• "We found some maintenance and cleaning issues with Tickeydoo that certainly shouldn't have been there and especially so reflecting the expensive charge of £1337 for a weeks hire."

  Beautiful area overlooking the old quarry lake but guests should be aware that there is a fox hound kennels nearby and dogs barking, especially in the early morning should be expected. The jacuzzi on the patio area is the best feature of the place and even better if the outside area was cleaned cassionslly and the leaves and debris swept up. It would make a huge difference to see it tidy and the plant pots actually supporting some live plants! Inside, the rugs appeared dirty and needed dry cleaning or washing. The extractor filter in the bathroom was so thick with dust and grime that I was able to write "clean me" with my finger. Minor things like replacing the wall clock that wasn't working and providing sharp scissors and a decent size non slip shower mat would make all the difference. The metal oven trays need to be replaced and the oven door handle needs to be fixed. Again, a little thing like cleaning the windows would make a huge difference. We certainly didn't think the high rental charge reflected what we found.

  Thank you David for you review, I know you spoke with my husband about the oven handle and said that it wasn’t an issue during your stay; I can assure you that it wasn’t fixed when you left. I clean all the filters on the extractor fans but with the dust from the drive they do get dirty during your stay, let me assure you they were cleaned before your arrival and the dust; due to the extreme dry weather can not be helped, and thank goodness in the filter only and not Tickeydoo. I will ensure that the sharp scissors are replaced they must have disappeared with previous guests so apologies on that front! The flooring of the shower is non slip, I do provide a small shower mat but could look at a large one, thanks for this feedback, Kirsty Property Owner

• "The area is lovely."

  The drive up is incredibly steep and poorly maintained; large divots pull the tyres. Each time I drove up, I had to mentally prep. The outside space needs to be either totally wild or tidied; it just looks a mess. BBQ has a hole, and the grill was disgusting, greasy, dirty and unusable- very poor. Cheap plastic plants in the walls outside are tacky and need throwing out. Hot tub lid is taped up and looks awful. Lagging on hosepipe to van is coming off and looks a state. Cobwebs everywhere on arrival; I have photos for review. Did not like the owner coming over and asking if everything was alright on 2 occasions. I am not going to discuss my dissatisfaction on holiday.

  Firstly I’m glad you liked the area, at least that’s a start! Tickeydoo is set in a 14 acre disused quarry, so future guests please don’t expect tarmac driveways, and manicured borders, we have no desire to achieve that. Those can be found a holiday parks with static caravans squeezed in next to each other, not a luxury American 5th wheel jutting out over a lake, positioned next to the remaining 2 end gables of the old working forge that would have been used daily when the quarry was operating. Accuracy of list 50% every other guest has said 100% so unsure of the accuracy of this guests understanding. The pipework into the property ensures you have water and electricity it’s essential, it’s covered and placed partially under the decking. I will look at the BBQ on changeover this week, if it has a hole it needs replacing, what a shame the guest didn’t raise this as I have spares onsite so they could have been enjoying some yummy BBQ food overlooking the bottom lake in the sunshine! I personally get lovely comments about being friendly and checking in on guests, maybe this family are normally used to bigger parks with entertainment and neat rows of statics, we have 4 lodges, 1 luxury 5th wheel all with their own hot tubs, 2 lakes and are proud of our personal relationships with our guests, some we now class as friends! • "Lovely and quirky accommodation."

  Very comfortable and well equipped. Air-con was great as weather was very hot. Walkable to local village with a great pub. Kirsty was very friendly (thanks for the scones/cream/jam!), and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

• "We had a fantastic honeymoon at tickeydoo and tor down quarry."

  The view from the living room is breathtaking, the kitchen facilities are great and we loved having air conditioning - our stay was during a heatwave. Swimming in the quarry, sunbathing, relaxing in the hot tub under the night sky and having a great nights sleep in the super comfy bed made our holiday feel like a retreat! We will definitely be back!

• "A lovely, unusual rental."

  The RV is very spacious and comfortable. The quarry it is set in is a beautiful location. It was spotlessly clean and had modern touches. The location is peaceful and private, the only sounds to be heard are the birds singing and sometimes dogs barking at a nearby kennels. The hot tub is wonderful! Kirsty the owner was very friendly and helpful. She was easy to contact and sorted any little queries we had quickly. The property is accessed via some narrow country lanes and is up a short rough track, but this wasn't a problem for us. The location is good for visiting lots of local attractions. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay

• "My husband, me and our springer stayed here for 5 night at the beginning of October."

  We were in the big american RV (Tickeydoo) it was excellent. Overlooking your own private lake, where you could swim, paddleboard etc even fish. Couldn't fault it. Inside the RV was immaculate, everything you need was supplied such as toiletries, washing up liquid etc. Kirsty the owner, who my husband met was very friendly, asking if everything was ok. She had baked scones and left them for us with clotted cream and a jar of jam what a lovely welcome, yes they were yummy. The hot tub was really nice it even had lights over the top, it looked so inviting in the dark. So private and very quiet. We had a lovely time, especially with it being our 30th wedding anniversary. We would highly recommend this little hidden away gem. We would love to come back especially in the summer. What a gorgeous place, especially at sunset, when the quarry really lights up orangey red, it's beautiful.

  Attention to cleanliness needs to actioned as stains on sheets, thick dust and grease on ceiling fan, some drawer interiors not clean, shower tray runners need a good clean

• "We had a fantastic break in Tickeydoo."

  The pictures don’t really do the property, or its situation justice. Spotlessly clean, very spacious, great shower, wi-fi, and hot tub. Bed very comfortable. Never stayed in an RV before, but it’s a credit to the owners.

• "My family and I had a fantastic time here."

  The accommodation was brilliant and the setting was great. The owners were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed making use of the hot tub, and two lakes for wild swimming. I would definitely recommend staying here.
