  • "Had a fab week in Lewarne at the end of August."

The house is spacious and clean with everything one might need. Quick access to the heart of the village with superb views. Would recommend and would love to return in the future.

  • "The house was lovely , spacious and well equipped."

The description of the parking in the summer months wasn’t the best. You can’t park on the main road - fine but description said other on road parking. This was down a very overgrown and not very maintained path (very steep - which they did state) to another road or in the public carpark which meant you still needed to climb up pathway to the house. This was fine as we were adults and older teens but I wouldn’t want to take younger children up and down it. Overall a lovely base and home to stay in - just a little maintenance needed on path down to village.

Thank you for letting us know about the path to the village, we don't often go down so will let the gardener know. Property Owner

  • "On street parking is available out of season."

Wasn't sure what the situation was with recycling so had to take this home (no info pack seen in property). Lovely large house and location.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay at Lewarne at the end of August 2022."

The property itself is on a hillside, access and parking was a bit tricky but not a problem if you are mobile and active enough. You can buy a weekly ticket in the local car park, 2-3 minutes walk away and can sometimes get a spot close to the property near the Wellington pub. The view from the property was charming, looking out over the village. The kitchen was well equipped and the furnishings very comfortable. There's access to plenty of tourist sites within a short drive and perhaps also walkable, plus some good pubs and restaurants in the village. The real discovery for me was swimming in the marina at Boscastle when the tide was in, good fun and bracing too!

  • "Lewarne is a truly wonderful holiday homes."

The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived. The view from the terrace is stunning and the cost proximity to the harbor is great with all the lovely shops and great places to eat on the doorstep. Anyone else visiting, the Fish and Chip shop is well worth a visit. The beds, with there beautiful linen are really comfy. The facilities in the house are exceptional, the kitchen has everything you need and more there where even spare bowls for our dogs and food!! I would highly recommend this property and truly hope to return in the future. Thank you for having us. The Edwards

  • "Only problem i had was a faulty tv and a bathroom door causing enormous problems."

I told the owner but nothing was done. Otherwise lovely place.

  • "We had a great time, very spacious house and the property was clean and tidy upon arrival."

The TV didn't work due to a poor signal as others have mentioned but this was not a major issue for us. Boscastle is a good base to explore Northern Cornwall with Newquay, Padstow, Bude etc all within an hours drive. The local bus service is good too and the food in the Cobweb inn is great. Don't miss the sunsets from the cliff top if you can make the climb, they are stunning. We would come back again.

  • "The property was not clean."

Hairs and toothpaste found in the bathroom sink, dirty marks on the toilet seat, sticky marks and food crumbs on kitchen worktops, dusty, dirty surfaces and floors. Photographs provided to Sykes. The television did not work and it was clear from conversations with the owner that she was aware of this and therefore property listings are knowingly inaccurate. In my opinion, parking in a 'nearby street' is misleading. Guest are not made to feel welcome. There is no welcome pack and not basics left in the kitchen. Not even a teabag. No hand soap, or any soap to wash ones hands after visiting the toilet, on arrival at the property. Unfortunately, finding a dirty and unhygienic property outweighs any positives that this property may have. Furthermore, the attitude of the owner was poor as was the attitude of Sykes. The owner is in breech of contract, as stated in Sykes booking conditions, yet Sykes will not do anything about this. Furthermore, Sykes ratings clearly cannot be relied on and are not only unhelpful, but misleading when trying to choose a property. Therefore, I could not recommend Sykes to anyone.

Thank you for your feed back, which we take on board and have already discussed with our cleaning contractor. We are sorry that the property did not meet your expectations regarding cleanliness, but we were also surprised due to the previous excellent feed back received on this site. We would have ensured it was cleaned following your arrival, but you stated that you 'did not want to be disturbed on your holiday'. Regarding the TV, it was unfortunate that you could not get it to work, despite our suggestions, we were also happy to have it looked at, but you again stated that 'you did not want to be disturbed on your holiday'. The 'basics' have been removed due to previous covid restrictions, although we take on board your comments about the lack of soap and will address this. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic location, amazing property, excellent views from the terrace, had a lovely stay!"

The only recommendation I would say to make it easier for guests is in the kitchen to have some basics like salt & pepper, a bit of sugar, perhaps a coffee machine - having said that there is a shop in the village where you can find everything that you need!

  • "Absolutely beautiful property with fabulous views over Boscastle."

The rooms are all beautifully furnished and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook! The only downside are the steep steps to the property but no problem for our group. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

  • "Lewarne is a beautiful house."

Extremely luxurious and spacious. Fully equipped with everything you need. Boscastle is a lovely quaint cornish National Trust village and an excellent base to explore North Cornwall and the surrounding areas. Boscastle has some lovely reastaurants and tea house, all of which we would highly recommend. The Witches Museum is a must to visit. Full of intrigue. There are so many beaches to explore. Some with easy access, some are slightly more challanging to navigate. Lewarne had a lovely feel to it, very homely. Please do not be put off by the fact that you cannot park outside the property. We unloaded the car with no problems and parking is only one road away. We never had problems trying to find a parking place. Lewarne was the best property that we have ever stayed in.

  • "The pictures of the house do not do it justice, the house is spacious, lovely throughout and fantastically placed for getting into Boscastle and in particular the harbour."

We travelled with two teenagers and we were able to do great things each and every day around the area. In the evening we watched films in the house and made great use of the excellent kitchen and dining room. The house is hard to access for those who struggle with steps and parking can be tricky (easiest place is pay and display) but otherwise this is a wonderful house and we fully recommend it.
