Sild Cottage

We have stayed here before and like the comfort of the beds and the space in Sild Cottage.

It is well situated and has a very pleasant outlook front and back. We are however once again very disappointed by the cleanliness of the property. The cleaner appears to be a stranger to a hoover and feather duster as the carpets were filthy and the place was riddled with thick cobwebs and spiders. The walls were scuffed and dirty, worse was several of the kitchen cupboards were caked in some dried on foodstuff across the fronts It is disappointing and not what we expected after such a large price hike from last year, this is not budget accommodation so the lack of cleanliness really lets the booking down.

Sild Cottage is beautifully kept.

The grounds it is in are lovely, like living in a park. All beds and sofas were really comfortable, and the kitchen was very well supplied with all you needed to cook. I really appreciated having two fridges. The showers were also wonderful especially when it was so hot. I was also grateful for the balls and tennis rackets when my grandchildren came to visit. I did feel more info was needed on how things worked. I couldn't get the hob to work and though Sykes said they would get back to me they didn't . Fortunately the old turn it off at the wall and turn it on again unlocked it. Equally we had many conversations about the TV with Sykes and finally no one got back to me and we never did get it to work. It was spoiling my holiday trying so my family lived without TV ,the whole process put a cloud over an otherwise lovely stay. I would certainly think of returning.

Brilliant place.

Have been to the site many times before but first time at Sild Cottage and will happily stay there again. Central to lots of family attractions and the cottage has everything that you possibly need. Great selection or beach equipment, tennis rackets and a basket ball at the cottage and a good games cupboard too.

We had a lovely stay and would be delighted to book again.

The property was well equipped, clean, warm and welcoming. We sat on the patio most mornings watching a silent robotic lawnmower (which we named Larry) doing a haphazard job of mowing an already immaculate lawn lol. We also saw his brother (Gary lol) on one of our walks through the lovely grounds of the site. There are plenty of places to visit as it’s close to some lovely beaches. The coastal walk from Maenporth to Swanpool is lovely. As is the path from Swanpool to Gyllynvase where we enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast at The Gilly Beach Cafe before returning back along the same path. The only thing the cottage could benefit from is a visitor information book/folder. One that gives local information, suggested eateries, local amenities, doctors etc etc. it also took me a few panicked hours to notice the QR code on the kitchen wall for internet. I searched for the information book but there wasn’t one. It was easy to connect once it was spotted though. We had a lovely visit with no worries at all so thank you to the owner.

It is a lovely cottage in a lovely peaceful location.

This was our second visit and the standard kept and the attendance to any slight issues noted in the guest book are to be complimented. The cottage was really clean and welcoming,parking, although not directly outside is very close and as someone who is a bit over protective about their car it was absolutely fine! One thing to note for the owner, upon our arrival this time every single light was on in the house for some reason? Thanks for the biscuits and milk etc, very much appreciated after a long trip. We will return! Thanks for letting us share this stunning place, even if only for a short time!!!

Having read previous reviews I thought we might have a few niggles.

We should not have worried. The premises were very clean and comfortable. Comfortable beds. Lovely location. No problems with Wi Fi or TV . The property has had a refresh from when photographs were taken. On site staff were very helpful when somebody damaged my car on site. Parking bays are fine however. Would recommend.

The property is lovely and in a great spot on the estate.

It was clean, the beds were comfy and the living area was perfect. We’d be tempted to book again if we had the owner’s details and could book through another route. In fact we asked the housekeeper if it was possible. However, Sykes is dreadful. There was no welcome book so it took days to get the correct WiFi password. We had no mobile signal in the house so we needed WiFi for calls. The difficulty was mainly due to Sykes’ awful communication systems in which they initially refuse to help you, suggesting you contact the owner - not much use of the owner hasn’t given you their number! Don’t bother with Sykes’ WhatsApp, no one replies. The call line ends in them telling you to go online in almost all variations of selections. We asked the neighbouring property who knew the owner if they could contact him but were then sent a password with a typo. I don’t think any of this was necessarily the owner’s fault but I do think it might have been easier if they had just called us to resolve things. Also, the DVD player still doesn’t work but we were fine without it. Hopefully the owner will be providing future guests with their details so things can be resolved quickly.

This is a lovely cottage, good size and well situated.

