Wagon House

Great location for visiting coastal locations.

Accommodation was very comfortable with everything you need to facilitate a good stay / although we brought everything but the kitchen sink anyway. The owners generously provided a 1st night goody tray with scones, cream and jam and a bottle of wine. The location was very quiet and peaceful. Outside property is block paved garden area which is sufficiently secluded and there are grass areas adjacent to property that can used. We used the paddock (which a small flock of sheep looking on) to walk our dog. We didn’t consider the walk down to the village safe and coming back up was very steep and we didn’t find a walkway. So we abandoned that idea and drove to the village for provisions. The village had plenty of places to dine and handy coop. We drove a little further afield to find a nice pub. Note for owner; It would have been nice if a grass area was accessed directly from the property (although only at end of drive). We felt the paving area could do with a good sweep or hose down as was gritty and consequently ended up with gritty floors inside which we had to keep sweeping, We didn't mind little old farm dog visiting and our dog is very friendly but he did keep sneaking inside property and eating our dogs treats when we were sunbathing outside - and we were concerned our dog might not be best pleased about that.

Lots of wonderful things to see and do. Loved the Hall Walk. What was lovely was returning to a really comfortable property with excellent attention to detail. The welcome pack was very generous . We loved our stay so thank you and we hope to return

Situated in a quiet area with easy access to explore the area. Ed was helpful and the welcome pack included milk which meant we could have a cuppa on arrival. Highly recommend

The owner's welcome was greatly appreciated. The slight drop in 'Comfort' above is not intended as a criticism but personally, as an elderly person, the upholstered chairs could have been a little higher. I find getting out of some modern furniture a little difficult. Overall the location and provision associated with the Wagon House could hardly be bettered.

A really excellent property, clean, comfortable, beautifully located, ideal for a couple with dogs.

The welcoming pack,bottle of wine,pint of milk,tea,coffee,scones,jam and cream, was a lovely touch. Impossible to fault.

It was really nice to be welcomed by Ed the owner and we really enjoyed chatting to him when we arrived.

We would also like to thank Ed for the welcoming cream tea which we really enjoyed with a cup of tea and the bottle of wine was also well received. The cottage is plenty big enough for two people with all the facilities that you need to enjoy a great stay in Cornwall. It has a nice seating area outside which is also a bit of a suntrap in the afternoon and is not at all overlooked. The bed is a really big king size and is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped having the use of a washing machine, dishwasher and a microwave. The fridge is a decent size with a small box freezer compartment. The bathroom was really nice with its walk-in shower although the shower mat was a little on the small side so we had to be careful not to slip as there is no hand rail to grab. We really enjoyed our stay watching the wild life and birds in the garden also hearing the owl hooting at night early morning was great. The property was really clean and provided us with a comfortable and welcoming place to return to after a day out. The cottage was well situated for visiting all the places we love to visit and we would highly recommend this property.

A fantastic place to stay with great hosts.

The cottage was well fitted out with everything we needed and welcomed with fresh flowers and a cream teas. Nicky and Edward were great around if needed. We will definitely use them again when down that way. A throughly relaxing place quiet and peaceful but close to amenities.

furnished to a high standard, spotlessly clean, the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need for a holiday. Extra touches such as fresh flowers, cream teas and wine in the fridge were a real delight. The information pack provided by the owners is fantastic, everything you could wish to know about the cottage, walks, dog friendly beaches, eating out, takeaways and so much more. The grounds are beautiful, and our two dogs loved having a 9 acre field to run freely in. Anyone coming here with dogs just need to be aware the garden at the property isnt secure, but as i said they are free to use the field. We found this gem of a cottage ideally located for exploring Cornwall, North and South, we were really pleased to return here to peace and tranquility as places like Fowey, Mevagissey, Padstow and Polzeath were understandibly increadibly busy. The owners Ed and Nicky made us so welcome, nothing was too much trouble, and we will be booking again. Thank you so much Ed and Nicky.

A lovely cottage in a delightful, peaceful situation.

The hosts were warm and welcoming and left us a delicious crem tea. We will very likely return to this idyllic situation.

We only had one issue and that was the toilet area in the bathroom is a small confined area and with me husband being disabled he struggled.

But with that said it was a lovely holiday.

A wonderful cottage in beautiful surroundings.

We had the pleasure of a wonderful welcome pack, much needed after a long journey from Kent. The property was well maintained and very clean. Very centrally situated for visiting the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Duchy Garden Centre etc. Our host was friendly and readily available if there were any problems. Would highly recommend.

