  • "There were positives and negatives of the property."

On the plus side it was very peaceful and had beautiful views. Definitely quirky and just the right size for the two of us. It's looked like a brand new cooker and a dishwasher was a bonus. There was plenty of hot water and the shower was really powerful. It was close to local amenities and there were plenty of lovely places to visit nearby. Unfortunately we didn't have any info on how the appliances worked. No details of rubbish and recycling so we grouped things together as we would at home. There was just one teaspoon and not really enough crockery. One of the dining chairs had a loose and wobbly back that needed repairing or replacing. The slats on the bed kept popping out of the plastic restraints, we had to shove our luggage under them to hold them in place and that's when we noticed a big box of something holding them up in the middle. Some visitors mentioned a lovely welcome pack but we didn't receive anything but luckily we brought plenty with us. Did not meet the owner but she did send a text on the Wednesday to say she'd see us the next day and she hoped everything was ok but she didn't come. On the whole it was an OK stay and we enjoyed our holiday but just an attention to a few details could make this a wonderful cottage.

The cottage is warm, comfortable and is beautifully and artistically furnished. There is so much to see in the surrounding area, we always find new things to do even after coming here 5 or 6 times. Dee is such a warm and welcoming host and the new sauna facility is fantastic. The cottage is in a beautiful location with wonderful views of St Michael’s Mount from the kitchen and easy access to many gardens, coastal walks and beaches. We will definitely be back again. Thank you Dee.

  • "The cottage was immaculately clean!"

The bed was comfortable and the shower was great too. It is a beautiful old school building with so much charm. We loved the garden space which is currently being redesigned and we can't wait to see what comes next. The use of the sauna is a massive bonus. The owner is lovely and answered all our questions. She kept in contact but you also didn't feel like she was with you on holiday. It was so lovely. The location is perfect!! You are so close to everything. There is also a bus that runs to penzance, from Long Lane, and you can go from Penzance to so many of the places you would want to visit - this will be so useful in the summer. We recommend St Ives, Marazion, Mousehole and Newlyn. The beach is gorgeous but there is also a local walk to the cottage which our dog loved and was equally beautiful. It was very dog friendly and he had the best adventures. The pub literally up the road is also lovely and great to have on the doorstep - good food! Even when the weather was less kind to us we had the most relaxing and enjoyable time staying in the cottage, cosy, warm and with the most stunning view. It was a relaxing, enjoyable stay and we will definitely be returning again. I would recommend this to anyone.

great location and ideal 1 bed place to stay Negatives.... no welcome pakage or booklet/info/anything/ details te surroundings, bins,tv,internet ( there was a faded piece of paper in a fish re wifi we found) Place smelt very musty and damp (though no damp seen), could do with a complete makeover Bedding absolutely stink, smelt damp and awful... though wasnt damp. We literslly stunk after sleeping I it and after 2 nights had enough. Asthma and allergies horrendous through staying there. No muctovave, which is fine, but grill took forever and even had no light to show temp, no room in kitchen area to prepare. 2 x small heaters instead if radiators and mid winter. Postcode given in text to arrive different from original email which caused a problem finding it. Just needs updating, money spent on it and nice clean fresh linen and towels and welcome information.... in all over years, worst place had to leave early.

It’s decorated realy querky with chests and lovely decor, the pictures online don’t do it any justice (Even though it looks fab on pictures) On arrival Dee came and knocked on the door and Welcomed us and told us if we needed anything where too find her. We spent Christmas in here and it had everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner. It was faultless and our dogs also loved the walks close by, and the huge secure garden for them too run around in. The pub less than 2 minuite walk Away was realy nice and welcoming with everyone singing Christmas songs on Christmas Eve. We would deffintely return in the near future :D

We find it the perfect base to explore the West of Cornwall which is an area we have been visiting for many years. The cottage is comfortable and well-equipped for two people with a gorgeous view across to St Micheal’s Mount. Do need to be careful with your dog as the garden is not enclosed. Dee is a lovely host, making sure that everything was okay and providing a lovely welcome hamper. Would definitely book again.

  • "We arrived late Saturday and quickly realised there were serious housekeeping issues with this cottage."

