The property

A superb, stone, semi-detached barn conversion, set within the owner's peaceful, farmstead alongside 2 other holiday cottages.

The Byre lies in a scenic, rural valley, a mile from the town of Lostwithiel and a 15 minute drive to the coastal town of Fowey.

An ideal base for a couple to explore Cornwall’s beautiful countryside and coastline.

An immensely comfortable, single storey barn, the open plan living space is brimming with country cottage appeal.

Kick-back after a day’s exploring and relax beside the wood burning stove.

A well equipped kitchen has dining for four and a double bedroom boasting a superking, zip link bed.

Enjoy summer evenings on your private terrace or explore the 9 acres of meadows and ponds where you might meet the sheep (please supervise pets and children).

The charming town of Lostwithiel is well known for its interesting antique and curio shops and has a great range of independent retailers and grocery shops.

Spend the day at the famous Eden Project, its magnificent Bio Domes displaying plants from across the globe.

The coastal town of Fowey, famously linked with the authoress Daphne du Maurier, who, for a period of time lived in Fowey with her family, is a vibrant harbour town brimming with galleries, gift shops and fashionable cafes and restaurants.

A perfect choice for an escape to the countryside or for discovering Cornwall’s best qualities.

About the location

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
