  • "Fantastic location for exploring Looe, Fowey, Polperro etc."

Everything was clean and freshly decorated and the view from the balcony was beautiful. Loads of options for eating and drinking in town. Would recommend the Sail Loft which is almost next door and has a beautiful deck, that is a real sun trap. We also ate in Ye Olde Salutation Inn, which was fantastic. Would definitely return.

  • "A fabulous apartment right in the centre of Looe with a balcony overlooking the River Estuary."

100yds from shops and pubs. Beautifully decorated and fitted out to the highest specification. 2nd floor so stairs but a rail to help but don’t take too much luggage. All in all loved our stay. Joe and Grace Elliott

  • "We had a wonderful stay in Looe staying at Harbourside retreat."

The convenience of the stay is that its very central and have access to amenites like great cafes and pubs all around that would only take a 5 min walk tops. And ofcourse the close proximity to the beach which we loved. The flat is on the 1st floor overlooking the harbourside with the idyllic houses on the hill opposite, which was a fantastic view to get up in the morning to. The flat was overall very clean and tidy. Beds were really comfortable and the flat was well faciliated- it even came with a chest of board games - which is ideal for a rainy day! There were a few things that could have been improved for an overall better experience. The towels provided were shredding lint everywhere and was getting into our clothes and on our skin. The bathroom also just came with 1 toilet paper and for 4 adults staying 2 nights, we thought the stay could have provided more, granted that most stays in the UK do. Regardless our host was very nice and responsive to any queries over the phone. If we were to return back to Looe (which is likely as we had alot of fun) we would definitely stay at harbourside retreat again!

  • "Wow, what a find!"

We booked this last minute online, and the agent was so friendly after an error on my behalf. She even called afterwards to check I had managed to resolve it, which was completely unexpected but really appreciated. We stayed for one week, 2 adults, 3 children and 1 dog, and this place was perfect! On entry there is plenty of space to leave shoes, jackets and beach equipment. Up a few flights of stairs and we were at the top, which had the best view by far! The layout is amazing, with loads of space for the family to share. The entire place was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and had so many little thoughtful details throughout. The games box was a huge hit, especially following late nights and grey, lazy mornings. Then as soon as the sun came out, we were central to everything. The harbour, beach, shops, pubs, restaurants and car park were all within easy walking distance. The kitchen and bathroom had plenty of towels and enough essentials to get you by until you had settled in. On our last day I rang the number provided just to touch base, and the lady I spoke to was so down to earth and lovely. Although we had no issues or requests during our stay, I really felt that had we needed anything, she would have been very helpful. I would recommend this place 100% and would definitely stay again! The only thing worth mentioning, and by no means a negative for us, is that there are a few flights of stairs to reach the apartment. Our old dog managed the first flight before happily accepting a lift for the rest! So depending on your mobility, this may be something to consider, but for us it was absolutely fine and more than worth it for the location. If I was weighing up the extra stairs against being further away from everything, hands down I’d pick the stairs!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. I'm absolutely delighted to hear that you and your family, along with your dog, had such an enjoyable stay. It's lovely to know that you appreciated the space, cleanliness, views, and thoughtful touches throughout the apartment. I'm especially pleased that the games box was a hit and that the location allowed you to make the most of everything the harbour, beach, shops, and restaurants have to offer. Thank you also for your kind comments about the booking process and the team. It's important to me that guests feel well looked after throughout their holiday, so it's wonderful to know that this came across during your stay. I also appreciate you mentioning the stairs for future guests. While the climb isn't for everyone, I'm glad you felt the fantastic location and views at the top made it worthwhile. Thank you again for your glowing recommendation. It was a pleasure to host you, and I very much hope to welcome you and your family back again in the future. Warm regards, Lisa Property Owner

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