The furnishings were very nice and (unusually) the beds were very comfortable. There were however some niggles that should have been avoidable; firstly, the property was not very clean, there were huge cobwebs in full view in the living room, dead spider in various places spiders and the carpets had not been hoovered when we arrived and looked dirty. The downstairs room smelt horribly unpleasant, like old rotten potatoes, so much so that we had to buy candles and incense sticks to try to mask the smell. The DVD player didn't work which was very disappointing as we had taken films to watch, as the TV was not a smart model, so Netflix and Prime couldn't be accessed. Had these issues not been present this would have been a 5 star review.

The only thing that didn’t work was the link we were sent to the facilities.

The mirror in one of the bedrooms one side was broken - my daughter took a picture. Other than those tiny issues we will be back next year. Perfect location for us and lovely cottage. Thanks Adele

Great holiday property, well maintained and very clean.

Excellent facilities in Sild cottage. The grounds in Pendra Loweth are obviously well looked after and add to a relaxing environment.

Everything ok in general, a couple of issues that took nearly all week to resolve for one reason or another.

However, our holiday wasn’t spoilt and we would definitely return. The ongoing issues with the bathroom fan and lounge lights are now rectified.

A lovely cottage to stay at, Pendra Loweth is very nice with a stream, gardens and a nice bar/restaurant set up with a small shop area.

Sild Cottage is very well appointed and clean, lovely kitchen area, the french windows open onto well maintained gardens with lots of wildlife. The lights in the main seating area were not working on our visit but it was not an inconvenience as plenty of other lighting made up for it. It was noted that the fan on the family bathroom was inoperative, in fact it sounded like it was sticking so we turned of the isolator to prevent any possible issues going forward. Our whole stay was just great, thank you for allowing us to stay and hopefully we will be returning in the future.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage.

It was very clean cosy and nice comfy bed. The cottage is very spacious and the kitchen very well equipped in a great location. The showers are good and it has everything you need. We walked over the coastal path to swan pool beach. The Godolphin at Marazion well worth a visit for lunch. Tacos at the on-site bar very tasty. Overall we had a super time!

Lovely cottage with quality furnishings and everything you could need in the kitchen.

Only downside was the pillows were of a poor quality and some had an unpleasant smell due to needing a freshen up wash. Overall the house was clean but bathrooms needed a little more attention as there were cobwebs visible.

We always find the cleanliness etc exemplary. The lovely gardens it is set in, the birds singing and watching the Rabbits which had babies was so lovely. We will definitely be back to this beautiful part of Cornwall again. One again Thankyou.

Sild cottage is an absolute credit to you.

We couldn't have wished for a better holiday cottage. You have thought of everything, just like our own home. The Gardens around are beautiful and its so peaceful. We saw lots of lovely birds and wildlife too. No hesitation in coming back to sild at all and I will recommend it to our friends too. Thankyou for a lovely holiday in your beautiful home we have made lots of memories. Xx

Great cottage with everything you need - home from home.

Planning to go back. The holiday park is in a beautiful location with wonderful gardens. Great location to see Cornwall, we saw so much in just a week, even walked along some of the South West Coastal path.

Beautiful cottage with a very well equipped kitchen.

The beds are comfortable & furnishings in lounge too. Lovely open plan layout. Excellent wifi....we had 6 devices connected and all worked well. Set in beautiful grounds with lovely walks all around. The Trelwarren Arms at Buddock did great food but best to book a table. Loved the beaches at Maenporth & Swanpool. We walked into Falmouth most days. Also walked to Penmere Station and got a train to Truro which is a lovely city. 2nd visit to Pendra Loweth and planning a 3rd

Pleased with property.

..1 or 2 things need sorting....height of some mirrors (too high). No shelf in showers for soap!! Dust in corner where standard lamp is, also dirt around rug. Standard lamp and lights over dining table not working. Microwave, toilet brush in shower room and garden table has rust. Otherwise a very nice comfortable cottage. Facilities on site not good and information about facilities and places of interest and directions on site not good (I.e. route to beach etc).

The cottage is in a quiet valley and 10 mins drive to Falmouth and 3 beaches - Swanpool, Maenporth and Gilly!

Did not use onsite facilities (bar or pool) but kids enjoyed playground and tennis courts. Accommodation was fine and comfortable even though cottages quite close to each other the shared garden out back was great for our kids and others to play with each other freely and safely.

Clean & comfortable cottage with good facilities.

A couple of minor comments, there is a hand written note for the WiFi which is incorrect. Tv & digi box could be updated.