Sunday morning I bought rubber gloves and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. KITCHEN: The fridge was warm and the icebox was completely frozen up and unusable. The drainer tray and cooker were dirty with bits, crumbs and dog hairs. There was dust and dead insects on the shelves. Under the sink was a dirty, worn Spontex and an old J Cloth. The oven and grill trays were unwashed with stuck-on food and fat. The oven/grill lights do not work. The toaster was full of previous guests' crumbs. There is no plug or washing up bowl in the sink. The bin was dirty and had no fresh liner although there was one under the sink. BATHROOM: The washbasin had stuck on toothpaste and the bath needed cleaning. The towels were grotty (one was torn) and they smelt absolutely dreadful. Only 1 handtowel for 2 people. The extractor fan still doesn't work (previously mentioned by a guest). There is no bathmat so the floor gets really wet after the shower. BEDROOM: The bed linen did not appear fresh; it smelt very stale and there were stains on the duvet. I questioned whether it had been changed! GARDEN: This looks nothing like the photos. The furniture was overturned and I noticed dog poo. EXTRA BED: We were promised an extra bed to enable my daughter and I to sleep separately and this finally arrived four days after our arrival. This is my first bad experience in 15 years of holiday cottage rentals with Sykes and other agents - I am a Sykes Level 4 Champion Client and I spend at least 6-8 weeks a year on rentals. Sykes contacted the owner, we met on the Monday and it did not go well in the circumstances. She claims the cooker is old but does function, despite no lights - how areguests supposed to know this or that the correct cooking temperature is reached? She claims the bed linen was changed but admitted "the wrong linen was put on" (?) She bought round different linen and left it for me to put on....She brought different towels but all these replacements still smelt unpleasant. She washed the oven trays and left them dripping on the drainer and gave us new cleaning cloths. The dog mess I mentioned on Monday was still there on Thursday... The owner offered us a free night in her other property but I did not accept due to a prior commitment and another night had no appeal whatsoever after this experience. Despite all this we enjoyed our week, Ludgvan has great views and we have spent many weeks around there; Cornwall will always keep on giving and we had wonderful walks on our favourite beaches and the spectacular SW Coastal Path. We can highly recommend the local pub, the White Hart, which has reopened and the new Manager and Head Chef are doing a great job building the business back up again. Also a mention for Kev the hero AA man from Hayle who came out within 40 minutes of call out to check a warning light on our car to get us safely on the road home the next day. This owner blamed all the problems on everybody and everything else and took no personal responsibility. A previous guest has mentioned dog poo and the owner has written a counter-note in the guest book blaming her daughter's dog! There was no apology for our distress and bad experience. After discussions with Sykes I requested £200 compensation, less than half the weekly rental. The owner refused. This property has a good housekeeping bond of £200 - what a shame it doesn't work the other way round! After we had left (!) she repeated her offer by text of another night which I had already made clear was not possible. Sykes advised the only recourse for clients in cases like this is the Small Claims Court. Despite the owner's protestations and messages asking ME to show compassion I am afraid my compassion is reserved for guests, who, like us, hand over considerable amounts of money to owners like her who spectacularly fail to provide the service they promise. Highly unsatisfactory.

  • "The owner was delightful and brought round a lovely hamper on the second day."

But there was nothing when we arrived, no milk, tea, sugar which would have been nice. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work nor did temp indicator light on oven. Garden nothing like photos - very untidy with upturned garden furniture strewn around but worst for me the bedding didn’t look as fresh as it could have done.

The cottage was in a very good location, handy for St Ives & Penzance. Dishwasher was very good. Good selection of crockery and cooking utensils. Almost everything you needed apart from eggcups and scissors. Would have liked a microwave but knew it did not have one. Not quite sure why there isn't one, surely it would save costs on electricity ? Bathroom was very good, nice shower, plenty of hot water. Negatives for us were the the pillows were very old and flat, if we had known would have taken our own. Only 2 bath towels given for the week . Dee quickly sorted out some more when we asked. We received our welcome pack on late afternoon the day before we left. It was very nice but would have been so much better if it was there on arrival. Appreciate you had been away for quite a while. The major disappointment was the garden, it does not look much like the photos. Overall we had a very nice time

We had the most comfortable stay. The cottage is gorgeous. We were a little disappointed with the garden which wasn't as described on the website's property details. It isn't entirely enclosed. We couldn't let the dog out alone or without his lead as he could have escaped onto the main road. Also, it was very untidy and we were surprised to find a pond which was camouflaged by over grown plants and algae. Step slightly to the left on entering the garden and you could be in for a shock! A couple of things should be updated on the property details on your website. 1. We weren't greeted with a hamper of fresh produce and 2. The White Hart pub is closed until further notice.

Hello Mandy, Thank you for your feedback. I’m happy you found the cottage gorgeous and had the most comfortable stay. I’m sorry you were disappointed with the garden not being enclosed. We feel the open space adds to the countryside landscape beyond the old walls. The white Haart pub has new owners and they are reopening very soon. As for the hamper, we offer it to our guests who are staying with us for a week, but you’re right, I should make this clear in our listing. Property Owner

  • "This property excelled all of my expectations!"

