  • "We had a lovely time at the Stables, the accommodation was nice, it was a nice size for a family of 3 and a dog."

It had a lovely kitchen and living room and downstairs was the bedrooms and washroom. The negatives to the property is that there is no yard for you to sit in, the entrance to the property is the pubs B & B back yard, so it's not very private and have to walk through people having a drink to get in the property. The accommodation is quite damp downstairs but the dehumidifier did help. The washroom the drain when having a shower is not very good. The location of the property to the beach is great, it's 5mins walk and dog friendly. The owners/staff was friendly and asked us through our stay if we needed anything.

  • "Efficient welcome."

Property is set in a good location for exploring West Cornwall with a frequent bus service right outside the door. Using the internal lift takes some practice and patience ( a demonstration would have been helpful); the weather was superb, so we used the outside stairs mostly. Would re-visit.

  • "Booked a last minute break and found this little gem."

Quirky but cosy. Located in the beer garden of the hotel which was ideal as all the people we met while either passing through or going down for a drink were lovely. Dog treats on tap in the bar. Owner made us a kids meal to take up to the house. 5 minutes from the beach. Very relaxed and friendly. Will definitely be back.

  • "The Stables is a great location for exploring the area, situated in a quiet spot behind the Mount View Hotel, just a few minutes walk from a dog friendly beach with stunning views of St Michael's Mount."

The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable and very well equipped with the added benefit of an internal lift. The hosts were very friendly,as was their resident pooch and the scones & cream on arrival were much appreciated, really enjoyed our stay .

  • "We found the property very clean, comfortable and well equipped."

The only fault we found was the bathroom which needs updating as one of the problems was that the toilet was too low for less mobile people. Apart from that we had an enjoyable time and the owner and her staff were very helpful and very nice. If we were to go to Penzance again we would be quite happy to stay there. It was very good value .

  • ""Well it’s advertised as having a small garden ,but all you get is the space under the fire escape which to use you would have to duck under the metal bar that’s fixed there."

" The inside is very damp downstairs where the bedrooms and bathroom are located, the bathroom is very mouldy and needs completely gutting to fix the problems, and needs a large extractor fan and a deeper drain to enable the shower to drain away as the water just soaks the floor. The disabled lift is really old and outdated and is starting to rust, it’s also the only way to move between the levels inside, without having to go outside and use the fire escape to go up or down, so the property could definitely use an internal staircase . The property is situated within the beer garden of the pub, which is not ideal when customers are gathered there while using the pub. We did have one meal purchased from the pub which was very nice and the owners were friendly, and the nice little touches were the cream tea that was waiting for us on arrival and the fact that there were dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid and also some tea and coffee items available. Reviewed by Robert Aug 2020 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above as can be seen is dated Aug 2020. Now in June 2023 it has not had any improvements and certain items within the property have deteriated even further. On arrival there were customers at the tables drinking etc and made no effort to enable us to walk pass with all our luggage and belongings. Many a evening we could not have the door or windows open due to the pub customers being noisy using unpleasant language The external staircase is very rusty in places with bird droppings on the handrail. The description of the property on the website is a candidate for Trade discription. The pictures are far from accurate as they show the 2 bedrooms and bathroom very light where in fact they are dismal and quite dark even in daylight. Reference is made about the shower above and after we used it the first time the water took ages to drain. We contacted the owner who managed to clear the drain, obviously this had not been done for months as it was virtually blocked. With all the bad points it is clearly not inspected by the agents. Cannot understand some of the feedback claiming that it is a desirable property.

  • "The cottage was a lovely place to stay being convenient for all facilities and definitely value for money."

The location was quiet yet a stones throw from beach access. It was also good having free parking on site, something which is premium in such locations in Cornwall. The facilities within the cottage were more than adequate for the 4 people provided for, with tv in each bedroom in addition to the lounge being a bonus! Highly recommended if basic but clean, convenient and friendly is what you are looking for.

The cottage was cosy and just perfect for us. The locals and pub staff could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. They have us lots of tips for places to visit which, as we haven’t visited the area before, was perfect. Thank you for our stay, it was fabulous!

A detached cottage situated behind the owner’s hotel and pub, The Stables lies in Longrock, on the southwest Cornish coast next to a popular beach.

Benefiting from wheelchair access with a lift within the property, and an accessible wet-room, The Stables would be great for a getaway to the seaside for anyone looking to enjoy this picturesque part of the world.

Completed with reverse-level accommodation, the first floor is home to the open-plan living space accessed either via the internal lift, or the external spiral staircase.

Featuring exposed beams and high ceilings, look forward to coming home to this property after a fun-filled day on the beach, and crash on the large cream sofa to watch a film on the TV, or pick up a good book from the selection of books available.

The middle of the room is where the lift comes to when reaching the first floor, with the dining and kitchen area beyond this.

Sit around the dining table and tuck into the complimentary Cornish cream tea, just make sure you put the jam on first!

A contemporary kitchen lies at the back, where you can rustle up some tasty treats and packed lunches to feature on your days out, or cook a meal for the group in the evening, before taking an after-dinner drink out to the courtyard on a balmy evening.

Descending the spiral staircase, or in the lift, you will find the two bedrooms; a double and a twin, both with wardrobes and storage for your personal items, a TV in each, decorated in coastal hues of blue, cream and white for a delightful finish.

The wet room features on this floor, complete with several hand rails in the room as well as a shower seat fixed to the wall.

For a special experience, book in with Cornwall Swimming Horses, where you can ride into the sea in your wetsuit on the back of a horse with no fears of falling off, with special needs riders and those suffering with long term illnesses benefiting from the therapeutic impact of swimming alongside these sentient animals.

Walk along the beach up to Marazion and visit the famous St Michael's Mount when the tide is out, and afterwards, visit one of the restaurants which look out to this amazing tidal island, for a perfect sunset evening views.