The cottage was lovely, had everything you could need and is superbly equipped and presented.

The only fault was the key safe it seemed the key was a little big for it it was very fiddly to close.

A wonderful stay in a very clean well-equipped cottage.

Bookended by heavy showers we enjoyed almost two weeks Cornwall to wall sunshine, real heat, light winds, fresh air, simply brilliant.

Sild cottage is quite simply the best we have rented ever anywhere. Set in a discreet estate in the Maen valley with beautiful landscaped gardens the cottage is superbly equipped and presented, ideal for our requirements (four adults), but would have worked just as well for say a family with young children. Outstanding, will try to rebook for next year.

Cottage situated in a very pretty setting, Clean and plenty of room, everything thought of down to dishwasher tablets supplied, tea towels etc.

Some minor repairs are required.

I would recommend that the owner has a walk around the property to identify them and repair accordingly. Disappointed to see that telephone reception has not improved since we were there 2 years ago. To make/receive a phone call we had to stand outside the front door which was not particularly good as it rained for a couple of days.

The accommodation had all the facilities in place for a lovely holiday.

Everything was beautifully laid out, clean and available, whatever we would need for a comfortable stay away from home. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends. We thank the owner for a memorable stay.

The cottage we booked was lovely, the gardens well kept.

The advertised facilities were not available and no compensation/discounts/incentives were offered. On-site playground, food/bar outlet substandard together with lack of extra parking and information points. As my family and I know Cornwall well and still have family in the area this was not a problem for us, the main interest being good accommodation however the cost of our holiday accommodation (4 units in all) allegedly included facilities we were not provided with. Therefore despite nice accommodation I will not pay a premium for nonexistent facilities.

Very clean and tidy, very well equipef

Sild Cottage was just perfect in location, comfort and amenities.

Our son was just starting Falmouth University and it was really ideal for getting to the Uni. Very well equipped and presented. A great location for touring Cornwall.

The cottage was lovely.

There were 4 adult and a child and we had plenty of space. Really didn't feel like we were on top of each other. I don't think the pictures do it justice and it was really well-stocked. It had everything we needed and more. It was in a really great location for exploring Cornwall and Falmouth is a great town. Plenty of places to eat out. The cottage had a leak and this was dealt with swiftly with minimal inconvenience to us which was great as well.

Everything went smoothly from booking the holiday, receiving the address and directions to finding the allocated parking space, the key in the key safe and the well-equipped cottage.

The cottage was warm on arrival and there was tea, milk and biscuits for us. The cottage had everything we could ask for; a washing machine, plenty of games and books and even night lights in the bathroom. We felt very much at home. We enjoyed the tranquillity, the space and comfort and the stunning area with its many walks. We'd love to come back! Thank you.

A really lovely, quiet place to stay which was very central to some wonderful sights and places of interest to visit.

The house was also most comfortable and welcoming! Our daughter has just started at Falmouth University so we will definitely be coming back!

This was a very comfortable and clean cottage with everything (and more) that we needed.

The location was very quiet and relaxing. This was a very late booking and there wasn't much available but this cottage exceeded our expectations. We wouldn't hesitate to go back to the cottage or to recommend it to others. Plenty of good places to visit in the area including boat trips from Falmouth and various gardens.

Made a great base for us visiting family in Falmouth.

Cottages were very private and the estate very quiet. I wish there had been a few more visitors car parking spaces as we wanted the family to come and have a meal with us one evening but it was a terrible job for them to find a visitor parking space. Also it was difficult to read the number on the parking spaces in the dark. Overall we had a great time.

Sykes Cottages company itself was most helpful during all our dealings with them and made everything very easy.

Staff were friendly. We couldn't believe how true to the photos the cottage was! It was so well equipped, particularly the kitchen for Christmas dinner for 6. I had been very concerned how it would be and it was perfect. Everything went so well and we had a lovely Christmas with all the family. The best thing was finding a tool box so that the grandson's flat pack play kitchen could be constructed for him to play with! So thanks to you and the owners for a great holiday. The Dowlers.

Excellent service from Sykes cottages.

The house was really comfortable, well laid out, having facilities like a washing machine and dishwasher was extremely handy.

The location was really picturesque, and it was so nice to look out on the gardens and be able to watch the birds flying and hopping about.

We think the cottage is brilliantly equipped and so comfortable.

The only thing I wanted to let you know is that the WIFI was terrible - only worked intermittantly - and this could definitely do with being updated.
