  • "We had a lovely stay at Honeycrock."

Owners were welcoming, information provided about the local area, and we enjoyed lovely walks from the cottage door to the beach to have a fire in the evening. We stayed in August, and haven’t been away in the summer before. Soon realised if you want to go to the beach you need to be prepared to get up early to drive down to get a parking space. The cottage was within walking distance (adult legs not child!) of Polly Joke and a little further, Crantock, and Bowgie Inn which is lovely for a pint overlooking the sea. As described in the listing, there is NO WI-FI which was absolutely perfect for us for a complete switch off this week. There are board games and books at the cottage. As described in the listing, the lane to get to the cottage is very rough and you need to be prepared for going at 5 mph down a bumpy lane. This did not bother us at all, but if you have a Lamborghini you might want to bear this in mind! All in all what a lovely place to stay and we would be back in a heartbeat! Have already recommended it to friends

We are so, pleased you had a good time staying in Honeycrock. Thank you for your lovely review and recommendation. Property Owner

  • "The holiday cottage it's self and the surroundings were fantastic really beautifully and comfortable."

The road to get down to it was pretty bad. I would recommend having an SUV or a bigger car. And the other thing would to be about the WiFi. As I didn't get any phone signal at all WiFi would have been very helpful. But we had a wonderful stay and I would come here again in a heart beat. Thankyou

  • "Lovely stay, very peaceful, nice to get away from the hustle and bustle."

Cottage had everything we needed, apart from a shortage of teaspoons! The track is rough, but you get used to it. Crantock beach is beautiful, with plenty of other beaches nearby.

We enjoyed our stay at honeycrock very peacefully owners of the property are very nice people and make you feel welcome little boy enjoyed the farm animals and outdoor space with the swings and perfect location as not too far from the beaches the track too the property it’s pretty tight and bumpy which we was worried about but it wasn’t to bad once we got used to it and the chances of meeting an oncoming vehicle is very low as there are not many properties there

  • "We loved our stay at Honeycrock cottage."

The owners are super friendly (and Molly the dog) and a lovely cream tea awaited us on arrival. We were aware of the rough trek road before we booked and it did not bother us, I cannot imagine it being a problem for most cars. We didn't find any DVDs or games at the cottage( Maybe due to covid) but we had taken some with us so not a problem. I had no issue with my phone signal and was able to use 4g on my phone (I am with SKY). There is everything you will need at the cottage and its a lovely peaceful location with walks to do. You are not far from anywhere in a car. The hot water is plentiful and central heating makes the cottage very cosy. We would be very happy to stop here again :)

  • "The "farm track" needs work."

..i expected rough terrain but that was an equivalent to a free rally experience. Parts actually scrapped the underneath of our cars narrowly escaping damage. This is the only thing stopping us from booking again

Thank you for your comments. We regularly fill the potholes and do the best we can to make the track usable for our guests. As it is shared with the local farmer we cannot guarantee it will be pothole free, so we ask guests to take care and drive slowly when on the track. We do hope you return in the future. Thank you Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our holiday in Cornwall and were blessed with good weather and were satisfied with Honeycrock cottage!"

Unfortunately we do not feel we can give a high score due to our concerns with the access to this property. Although it said the cottage was accessed by a farm track we had not anticipated how badly potholed and uneven the road was especially as the track was so long in it's distance to the farm and cottages. We did not feel it would be safe to be out after dark as we regularly heard scrapping on the bottom of our vehicle and from the brambles on the sides as we tried to avoid the potholes. We therefore do not feel we could recommend this cottage to a friend or would return ourselves.

  • "Beautiful cottage, very clean and tidy, tea, coffee, sugar & milk provided us with much needed refreshments after a 6 hour journey."

Scones, jam & clotted cream also a lovely welcome. Beds quite comfy, no internet or phone signal but the only one of our party that that bothered was our teenage daughter, we enjoyed the no technology break away. The mile long track to get to the cottage was a bit of a mission every day but it was worth it for the beautiful peaceful setting. Beaches just a short drive away, we visit Newquay regularly and usually go for something nearer to the town but much prefered this farm setting Owners very friendly and helpful, we would highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a nice peaceful break Thank you for a lovely break

The best part was i couldn't access the internet so it was a real retreat! Only a 10 minute drive to beautiful Crantock beach and a short drive to supermarket and newquay. Lovely warm welcome with a cream tea. Can't wait to go back.

  • "This was a lovely comfy cottage in a quiet location with only the noise of owls hooting at night."

It had everything we needed apart from a corkscrew(!) and only 7 clothes pegs but we could live with that. The owner Carol was so helpful even though she was on holiday herself. The long and bumpy track to the farm is tricky but we loved watching for the bird of prey (buzzard?) on the telegraph poles as we passed each day.

  • "This cottage is a little hideaway from any noise or people, it's a great location for getting about and especially for crantock beack/hollywell bay."

Just one note the road to the cottage is a little bumpy so I wouldn't recommend a sports car to use. The hosts are very amenable and friendly we enjoyed our time there...

Our cottage is situated in a beautiful and tranquil area, yet close enough to all the usual activities that our children hope for...beach, sea, surf and some amazing pubs and restaurants nearby. We most definitely recommend Honeycrock and booking through Sykes Cottages ensured the whole process was free of any stress too!

  • "It is a lovely cottage in a great countryside location with friendly conscientious owners."

Beds were comfortable and facilities provided were very good. Excellent for young children to enjoy a small farm environment with animals etc. Also excellent for walkers like us as various beaches can be accessed with a 2-3 mile walk over lovely countryside and well maintained walking paths. We only used the car 3 times in the week. The nearest shops etc are a mile or more away so food planning etc is needed, and a trip to the pub is best combined with a nice walk. We were lucky with weather and went out each day but if it had been bad we would have been happy to enjoy the cottage more. Very glad we did not book the modern chalet on a caravan site that we were considering.

The property

On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a double and a triple family bedroom, and a bathroom where you can enjoy a relaxing soak after a day exploring Cornwall.

This cottage offers a kitchen, perfect for preparing picnics and a comfy sitting room with a dining area.

The sunny private patio is a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the quiet of the Cornish countryside.

Colgrease Farm Cottages

Colgrease Farm Cottages are in a converted stone barn adjacent to the original 18th-century farmhouse, in a wildlife haven, not far from the lovely village of Crantock, Cornwall. These delightful holiday homes are reached by a 3/4-mile-long unmade farm track, set away from the hustle and bustle of the villages of Cubert and Crantock. Part of a 10-acre smallholding with sheep, chickens and sometimes pigs, special consideration for wildlife is taken, and guests can enjoy the pretty surroundings and watch the animals grazing in the fields. You may even see buzzards and kestrels flying overhead and hear owls hooting as the night draws in, as well as seeing bats start their nightly forage. There have been recorded sightings of 15 different butterfly species and over 60 species of birds over the last 10 years, with other wildlife in evidence (although harder to spot). There is also a badger sett on the farm and foxes are around, as are stoat and deer which can both be spotted occasionally; if you look very carefully all our common reptiles are here too. Of course, in the natural environment specific wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but that does not take away from the scenic base for your next self-catering stay. To help preserve this wonderful habitat the whole farm is completely non-smoking. The Farm is 1.5 miles inland from the Cornish coastal path with access to the beautiful local beaches and seal colony that basks on the rocks off the headland between Polly Joke and Holywell. As the cottage is located in mid-Cornwall all the usual amenities and attractions are not too far away either. All this and more, with a holiday at Colgrease Farm Cottages.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
