  • "Thank you so much for a lovely stay at the Cow Shed."

Such an amazing find perfect for visiting the superb coastline in this area. The accommodation is cleverly thought out and very well appointed we had everything we could possibly need during our short break. Your recommendations in Information Book were invaluable in helping make the most of our time here, much appreciated! We wish we could have stayed much longer but hopefully this gives us an excuse for a return visit! We loved Porthtowan Bay. We were lucky enough to have a wonderful sunny afternoon here before checking in on our first day. Plenty of parking at the Pay and display car park just at the bottom of the hill to the right (we missed the [P] sign on our first approach & had to turn round & come back) and loads of room on the beach given that it is July school holidays. We tried McDonald's Farm for dinner on our first night - 20 minute walk. Great Pizzas although we were a bit unlucky with the weather as drizzle had set in by this point. On Day 2 we parked at Park Head N.T. car park and did the circular walk down to Porth Meor Cove, Pentire Steps Beach - Bedruthan Steps. Park Head car park. Absolutely stunning coastal scenery. enjoyed a traditional steak pasty on the beach from Porthcothan Stores for lunch - amazing! We then headed for Mawgan Porth for a well earned pint the Merrymoor Inn and enjoyed the beach views. On Day 3 we parked at Constantine Bay (very limited parking there so we paid to park in the field a bit further up the road) and did the 6 mile walk around Trevose Head, taking in 4 of the 7 bays. Constantine, Booby's Bay, Mother Ivey's & Harlyn. Highly recommended.

  • "I had the pleasure of spending three wonderful weeks here in this quiet and peaceful cottage, enjoying perfect weather."

I highly recommend the stretch of coast to Mawgan Porth, the Bedruthan steps, or the bus ride to Padstow. My batteries are recharged and tomorrow I'm setting off on foot along the SWCP. I am grateful for the precious time I was able to spend here in Engollan- and specifically The Cow Shed. Many thanks! P.S. The little hedgehog was there too :)

Wot a lovely little place the only thing was there was no TV which was ok but when it's you and dog it's a bit too quite

Pleased you enjoyed the peace and quiet- we do offer a Bluetooth speaker/ radio, but aside from that, it is a break away from it all! Property Owner

  • "Fantastic week for scouring the beaches for crab and playing in the sea."

I even managed to fit in 3 beaches in one day! Loved my little homestay with lots of shells in the garden, especially when Mr Hedgehog and Mrs. Mouse came to visit!! Also loved all the walks around The Cow Shed and beyond. Will definitely be back if mummy and daddy let me!! Think we are all tired now and somewhere to sleep for a few days. P.S. Watch out for Mr Hedgehog behind the gate at night time!!

  • "Such a lovely hideaway - very peaceful and cosy."

Everything you need for comfort and practicalities. Such a wonderful coastline within a few minutes drive - amazing swathes of flowers at this time of year. So lovely to hear the birdsong around The Cow Shed. Porthcothan beach wonderful. Thanks for all the thought that went into setting this up. All best wishes.

  • "So glad we found this hidden gem."

You have obviously spent a great deal of time and thought into what you have to offer. We have loved staying here and exploring the beautiful local area. Many thanks.

  • "In a lovely quiet spot very near some beautiful beaches."

There was all you neede in the cottage with some extra nice touches. It was a comfortable bed, but the sofa was very uncomfortable- not a proper sofa. I would recommend this cottage for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.

Many thanks for your reviews- we’re pleased that you enjoy the area as much as we do! Thanks also for the feedback about the sofa. It’s actually a chaise longue- so very popular with those people who want to put their feet up, but I can appreciate it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, This is our first season running the Cow Shed as a holiday let, so we’ve listened to the feedback and are just about to update the sofa and cane chair with 2 big, squashy, comfy armchairs- hopefully a lot more comfortable! We do hope you can return next year and you can enjoy the new armchairs! Property Owner

  • "Need to put more comfortable stools to breakfast bar better sofa and chair ..."

Need to put more comfortable stools to breakfast bar better sofa and chair shower would be quite difficult for elderly

Thank you for your review and suggestions. Unfortunately, breakfast bar stools can be a little uncomfortable for any length of time. We do have plenty of cushions for padding, but we will look at getting some more for the stools. As you say, the shower is quite difficult for the elderly with mobility issues, which is why we’ve added a small step, should anyone need it. As the photos show, there is a high step into the bath, so it is not suitable for anyone with serious mobility issues. The good news is that we’ve ordered two large armchairs, so hopefully, guests will be able to enjoy them in the next few weeks. Thank you for your suggestions, and we hope to see you again soon! • "We had a lovely peaceful week in the "Cowshed"."

The weather was good, so a few days on the beach. So quiet and private up here, also we had everything we needed here. Lots of birds visiting the garden and plenty of birds singing. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • "We had a lovely stay here."

It is in a great location for exploring Padstow and the seven bays. The information in the cottage folder was helpful and informative. The outside space was very nice, sadly to chilly in the evening for us, but it was lovely to have breakfast out there in the morning. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedroom was comfortable, a good night sleep was had by all. Having no TV was a great way to switch off and the addition of the radio was brilliant. Personally I found the sofa and the wicker chair in the lounge area uncomfortable. But overall we enjoy our stay in a cosy, peaceful cottage. Thank you.

Weather could have been better so it was always nice to come back and dry off. We particularly loved the privacy and wish we could have made more of the outdoor space - the rose bush came into full bloom while we were here, which was a real treat. Thank you.

Everything we needed and more! Lots of lovely little touches and so much provided for our arrival. Wonderful stay. Mawgan Porth has more than enough for our short stay- and we can't wait to come back. Thank you so much!

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, the facilities within the property were brilliant."

We have stayed in several different cottages and always bring, cleaning bits and sugar, tea etc, but the cow shed provided all, there was even shower gel and shampoo. The property does not have a TV, but this did not impact on our stay. The location gave easy access to various towns, most around a 30 minute drive. The Cow Shed was spotlessly clean with a lovely outside seating area. The photo’s on the website suggested we were right next to a beach, but the drive to the nearest beach was around a 10 minutes. We were even able to walk to another house to purchase fresh eggs! We would recommend anyone staying there, great for a couple who want to get away from their busy lives, peaceful and quiet! Feel recharged following our stay
