  • "The property is lovely, well equipped and in a great location, nice views but could do with redecoration throughout and one settee is getting very tired, so much so it is uncomfortable to use."

Instructions for use of the cooker are missing and what to put in bins and where to locate on collection day are vague. We did use the washer and feel it needs attention as clothes were taking hours despite using short cycle and they came out very wet and we could not find any clothes pegs. At this time of year the cleaners need to take particular care in removing cobwebs as there were many on arrival. Parking was OK but part of bay 1A occupied by a boat on arrival and later a small car.

  • "Bella Vista was absolutely ideal for our party of 6 which included a 2 year old and 2 little dogs."

Everything was provided, enough cutlery and crockery so that the dishwasher could be used. Lovely bedlinen and towels. The view from the garden was absolutely amazing and you could walk to the beach from the road outside. Our only gripe would be that the shower floor does overflow a little but I'm not sure what could be done about that. All in all a fab stay.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Overall, we had a lovely stay in Bella vista - great location and a short walk to the beach."

Well equipped with everything you would need for your stay. However, the accommodation’s cleanliness could be significantly improved e.g. lots of cobwebs, critters, dirty shower tray, kitchen utensils unwashed, and some mould throughout the property. If this was rectified, the property would receive 5 stars all round.

  • "We had a wonderful time in this holiday property."

It is well situated with lovely views over the bay and walking distance from Polzeath. It is very well-equipped with everything that you could need including an extensive library! We really appreciated the tea, biscuits, jam, milk and bread supplied by the owner. A kind gesture, which was very welcoming. Thank you owner! We are thinking of returning it was such a lovely, convenient, pleasant place to stay. M and E

  • "The property is in a great location, close to the beach, coastal path, shops and restaurants."

The enclosed garden was great for the dogs and the view of the sea from the patio was lovely. Whilst we were not expecting luxury, we felt the property was a little disappointing and very ‘tired’. There were patches of black mould on the walls and we had to remove lots of wood lice from the toilet and bathroom upon arrival. We noticed on the Wednesday that there were springs hanging down from one of the sofas and we also reported to the agent that the shower was blocked, causing the shower tray to overflow ( despite the use of the plunger provided). As we only had one day left, we agreed that this would be sorted after our departure in order that future guests did not have the same problem. In spite of this, we had a fantastic week.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very pleased to hear that the location of the property suited your needs and that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some maintenance issues, your comments will be raised to our property quality assessor maintenance team. • "A very enjoyable stay."

Fantastic views and the property was well equipped. The only thing that I would say is that a couple of weeks prior to our stay we were informed of the recent refurbishment of the bathroom where the bath had been replaced with a walk in shower. We chose this property because it did have a bath. We have a 4 year old who only goes in a bath and doesn’t go in showers. The set up therefore differed from that we based our decision to book in the 1st place and made washing our 4 year old for the week more problematic. With no bath you are effectively ruling out bookings from those with small babies and young children. If it were me, I would have knocked the bathroom through into the WC next door to create a big bathroom which could then easily provide space for bath and shower basin and wc. Yes you would lose 1 wc but for a property of its size I don’t think you really need 2 toilets side by side…. The shower did begin to leak across the bathroom floor towards the end of our stay which we phoned John Bray holidays about.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are sorry there was an issue regarding there being no bath in the property but we do hope to welcome you back to North Cornwall again soon. John Brays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

  • "The flat is ok for a winter let."

There are walks from the property and dogs are allowed on the beach Nov - March. The kitchen works well and is well equipped. ( but the table is too big and the chairs don’t tuck under so there is no space to move around and cook if anyone else is there) The tv is outdated and the dvd player doesn’t work. The listing needs updating to reflect the new bathroom which has a great shower (but no bath). The property is too small to accommodate 7 people .

So nice to have the views. It had everything our guests required. Our adult children and their partners/husband stayed there for a family wedding in the area. It was ideal.

  • "Great location and the outside deck area was a lovely sun trap."

The newly installed kitchen and step in shower were lovely -website should be updated to reflect this. It was difficult to heat the sitting room without turning the kichen into a sauna so we spent more time in the kitchen than expected. The twin and bunk bedrooms had a very damp smell to them which didn't get better as the week wore on. Despite checking on parking space there was no defined parking for the property as the next door rental took over all the spaces in front of the house (they were told this?) -parking for the property should be better defined, we used the space for the upper flat and hoped no one was in residence. Lastly there was conflicting info on what to do with the keys, I followed email instructions and returned to the key box rather than return to John Bray office.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays and we shall investigate the issue with the heating and damp. Along with this we will update and define clearer instructions regarding parking and the keys. • "Good little property and great location for walking to beach etc."

Only gripe is that the property does not have a bath, only a shower (contrary to the listed amenities and photos) - this is probably fine for most people, but if you’re travelling with young kids (as we were) it did make bath time a little tricky!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. The property has gone under extensive refurbishment and a new photoshoot will be carried out to reflect these changers. We also apologise that our web listing did not get amended to inform yourselves about the lack of bath taps. As always the view from the decking area was stunning. Really spoilt being able to lounge on a sunchair and watch the sea sparkle in the distance. So nice to be able to take our dog with us knowing that the garden is completely secure. We will be back again in 2022.

  • "When we arrived at the property there were no instructions about where to park."

I rang the office and was told I would receive a callback but never did. I tried to call back half an hour later and the office was closed. The property was also extremely dirty. We called and reported this and had to chase for the first two days of the booking before someone came to clean it. The most irritating part of this was that we kept being told the cleaner was coming, and that we needed to vacate the property for a three hour window. The cleaner then hadn't been when we came back so we had to call, chase, and vacate the property again. This means we didn't get to enjoy the property for the first two days. It was a difficult thing to keep doing, particularly given we were there with a small baby.

  • "We really enjoyed staying at Bella Vista."

We had a very relaxed time. We spent Saturday at a family wedding at st Kew and roscarrow farm returning home in the early hours. We simply enjoyed the wonderful weather we were graced with on the fabulous decking. It was great to be able to walk down to the coastal path and enjoy the little coves and sit and enjoy the sunset. I definitely would like to stay at Bella Vista again. We really appreciated the gift of groceries from the owners at the start of the holiday.

Pleasant grassy fields at back of the cafe building also with children play areas and some animals. There is a good food and gifts shop too. The cream teas are fab and decent value
