Packet of biscuits, a cream tea for two, a decent bottle of wine. Could do with a dishwasher and not a washing machine in the kitchen. The owner leaves you alone which is good and the hot tub is great. Loads of wildlife in the area and overlooking fields. Very relaxing. Around 5 minute walk into town and a pub called the ship. Great atmosphere and food. Very quiet area. People that live in Mevagissey are very welcoming. Fully recommended.

It is really tiny. Smaller than expected. TV way too close to watch in comfort. Heating controlled by next door owners. Not able to adjust it yourself at all. However did give us a lovely hamper on arrival with tea coffee etc. nice touch. Hard to find as on side of owners property tucked away. We were outside and didn’t even know it was there. Needs better signage. On a huge hill. Not very accessible in a larger vehicle. But not owners fault that!

We are sorry you did not find our accommodation up to our usual high standards. The heating is controlled on a time clock as it seems wasteful to have it on continuously when someone is out but when you mentioned we turned it on straight away and said you could have it on whenever. Most people say it is a lovely cosy place but with a huge storm approaching it was understandable why you left early we hope you enjoyed your bottle of bubbly for your honeymoon and that you enjoyed better weather at home Best wishes Judith and Gareth Enjoy your married life together xx Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing stay."

We arrived a little early but Gareth welcomed us, vacuum cleaner in hand and immediately gave us some great tips about the local area. We were able to leave our bags before heading off into the village in search of lunch. Upon our return, there was a fantastic welcome hamper containing all kinds of essentials and a couple of extra surprises in the fridge (I won't spoil it for future guests). This was totally unexpected and a lovely start to our holiday. The property itself has everything you need, everything! Although it's compact, the only room that is actually small is the living room area. Kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are perfectly sized. The hot tub was excellent and clean, very private too. The garden and the outlook from it are beautiful, we could see a bird of prey visiting an adjacent field almost every morning whilst we had our coffee. Our calves are still burning from the walk in and out of the village, at 10 mins sauntering pace it was ideal for us and helped burn off a few calories after dining at several of the excellent local bars and restaurants. The bed was comfy, the towels all super soft and the bath (massive) & shower were excellent. There's not much more I can add other than Gareth and Judith were both wonderful hosts and made it clear to 'give them a knock' if there was anything we needed, there wasn't as they seem to have thought of everything already! absolutely lovely hosts. We will be back and are already looking forward to another stay. Thank you so very much. Ady & Vix xxx.

Thank you for your super comments and we are delighted you enjoyed your holiday. We hope you enjoy your trip to Australia next year but are disappointed we won’t see you. The main problem we found was the location of the property being at the top of a steep hill. The gradient of the hill was not suitable for people of our age group who may have walking difficulties. Sykes cottages should inform clients of the steep hill. We were not told at all.

Thank you for your kind comments and appreciate the hill may be rather steep for some people to negotiate Sykes should have pointed this out when you booked.
