  • "Property was clean but could do with a little tlc in places."

Our sliding door to the sea view had seen better days and was very difficult to shut and was rotten just due to weather erosion. Just a good deep clean now and then would help the place. Lots of walkers and cyclists able to view in from the very nearby path which is great for a walk into penzance. Railway not mentioned at all might make people complain. Personally I would stay again like I said just needs some maintanence done to outside and deep clean occasionally in side. One other thing I know we have the old tinterweb but a list of good local pubs ( like the fire engine in Marazion) in the property always helps.

  • "We had read reviews prior to arriving so we anticipated some problems."

We brought our memory foam mattress as the bed was indeed uncomfortable. The patio door had to be lifted in order to open and close and the freezer hasn't been defrosted for a long time...this has been mentioned several times over the last year or so without any response from the owner. The property details folder needs to be updated to tell guests that there is Wi-Fi and to include the password so you don't have to call the helpline to ask for it. On a positive note, the property is in a good location for all the main attractions around the area. Despite the negatives we would still come back.

Thank you for your feedback, we are working closely with the owner of Sail Boats to ensure that all of the points raised are actioned. Despite the issues mentioned we are pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "We were disappointed this time as we had to clean out the freezer compartment of the fridge, completely iced up."

We also felt the oven could have been cleaner. We were glad we took a throw for the sofa as it was rather grubby. While we don’t expect milk to be left the pint that was there was out of date we arrived on the 23rd December and the milk had a use by date of the 16th December. The bearings have also gone on the washing machine making it very very loud when spinning. Overall we have always enjoyed staying in Sailboats but felt this time it was not quite up to the standard we have had in the past.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback and for bringing these issues to our attention. We will discuss the cleanliness issues with the housekeepers. Deep cleaning off the property will be carried out over the forthcoming months, along with planned maintenance which will also address any niggling maintenance issues. We do hope that we will see you again in the near future. Property Owner

We were not warned of this otherwise we would have brought our own. No plastic bags were provided for the towels and bedding at the end of our stay. And neither were there any spare bin bags. The oven was greasy so decided not to use it. The fridge was unclean and the icebox thick with ice which we had to defrost and clean ourselves upon arrival. The mattress was soiled on the window side. For the weekly rent, it was hardly justifiable. Could you consider fitting a towel-rail in the bathroom please, as the towels were always damp?

The patio doors were very hard to open, rusty and tight, windows were a bit dirty, don’t think they could have been cleaned in a while, kitchen cupboards could have done with a bit more of a clean and tiles in bathroom, could have had a good wipe down I also cleaned out bath before we used it as there were hairs in it. Considering they have 9-4 pm to clean the standard could have been better , I spoke to the person who was staying next door & they said the same too. Having said this we would return and stay again as the bungalow was comfy, would just hope it would be a bit cleaner next time.

I ended up cleaning certain bits of the bungalow , door frames etc and the window ledge in our bedroom needed a wipe down . Not what you expect for the price paid in September. We found the bed uncomfortable , it needs a decent mattress like a memory foam, sleep is important . On first day had to report broken toilet seat and shower which was fixed promptly . Patio door needs attention too. Why in this day and age there is no WiFi is surprising . We hope these things will be noted for the comfort of future guests.

Perfect for 2 people or 2 people with an infant in a cot (although it is a squeeze to get a travel cot in the bedroom). Just a short walk across the beach from the bungalow to St Michael’s Mount and Marazion. Friendly owner, cleaner and grounds man. Only gripe is that the mattress was too hard for us but was easily solved with our own mattress topper. The train line by the house wasn’t a problem either as trains barely ran at night and we weren’t in often enough for it to affect us during the day.

Still awoke every morning with back ache. Would suggest new bed be a King Size as very small double, which is poor compared to most cottages now. Shortage of cutlery ( again reported previously ), needed to purchase extra teaspoons and could not find any metal Baking trays to cook in oven other than pyrex or pottery. • "The property was not cleaned very well."

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in and on one night I actually chose to sleep on the sofa, as the bed was making my back ache. Some damp in the walls and always a damp smell when we returned from being out. It wasn't safe to leave any windows open when we went out as the locks on the windows were very poor and no security offered. Shower control did not work well and we had to lever it with a spoon, as other guests had also stated they did the same. Only enough hot water for one shower....then suddenly went cold, so assuming small tank. Patio doors very stiff to open. Ironing board but no iron....doesn't make sense! Although the train was close the noise did not bother us too much. No information brochures on local areas to visit or attractions. Apart from that the location was good, and the views across to St. Michael's Mount were stunning.

  • "The Sail Boats bungalow was clean upon arrival and as described."

A photograph that shows the space to the back of the bungalow would be useful to some clients so that they can see the patio area with close proximity to the Station Pub and slope to the garden wall. However, this was not a problem for us. I would imagine in peek season some visitor's to the Pub will perch on the garden wall which would be very irritating if you were on your bench outside. We had to ask some people to move (which they did), put we didn't like to ask. Basic cooking pans, utensils and crockery for two persons provided. Bring your own bread knife though if you need something to slice through a loaf. The two dining chairs should last the rest of the season with one having wobbly legs and needing replacement. All in all the accommodation was good and I would recommend it if only for the ideal sea view location. Some have described the interior decor as tired, but considering the close location to sand, water and the weather there is always going to be compromises - the flooring and skirting boards visibly affected but expected. No recycling on site! Had to use the skips at Sainsbury's. My only gripe is that the DVD player did not work properly with a brand new DVD with the film constantly freezing, jumping and skipping to a different scene. Also the freeview reception was often pixelated due to a bad connection or reception. Not a big issue, just disappointing on a cold evening in doors.
