  • "Higher Bolenna is a lovely house with magnificent views across Perranporth & beyond."

Beautifully furnished with a bright and airy feel and plenty of room for everyone to find some space. The pool table was a massive hit esp as the two tvs were really difficult to use and we only every got 2 channels working. Some small points: When we arrived the clothes horse, bin & coffee machine were all broken (a new bin arrived in our final days) and the bins outside had all been ripped apart by gulls so looked a real mess. Only 2 small toilet rolls were provided by Sykes for 6 people for a week! Not what you expect when paying such a high premium. The main bedroom bed is very creaky so could do with replacing and as described the steps up into the house are very steep especially up to the porch ( my mom did fall down them so do take care). The rooms were comfortable & spacious with each having a sink which does restrict the space alittle and add no real value as the two bathrooms are more than enough. The kitchen dining room is fantastic and fully stocked with all you need and the house has been finished to a high quality standard. The beach and town are a short walk down the hill and there are a number of pubs, shops etc including a wonderful bistro No4 and an outstanding butchers. The gardener came on the last day which was a shame as looked so much nicer mown and tidied but we really enjoyed sitting out front on the garden furniture every morning for a cup of tea soaking up the stunning Cornwall views. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Thank you so much for your super helpful feedback . We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay overall and like us, loved the views , the house and the area -, and we agree the Bistro No4 and the butchers are amazing. I am sorry to hear that your mum fell on the steps - they are very steep and I will ensure the property details clearly state this - Higher Bolenna is not the right holiday property for anyone with mobility issues or small children due to the different levels in the garden and the steep steps. The cleaners had told me that the bin was broken after our last guests left so I ordered one straight away to replace it , thank you for taking receipt of it and putting it out. I'm really sorry to hear the coffee machine was not working, we had been there for a family / owner week at the end of March and as we like to start every day with a coffee on the deck we would certainly have known if the 'essential' coffee machine was not working- I have ordered a replacement (and replacement washing basket ) and so hopefully they will be in place for the next guests. The seagulls are a nuisance in Perranporth, and will attack any bags left out within the blink of an eye, during our stay at the end of March I emptied and washed out the wheely bins , so I can only apologise for this and assume that the previous guests did not follow the instructions to ensure that waste is put in in the wheely bins not just a black plastic bag which is an open invitation to the seagulls. Luckily , so far we have not had a problem with waste but I will endeavour to remind guests to put any waste into a wheely bin as they leave. After April, the gardener comes twice a month to keep on top of the garden which grows prolifically in the warmer months, unfortunately, your stay probably coincided with a monthly visit - we will keep an eye on this, maybe we ask him to come twice monthly from March- it was tidy when we were there at the end of March, but I guess it had had 2 weeks extra growth after that for your stay and he does a great job of keeping it tidy making it look lovely.. I will also request more toilet rolls as 2 for 6 people for a week does seem rather stingy ! I had bought a pack of 12 during my stay to keep stocked up, but obviously if only 2 are provided these will not last long at all. We would love to welcome you back again, and once again thank you for your very helpful feedback. Property Owner

The Pool table was an excellent touch and we had many nights playing a few games. All the facilities were top notch and the comfort was second to none. The only drawback was that we only went for one week instead of two.

Where you’ll be staying

PERRANPORTH

Newquay 9 miles; Truro 9.5 miles.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.
