  • "Arrival & First Impressions The arrival process isn’t as detailed as it should be."

    The handbook includes useful information like parking, but it’s the sort of guidance you really need before you arrive, not after.! One major issue: the outdoor lighting switches off at 11pm. If you arrive late due to travel delays, you’ll be navigating the outdoor path to the cabin in the dark — a torch becomes essential. Cleanliness & Maintenance The cabin is reasonably clean overall, but several details were overlooked: • Cobwebs around lighting and in corners were noticeable and should be addressed as part of routine cleaning. The kitchen had a lot of cobwebs. • The bathroom sink drainage was poor, with debris and black dirt visible in the drain. Which kept coming up. • The living‑area rug is slippery due to lack of floor grip — a simple fix that would improve safety and comfort. Comfort & Temperature The mezzanine layout means the upper level sits close to the roof, and without any air conditioning, heat transfers directly into the space. Even a small AC or cooling solution would make a noticeable difference in comfort, especially during warmer months. The fan does not really help! The corner of the lodge started to let water in once the Heavy showers started which therefore contributed on the decision to leave early. The front double doors had a large gap and seemed to allow some water through. For anyone who enjoys a hot tub specifically for its bubble intensity or hydrotherapy effect, this one seemed to falls short. It’s functional, but not remotely on par with competing portable options, and the lack of bubble power makes the overall experience feel underwhelming. Overall Verdict It’s not a bad lodge, and the setting itself is pleasant. However, for the price, there’s clear room for improvement in both maintenance and guest experience. Addressing a few practical issues — lighting, cleaning detail, drainage, safety, and temperature control — would elevate the stay significantly.

  • "We booked this accommodation at the last minute as another booking had been cancelled with no explanation!"

    We really liked the quirky set up with the beds overhead on mezzanine levels. I’m 6’2’’, but found it ok to get in and out of. Obviously you can’t stand up in the bedroom, but you just adapt. The accommodation was clean, and it was nice to have some biscuits and milk waiting for us so we could have a cuppa after a long drive. Nice touch to have the tassimo coffee machine too, and it also had an air fryer and toaster. We used the oven and grill function on the microwave and it could the food really well actually. A bit disappointing to not have the fire pit, but you have to follow the government advice, so we understood this. The hot tub was a great little addition to the accommodation, and the kids loved getting in after a day out exploring. Things where I think it could be improved- I would have liked to have had some kind of outside space undercover, as the the mornings were usually wet, which meant we couldn’t sit outside with a coffee. Maybe some kind of canopy would be good over the hot tub and front area. Also found that we could have done with a couple of shelves to put things on. We ended up using the table, which then meant we didn’t really have a dining area, although there was a picnic style table outside (on a slight slope though, so your dinner all went to one side)!

  • "Absolutely amazing time away, we had the best stay here!"

    Private area with no interruptions, the kids had a blast and loved the hot tub! Watched the sun set every night with the bbq on the go, it was just perfect and we will defo be coming back!! Accommodation was great too you had everything you need only thing I’d advise is to take a fan as it got hot during the night.. shops / places to eat about 15 mins away if that but 10/10 stay!

  • "We had a wonderful holiday staying at the Olju pod."

    It was a little more compact than expected, but made very imaginative use of the space and contained everything needed for our stay. We were that impressed we are considering buying one ourselves and putting it at the bottom of my daughter's property as a retirement flat. Just one point to note, the heated towel rail in the bathroom does not have a temperature regulating valve and, when switched on, gets extremely hot. This could be a concern, especially for younger children.

  • "I absolutely LOVED the Olju!"

    If I could put it on a trailer and take it home to live in forever I would! The layout and size is perfect. It's perfectly clean and has everything you need. We like making pancakes for breakfast and it was great that the kitchen had a decent bowl, whisk and measuring jug. A lot of places dont have these items. The jammy dodgers were a lovely little surprise. :-) The bathroom and shower is great. Spotless and good size. Beds were comfortable with decent pillows to suit individual preference. The hot tub was such a treat and the location is lovely and quiet. Exactly what we wanted. We didn't get to use the fire pit as the weather wasn't on our side, but i can imagine on a calm clear night this wohld have been beautiful. The only slightly negative feedback is that some people staying for longer than a couple of nights may not like not having space to unpack clothes (this didn't bother us). There's a very helpful book for visitors new to Cornwall offering ideas for places to visit and eat. We honestly had a lovely short stay and we would definitely recommend it. As a rule, we don't like to revisit places as the world is big and there's so much to see - however, this is one place we are already considering returning to for a longer stay. It's definitely worth 5 stars in our opinion!

  • "The property was kept in immaculate condition, logs were provided on request for a small fee, it’s set in a beautiful location with nearby pubs and places to eat."

    The three properties on site are well spaced out giving you the privacy that you require for your time away. It’s peaceful there’s no traffic no noise just cows sheep and the occasional church bells. The hot tub was kept well maintained and clean and was a great feature for the stay!

    Exactly as described, well equipped and extremely comfortable. Complete peace and tranquility in fantastic surroundings. The beds were so comfortable, the heating was perfect for cold mornings and the layout of the pod was such a hit with the kids - it was an adventure all of its own. Would absolutely return and nothing we’d ask to change!
