    Loads of space. Very comfy beds and quality bedding. Super new kitchen. Great location with 5 min walk to beach and bars etc.

  • "Wow! From the minute we walked in we were delighted by this immaculately clean, spacious and light filled house."

    It had everything we needed for our weeks stay with 6 adults ranging from 20 yo to 60 yo. Brilliant beds and bathrooms. Wonderful homely lounge and spacious kitchen for cooking family meals. The BBQ area was lovely but unfortunately it was a bit chilly in the evenings so we make use of it. The warm outside shower was a godsend after surfing. We have stayed in Polzeath in numerous places over many years and hands down this has been our favourite. The brilliant quick walk down to the heart of Polzeath via the path between the house and the Valley Caravan Park. So easy to reach the beach and shops and cafes. The Oystercatcher pub and restaurant is a 5 min walk away, lovely food and local beers. And within 10 mins you can be on the coastal path either to Pentire point and beyond or to Daymer Bay, Rock and ferry to Padstow. We will definitely be back!

  • "Delightful bright and spacious property."

    Lovely size back garden which enjoys lots of sunshine. Wonderfully close down a track to the main polzeath beach and few shops. To the owner….. would recommend a hook for the back door leading on to balcony to hold door open. Also replacing all saucepans with stainless steel pans as the present ones are badly scratched non-stick. Our stay was very enjoyable as the location of the property meant we could leave car in drive and walk to the beach or to Rock etc. . We also had lots of sunshine which is brilliant for a family holiday.

  • "This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the property so would definitely recommend."

    Only suggestions: Please get a 4 slice toaster. A fridge with water dispenser would be great as cold tap runs warm in hot weather. Chairs on balcony need replacing for something sturdy and comfortable. Please get some wooden spoons!

Thank you also for taking the time to share your suggestions. We've often wondered whether a 4-slice toaster would get enough use, so it's certainly something we'll consider. A fridge with a water dispenser is a great suggestion. Unfortunately, it would need to be sanitised between every guest stay and require regular specialist cleaning, so we've decided it's not the most practical option for a holiday rental. We do know the cold tap can run warm during hot weather – we believe the pipework was originally installed in the same void as the hot water and heating pipes, which doesn't help! We completely agree that the balcony is an area we'd love to improve in the future. We'd like to make it larger and update the furniture, it's a more substantial project that will take a bit of planning. Regarding the wooden spoons, we've found they inevitably end up in the dishwasher despite care instructions. As wood isn't ideal for the intensive cleaning required between guest stays, we've had to choose utensils that are better suited to frequent commercial cleaning.   • "The property was great for us and a good location, but, in the end, we were only 2."

    However, we are not sure whether it would have worked for 8 e.g the dining table. When we arrived, we opened the door to the balcony, but could not relock because the handle was broken. We had no contact with the owner. We finally managed to contact Sykes the next morning and they were helpful in arranging with the owner for a workman to come to look at and confirm the problem. But no resolution before the end of our stay!

  • "For a four bedroom property that sleeps up to 8 people having a kitchen dining table that can only fit 4 people comfortably is disappointing."

    6 people can fit round of it with one at each end however one person has to be squashed. No chance have more than 6 people.

  • "We had a great stay at Surf Break."

    Location is perfect, quiet and just a short walk to the beach. House is great, very comfortable and well equipped. We had a few maintenance issues, but quickly sorted. Minor feedback to make it even better: 1. A lemon juicer would be great. 2 The coffee machine pods are an unusual size - couldn't find them in supermarkets 3. Option for a high chair and cot would be great.

    Really good to hear you had a lovely stay in our property, we agree it's in a great spot! And the warm weather this year has been a bonus. We did have a juicer so will check the inventory at the end of the season. Unfortunately, Nespresso Vertuo pods have to be compatible, but there are a couple of cafetières so hopefully not a major issue. John Bray do provide assistance for baby & toddler equipment so please ask them in future & I'm sure they will be very helpful - this gives assurance for guests that the equipment is safe and properly maintained throughout the season too. We try to be proactive with maintenance and our housekeeper had alerted us to a potential issue so we had it checked; so hope it didn't inconvenience you. Property Owner

  • "We couldn’t find the grill pan."

    We couldn’t get the coffee machine to work with the coffee pods provided/left by previous user. The house was excellent. It was a hot sunny week and the house stayed cool and was very comfortable. Outside shower, laundry brilliant. Kitchen well equipped, pizza oven trays would be useful. We all loved the house and the location was perfect. Woodland walk down to village well used. We read the house info folder which was helpful. But minimal instructions for using appliances but we worked it all out. We would love to come back and we feel it is worth every penny of the rental price. Thankyou.

    We're sorry you had trouble finding the appliance instructions, but glad you were able to figure it out! The instructions are in the kitchen and utility room, but since you were unable to locate the grill pan, it's possible that past guests moved them. We don't provide coffee pods - we do encourage guests to bring their own in the "welcome email" sent out prior to their visit. We're really pleased that you liked the property and thought it was a good value; we want to offer a well-equipped property at a reasonable cost, so we're thrilled when guests take good care of it.   • "We were very pleased to find that the property is just the same as the photos show, other properties we have stayed at use original photos which lead to disappointment."

    We were not disappointed, the property was clean, spacious and had everything needed for a wonderful holiday. Only grumble was regarding the toilet seat in the main house bathroom which was loose. We appreciated the Prosecco and biscuits. A surprise was the filled tea, coffee, washing machine pods, dishwasher tablets and hand soap. Super handy for local shops, pub and beach and if you don't want to go out loads of games, books and a wonderful garden to relax in.

  • "We had a wonderful week."

    Best weather I have ever had in many years of going to Cornwall. We enjoyed the house very much. I had two small grandchildren 3 and 4 and they were experts at unlocking the front door from the inside. So it would be good to have some sort of a high lock on the inside just to be sure they couldn’t get out without someone seeing them. Not sure how you could do it. Other than that we found it very comfortable. I enjoy cool night but I think was a little too cold for A baby of eight months, I realised I could have rung John Bray but the week flew by and we kept forgetting during the busy days! We would definitely take it again!

    Thank you for reviewing our property, you were very blessed with the weather! The locking mechanisms were updated to allow easy escape without a key during a fire (Fire Regs). We will discuss this at our next fire safety review. The heating is on 24hrs but is lower overnight at 17/18 degrees, we would be more than happy to help with this in future. Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
