so much for everything, Michelle!

  • "The house was very well equipped and spotlessly clean."

Our first evening there was ruined by very loud people out on the deck next door. We contemplated leaving the next day, but luckily they left then and the rest of our week was peaceful, just what we needed. It was fascinating sitting outside watching the tidal creek changing, and the variety of birds who live there.

Apologies if your break was marred but I’m glad the rest of your time was peaceful Thank you and hope to see you again Property Owner
