  • "Great property in a fabulous location."

Really good space indoors and a nice garden. Loved the doors opening onto the deck. Gorran Haven has a great beach and a few facilities without feeling too touristy. Would definitely stay again

Thank you for your feedback and I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Garden House. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kate - owner Property Owner

  • "Spent 4 weeks at the Garden House, really nice place, super comfy beds, great showers, easy parking, great decked area, for those who may be wary of narrow lanes ignore your sat nav and use the road past Heligan Gardens to get to and from the property otherwise you’ll end up going through Mevagissy which is one car wide in places."

Limited bus service from the village green right opposite with a timetable near the old phone box which is now the jigsaw puzzle exchange.

Spacious and clean and safe for all the family. Well placed to search local places like Gorran Haven, Mevagissey, St.Austell and Pentewan Beach which is great for kids and adults!

  • "Really comfortable and well designed house, perfect for a family get together."

Everything you need for a self catering holiday. Quiet location with easy access to beach and coastal walks. Need to be aware that opening days and times of the few local facilities that there are can be subject to change at short notice.Be prepared to do a lot of driving if you want meals out or to do some shopping.

Thank you for your feedback and we are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Garden House. We appreciate that Gorran Haven is indeed a little bit remote but we feel that adds to it's unspoilt charm. If you would like to visit again please note that there are supermarkets in Truro and St Austell that will deliver groceries to the house. The Barley Sheaf in Gorran, which is a 10 minute walk away, has recently been taken over and serves exceptional food - highly recommended. Property Owner

  • "On arrival, this house exceeded our expectation."

After living in it, we found the walk in shower, in the main bedroom, had no area to put shower gel, etc. The new tv had very bad interference and we had to only use Netflix. We found childrens toys/crayons under and in the sofa, which had some bad staining. Underneath the floor mat by the bifold windows, had not been cleaned. Also, food residue in chairs around dining table. We loved the position of the house, close to beach and beautiful walks, although some of the lanes are very narrow. This was mentioned on the details of house. Recommendations in house book was spot on.

Well placed for us to walk the SW Coast Path section from Portscatho to Polperro.

  • "Great property, I would definitely stay there again."

Whilst there was a supply of coffee, tea, and scones, which was very nice, it could have used a couple of dishwasher tabs. We tried to clean as we could but essentially no cleaning products.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that the usual starter pack which included dishwasher tablets was missed on this occasion. We look forward to welcoming you back again to Garden House. Property Owner

  • "We had a truly wonderful stay at The Garden House."

The weather was extremely temperamental but as the house was so comfortable, we didn't mind staying in at all! There were lots of games, books and DVDs available to entertain and the living area and bedrooms were like a home away from home. When the weather did clear up, Gorran Haven beach was only 5 minutes walk away and we ventured to Mevagissey one morning, which was only a ten minute drive. Perfect for adults, children and pooches. Would love to stay here again as 3 nights was just not enough!

  • "Loved this house."

It was extremely comfortable and of a very high standard in our opinion. We truly felt it was a home from home. It was so clear how much thought and consideration went into this holiday let to make it as comfortable a place to stay as possible. Every possible thing had been thought of, from video games and board games for the children, through to the very well stocked kitchen equipment. I celebrated my 50th birthday at this house and it really was the treat that I had been looking for. Thank you!

  • "We stayed at the Garden House for a week in May 2019."

The town of Gorran Haven is lovely and the local shop is very handy. We had a pleasant stay at the house but it is definitely lacking in some of the basics. We ended up having to buy things like bin bags, washing up liquid and sponges as they weren’t stocked. The coffee machines are also pointless as there are no pods to fit in unless you buy your own. Not big things but not what is implied in the description of the house. We would probably bear this in mind if we were thinking of returning as the prices do not reflect a less than basic house. It was clean and did the job but would think again before booking for our stay next year.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We provide all guests with a welcome pack of household and cleaning essentials which should be enough for the first couple of days. However as Garden House is a self catering property we do not provide any more than this. We also provide a Cornish cream tea to welcome our guests which we hope you enjoyed on your arrival at the house. We do hope that you choose to stay with us again. Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely."

Only points I would make are that the property seemed to be newly refurbished or new to the holiday rental scene as a few little things were missing (even the wi-fi password written down on the welcome book/guide was wrong, I had to get the password from the router). Firstly the living room area has excellent folding patio doors but they provide very little privacy as they don't have any curtains/blinds. At times it felt a little uncomfortable when it was dark outside and you had the lights on inside. Secondly the property had very little cleaning facilities/products such as cleaning spray, hand wash/soap, washing up liquid etc... We had a young baby and a dog with us so keeping things clean became difficult and we ended up going out to buy some cleaning products. Lastly we only got 3 rolls of toilet roll for 1 weeks stay and as the property can sleep up to 6 people it's unlikely to last 2 days. Again we went out and bought some more toilet roll within the first 2 days. Overall the property was excellent and would definitely recommend to anyone and we would be happy to stay here again also.

About the location

Mevagissey 3 miles.

Once a crab fishing village, Gorran Haven on the south coast of Cornwall is ideally placed to explore the many beaches and coves in the area. Gorran Haven has a small sandy beach set behind a traditional sea wall, connecting with the longer Great Perhaver beach at low tide and is popular with families. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust and is readily accessible from the South West Coast Path that passes through Gorran Haven. Within walking distance are a number of more isolated beaches and the 370 feet high Dodman Point, rising above Gorran, which is thought to be one of Cornwall’s most dramatic headlands, and the cause of many a shipwreck. From its gorse-covered heights there are views across Veryan Bay to the west and Vault Beach to the east. Alternatively, you may wish to walk the coastal path to the harbour village of Mevagissey. Near Gorran Haven, in a beautiful setting of woodland, stream and pasture, is Caerhays Castle, an informal 60-acre garden on the coast near Porthluney Cove. Nearby attractions are the wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project, Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum and the cathedral town of Truro, with an excellent range of quality shopping and dining.