The property was comfortable and well maintained, the surrounding gardens were very neatly kept, with lovely views from the cottage.

The owner was most helpful, gave us a warm welcome, an excellent cottage, really enjoyed our stay.

Cosy and comfortable, and had everything we could possibly need. The owner, Ed was lovely and welcoming, and the cream tea and fresh flowers were a lovely touch! Our puppy, Merlin, particularly loved running around the big field, and then once the sheep arrived he loved his walks in there, watching the sheep and the fish in the pond! Wagon House is a little gem which lived up to all expectations.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped, plus a lovely seating area outside to enjoy the sunshine. Perfect place for a couple who just want to get away and chill out yet close enough to some lovely places to visit.

Beautiful little barn conversion in a lovely location.

Lovely friendly hosts. Everything you might need was included in the cottage from kitchen equipment to towels, logs for the fire, cream tea on arrival with a bottle of wine and flowers in a vase! It was warm and cosy with a private outdoor space. Just perfect

Excellent cottage and perfect location for visiting the sights of Cornwall

The cottage was as good as we expected and everything was ready for our arrival.

The welcome was warm and sincere and it wasn’t long before we settled in and feeling at home. I wouldn’t mind staying again if we decided to visit the area again some time in the future. It is a great base for exploring the coastal towns.

Very much appreciated the flexability in allowing us to change dates in these difficult times.

Always a delight and a pleasure to visit Cornwall.

The development of the lets at what was a farmhouse at Lower Demesnes have been well built, well equipped and are beautifully landscaped. Great -location to get-away-from-it-all and within easy reach of some stunning parts of the county.

The cottage was very clean, in a peaceful location with easy access to the main roads.

The owners very nice and helpful with scones, jam with cream provided for are arrival together with a bottle of wine. Just one down side the lounge sofa and chair very low, a better supported suite would of provided a increased comfort level.

The patio gets the sun all day. The cottage had everything we needed. Lovely fish and chips from Loswithiel and a lovely pub meal at The Fishermans Arms in Golant. The location is ideal, stunning beaches like Lantic beach and Menabily (Polridmouth Cove) nearby which are dog friendly. Thank you to our wonderful friendly hosts and their two dogs. Well appointed accommodation in a peaceful and picturesque setting.

Easy access to all parts of Cornwall.

Lovely cottage with a clear view of field(with occasional sheep) and trees.

Away from the other cottages and house. A safe garden for the dogs would have made it perfect.

The Wagon House is a very nice property, extremely well equipped and very comfortable.

The only disadvantage, which was presumably unavoidable, was that because of Covid we had to leave at 9.00 am on the last morning

We were so lucky to have found such a beautiful place to stay.

If it was available I would definitely stay again. Perfect location in the countryside, but also ideal location to get to both the north snd south Cornish coast.

The Wagon House exceeded our expectations and Ed and Vicky the owners could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed.

The location was perfect for day trips and we had a fabulous time, even the weather could not have been better.

The owners were very helpful when we had queries and provided us with lots of information about local walks. The cream tea and bottle of cornish wine on arrival was very appreciated. The cottage itself is spacious and has all the facilities you would need (including a full set of cookware which is not always the case with holiday cottages).

The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped.

The location is attractive and very convenient for exploring the area by car. The owners were very welcoming and we would happily go back. My only complaint is that the Sykes Feedback Form does not appear to work properly in Safari on iPad so that I've had to complete it twice!

A lovely property.

Very clean and well equipped. Stunning peaceful locality about 5 mins from Lostwithiel. The hosts were very friendly and provided a bottle of wine, scones and clotted cream on arrival. There are 2 other properties as well as the owners property on the farmstead but we hardly ever saw anybody. Dogs are very welcome and are able to walk in the extensive fields adjoining the property. Lovely outlook from the sitting area and a sheltered patio area. Ideally located for access to both coast and country. Highly recommended.

Excellent hosts and accomodation was superb.

However Sykes cottages failed to mention that there are also 2 other cottages on site plus the field is available for caravan holidays. I was led to believe by your advertising /description that only one holiday accomodation was on site thinking we would experience some tranquility- the reason for choosing Wagon House. Unfortunately other families with children were on site so we didn't have the tranquility we were expecting.We do not travel alot. It was disappointing. I would welcome some feedback and possibly some compensation . We are currently in Bristol - breaking up our journey back to the Midlands. Many thanks Maria Dennis.