It was a beautiful 'space' to relax and enjoy this part or area of Cornwall. I visited with my 19 year old daughter and a little doggie. The location was simply amazing; the view from the kitchen window is of St. Michael's Mount! The other view from the main entrance is of the far reaching beautiful countryside! The walks that one can complete are limitless, one of which can take you down to St Michael's Mount, through a beautiful daffodil field! So close to Lands End, and many other astounding areas of natural beauty. Most of the places that we visited such as St Ives and Kynance Cove were only a very short drive away.I visit Cornwall every year, and this cottage and location is my most favourite, due to the location, and I will definitely be returning, and probably this year. We had good weather while we were there so I was able to enjoy my breakfast outside, there is a provided seating area, and the view that surrounded me was simply breathtaking! There is also a small grassed garden area, good for our little doggie to run freely in. The cottage is so beautifully and creatively furnished,; I loved all of the quirky touches, from the pictures/ paintings on the walls, to the book selection in the main rooms, being the living room and even in the bedroom. The selection of TV channels available to me and my daughter was more than we would normally expect, but welcomed. There was even an I pad supplied, which has been prepared with information of recommended places to eat etc. I was touched by the provision of the I pad and the level of trust that this evidences by the hosts to their guests. It is clear that the cottage has been very lovingly furnished with a lot of thought having gone into the furnishings/decor. Our hosts couldn't have done enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible, nothing was too much trouble. Their input and advice on how we could enjoy the local and surrounding area went over and above what I have previously experienced when I have visited Cornwall, because of this advice I was able to experience areas, beaches that I wouid never have known about. Their knowledge of the local and surrounding area is worth its weight in gold! Made life so much easier for me and my daughter. The bed was the most comfortable ever. The bathroom had heated underfloor heating, such a luxury for me and a lovely touch when one is attempting for the ultimate and relaxing bath! The local pub, which is merely a 5 minute walk was most welcomed, we has a few amazing meals there, to include a wonderful Sunday Roast, but it became our 'local' during the days and evenings where we would wander over for a drink or two staff all very friendly there, was an absolute pleasure. I personally couldn't fault my stay at all it was perfect in every way. I found it to be faultlessly clean, meaning I didnt have to clean anything at all, as I normally would. The dishwasher was a welcomed luxury too! It was warm and cosy, good for chilling out in the evenings! It's probably one of the first times that a cottage or holiday home has felt so truly homely for me in the uk, again, lots of little touches made this possible. I would like to express my extreme thanks to our hosts for such a wonderful and welcoming stay, I will definitely be returning!

  • "The location is superb and it's a wonderful building - the bathroom is good and plenty of hot water, but these were the only things that stopped me from contacting you about a refund & leaving after two days."

....... I arrived to no heating, no holidaymaker information for use of facilities and equipment - no 'goodies', not even a bit of milk in the fridge and a few biscuits..... I'd rung the owner on Thursday as you request but hadn't had the text that they said I'd be sent on Friday. So I'd chased for this as I drove down Saturday but the postcode for their home given in that did not exist and I had to find and refer to your information while en route. I was told when I rang there was actually no microwave so had a last minute change of plans for how I was going to prepare & eat. After phoning I was in some doubt about how long they thought I was staying and indeed whether I'd be in the property in the description. So on arrival the lounge/kitchen window (that wouldn't shut) was ajar with wind and rain pouring in and with no radiators on and with no cottage visitor information I rang the owner. Resulting from that call they had two attempts, but from the Sunday, at leaving an electric radiator for the lounge and they replaced some flower vases that had been spoiled in the dishwasher with some proper drinking glasses. When I rang I hadn't checked out other omissions but still no information or goodies even after they'd been in twice while I was out on subsequent days and the radiators only ever came on from 6.00-8.00pm and about 7.00 each morning, controlled from the house, so bedroom especially very cold - all of which I told them in reply to their texts including that I had thankfully grabbed a hot water bottle to bring with me in case of loss of power in the high winds forecast, so they couldn't have been in any doubt........ Oh and No mainstream TV channels, No washing Machine as listed and only one proper towel and a flimsy hand towel. I managed to dry out the window enough to close it but still the draught comes in. Just one teaspoon, ragged bedlinen and pillows that resulted in neck pain. Bin full when I bagged my minimal amount of rubbish on leaving 'tho no indication what to do with Recycling, nor indeed any 'green' measures....... I never saw the owners, nor did I want to by the time I left. So the experience is not up to the description. For a 'Mid Season' break it was way overpriced compared to others I've experienced. Facilities have not been monitored and I was treated shabbily, so I would like some concession to recognise that.

As an experienced traveller across the UK I was delighted to stay in this gem of a property. Flat 1 is perfect for a couple or a lone traveller. It has the personality & vibe of the owner all over it – bright, colourful & unique. It is well equipped, everything works [!] & has possibly the most comfy bed I have ever slept in. There’s also a lovely garden, a bench & tables, excellent parking space , a fantastic local pub a short walk away & St. Michaels Mount within view. Also note, no seagulls within ear-shot – which as we know is a pain if you stay by the coastal front! The location is perfect for anyone who wants to explore as it’s in a central point & the 2 minute drive to the A30 gives immediate access to all the best locations. Well done to Dee for creating something unique in a crowded market & thank you for the welcome basket too ! Look forward to revisiting again.
