  • "We had a lovely welcome both from the owner and the welcome pack."

The cottage is clean and in a peaceful setting. However, we were very uncomfortable when we were in the cottage. The suite is low and has no support and we couldn’t get comfortable in the evening. The bed is a great size which is something we always look for and we did sleep ok but again it is past it’s best. We like the location but will not be staying again unless the suite is updated. The signal on the TV was intermittent but that didn’t bother us as we don’t watch a lot of TV. Just to note Byre and Wagon House both have the same furniture. Kind regards

  • "Thank you for a lovely welcome cream tea & wine, what a treat."

The Byre is an ideal place to stay for a couple. It is like home from home, everything you need is there & it’s very spacious with lovely views. It is in an ideal spot to all the places we wanted visit while in Cornwall. We would not hesitate to recommend & make a return visit ourselves. One little thing that could make the stay even better would be a higher more supportive sofa for the older generation, but it does not take away what a great little place it is.

  • "This has to be one of the nicest place I’ve ever stayed at ."

Lovely place! It’s clear the owners put lots of effort into making their guests welcome and keeping their properties well maintained. The accommodation is in a beautiful setting on their grounds ,and in a great location to explore the surrounding area. It’s clean, bright and spacious which together with being well appointed makes it a comfortable & stress free place to stay.

  • "The property was just as expected from the prior information."

We also much appreciated the cream tea and wine which were left for us, together with several other small but welcome small touches. What was omitted from the details was the welcome we had to walk around the owners' fields around the holiday properties. All in all, we had a very enjoyable country break.

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Very clean and in a lovely peaceful location. Only thing we found was the bed wasn't very comfortable. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return.

  • "Fantastic place to stay, very quiet and in a great position."

Accommodation very nice, very clean and the host was very friendly. A nice bottle of Cornish Wine and Cream Tea on arrival which was very nice indeed. The location was ideal as a short distance to Fowey and Looe on the South Coast and not far from Padstow on the North. We had a great time and would definitely recommend a holiday here.

  • "The cottage was lovely."

Great location and the description on the web site was accurate. We arrived to a spotlessly clean cottage with gifts of local wine and a cream tea as well as basics of tea coffee and milk . So lovely and thoughtful. The location is a great base for sightseeing on both the south and north coast of Cornwall. Some great walks around Lostwithiel too. The walk to Lerryn is especially rewarding and you can visit the Ship Inn for a drink. Everyone really friendly in these testing Covid times . We will be re booking for next year

Edward and Nick we’re friendly and very helpful. The welcome of scones, cream and jam did not go uneaten!! The Cornish wine was great with the bbq! The setting is lovely, with a large paddock we walked the dog, Ralphie, around. Everything was spot-on.

  • "This was a last minute booking due to our early holiday this year spoilt by the British weather."

So saw this cottage with just the week we needed ideal. The directions we received to find the cottage were spot on. The cottage has everything you need for a perfect holiday .Edward and his wife had left us a lovely cream tea and a bottle of local wine .This was our first visit to this part of Cornwall its close to the likes of padstow and rock we even went to look for doc martin in port issac. Then there,s Bodmin,St Austall and we even got to Falmouth.Bodmin for all your main supermarkets just 5 miles away. The town of lostwithiel just down the hill with old world charm and a butchers with blackpuddings to die for even if it did come all the way from the north of Scotland.I found this cottage to be a jem trouble is now by telling everyone how good it was come next year booked up ,never mind it was well worth the long drive

About the location

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