The owners are amazing as I contacted them to arranged keys they were very helpful.

I arrived to scones and a few lovely goodies. I loved The Wagon House because it had a beautiful view with patio doors and it had everything you could need for a single person like me and a dog to a couple or even two friends as the beds are link to make a super king or can be separated. I took a lot of things for cooking and they had thought of everything! I will be going again but won’t take as much stuff for kitchen need time! The Wagon House is a single storey (bungalow type) and detached small cottage set within the owners own home with has sheep, a pony, two dogs and 9 acres with beautiful ponds. I thought the area fabulous to travel around Cornwall. I want to thank the owners for being so helpful and the kindness given. I would recommend this cottage.

This is our sixth visit to this cottage and it was as perfect as ever.

Quiet rural location on a lovely farm.

The second time for us(Bill, Jan & Dottie).

It is said of the British weather that you can have four seasons in one day and in the week we experienced all four. Never mind you can not change the weather. The Wagon house was as before, excellent in all details and Dottie enjoyed her twice daily walk around the fields, being fascinated by the Rudd in one of the ponds. A super base to enjoy the wonders of Cornwall.

Cannot fault this great place to stay for a week's holiday.

Despite a wet and cold spell, we were warm and comfortable, close to Lostwithiel and many interesting destinations. Strongly recommended.

Did not know that we were sharing the grounds with other holidaymakers.

This is not the first time this has happened. We knew by the pictures that something was being hidden and only found out 2 days before that there were 2 other holiday lets on the property. I wish that you would be more honest about your descriptions. It is fortunate that we shared with two other couples who kept themselves to themselves and we had privacy facing away from them. We live in the middle of nowhere on a farm and we are not used to neighbours so we are always looking for a cottage away from everyone. Surely we cannot be the only couple who ask for this. I would like to add however that the landlords were excellent and we thought that the cottage was very well equipped and in excellent condition. It's the fact that there is more than one property on the land that stops us from returning there.

The Wagon House was clean, comfortable and very well equipped and the view from the patio doors was wonderful. We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone wishing to stay in the Lostwithiel area and intend to return for another visit. Delicious local honey produced by Ed, the owner.

This is the second time we have booked with Sykes Cottages and we have been impressed both times.

The welcome was amazing, scones, clotted cream, local wine and the property was spotless. It is a very warm little spot and we are sure it would be suitable year round. The cottage is ideally positioned to visit both North and South coasts. Once you get used to avoiding the very narrow roads. Sat Nav should be used with care!

The Wagon house is a charming cottage set within a small hobby farm, the owner Ian is helpful.

Positive - Wagon house excellent in everything describe.

Being allowed to walk around the property's fields with the dog was a very BIG plus. Welcome gifts an added bonus. Summing up a great comfortable base in all weathers, to explore a beautiful county. Negative - Perhaps it was just us, but a beast of a place to find. Perhaps the inclusion of Tanhouse Road in the address, added with the postcode, would help the Sat-Nav, find the location, as unnamed road in Sweethouse, leads you on a not so merry chase. Also you would be brave or foolhardy, to attempt the mile or so walk, along the road from the property to Lostwithiel.

Everything possible you would need is provided.

Very comfortable and a great quiet location for touring etc.

Lovely cosy cottage which felt like home and very well equipped with pretty views over a meadow with a lake and grazing sheep. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Loved the holiday in a lovely location.

The house was very warm and spotlessly clean with everything there you could wish for. The owners were really helpful and could not do enough to help without going over the top. They were there if you needed them. As I wrote in there visitors book, in a quote from darling buds of may, Perfick, just perfick !!!

This was our second visit to the Wagon House and it was great to be back!

The cottage is in a lovely ,peaceful location which is in a good position close to lots of places of interest. We visited Polperro which is a quaint,fishing village well worth a visit. We had a look at some Poldark filming locations of which Holywell Bay on the north coast impressed us the most. One of the best beaches we have been to and dog friendly as well. Polruan, Fowey, Redruth and the Jamaica Inn were all visited and enjoyed as well. A big thank you to Ed and Nicky for welcoming us to this delightful cottage which has everything you could possibly need. We would loved to have lit the wood burner but it was too mild really. Many thanks for the cream tea and wine, very welcoming. We hope to return sometime in the near future. Val and Martyn and Daisy the lab.
