Withan Farm Wing

A fantastic property that exceeded our expectations in terms of space and comfort.

The rooms were all generously sized, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the whole property was wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. Everything was spotlessly clean and very well maintained, with all the facilities and thoughtful touches needed for a true home from home experience. The location is excellent for exploring South Cornwall, particularly the stunning beaches and beautiful coastline, with plenty of attractions and scenic spots within easy reach. Ruth was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The only minor downside was that the WiFi router is positioned in a less-than-ideal location, and the thick walls can affect the strength of the signal in some areas. However, this was only a small inconvenience and certainly did not detract from what was an amazing and memorable holiday. We would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful base for exploring South Cornwall

We had a lovely holiday at Witham Farm.

The accommodation was bigger than expected, very clean with lots of character. We had a warm welcome from Ruth with a cream tea layed out for us. The cottage had everything we needed, comfy beds and very quiet for a good night sleep. It took a while to get used to the narrow, windy roads but the supermarkets were handy and it was only a short drive to the fantastic beaches of Cornwall. Will stay again.

This really was exceptionally clean, comfortable and well-equipped.

In 40+ years of staying in cottages in Britain we have never experienced such value for money or such comfortable. The owner was very welcoming and friendly too.

Beautiful, well equipped cottage, spotlessly clean.

Sadly, due to no fault of the owner, there was no WiFi for the whole of our stay and we all had to buy extra data on our phones. On discussing this with Sykes on our return home, they were extremely unhelpful & unaccepting of the situation - we were 3 female friends away from our families. Because of the lack of support from Sykes regarding this, I will not be using them again.

We had a lovely time staying in this property, very clean and comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay at Withan Farm in Helston.

The cottage is in a beautiful, peaceful area with fantastic walks right from the doorstep—perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside. Ruth was a superb host, warm, welcoming, and always happy to help with local tips. There’s a great local pub, The Prince of Wales, which made evenings out really enjoyable. I also loved visiting some of the nearby highlights: the Minack Theatre, which is absolutely a must-see, and Coverack, a charming and picturesque village well worth the trip. Overall, Witham Farm is a lovely place to stay.

We were met with a very warm welcome at this very peaceful farm location.

The accommodation in the main farmhouse was extremely comfortable and had a most homely feel to it, with both front and back gardens having spots in which we could sit and relax. From here there were a variety of short, medium and longer walks without ever having the need to take a car and it was a great base in which to explore further afield. Just what we needed! Thank you.

What caught my eye about this property was the reviews.

Many people seemed to be rebooking this place and I thought that would be a good indicator of a successful stay. I’m so glad I did! Withan Farm is gorgeous and the cottage is wonderful and well stocked. It is clean and roomy and everything is of high quality. Ruth is a lovely , warm person and made our family feel welcome. We will certainly be staying here again in the future!

Could do with a few extra pillows and spare blankets as it did get cold in the night

Ruth goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. From the welcome treats to cleanliness , every little thing you could possibly need and more. The farm is beautiful as is the walk to French man's creek. Ruth is friendly and available onsite if needed but just keys you get on with it. We will be back. Thank you for making my big birthday treat holiday amazing.

Peaceful holiday cottage in a secluded spot.

Very large with every kitchen accessory you could need. Well located for trips around Cornwall. 3 bathrooms (1 very small en suite downstairs). The upstairs shower is fabulous. The owners have tried to keep as many original features of the property as possible, which means that some things are in need of repair, such as the main bedroom wardrobes which don't close properly (a minor issue). The mattresses in the property are VERY firm and i struggled to sleep. My mother prefers a firm mattress but they were too firm even for her. Be warned that the cottage is in a secluded location requiring about 20 minutes of single track road travel to get to and from. Some junctions are treacherous. Follow the directions on Sykes rather than a sat nav. The owner welcomed us with a lovely cream tea and 2 pints of milk, but we struggled to contact her after this despite her living across the way. There were no instructions on how to dispose of the rubbish and recycling yet the owner was not at home when we attempted to contact her. 1 phone no provided was out of service and the 2nd went straight to voicemail, which the owner didn't return. Thankfully there were no emergencies. Overall a good stay. 4/5. Would consider returning if 1 of the mattresses was changed to a softer option.

Fantastic property in a beautiful setting.

Extremely well equipped. Just a couple of suggestions, there was no salt and pepper grinders. And also the frying pan is not non stick so tricky doing fried eggs. And a pan brush would be helpful. I would highly recommend this property and Ruth the owner was very friendly and was there to greet us and also left a delicious cream tea!

The cottage was top notch in lovely countryside and offered great walks and places to visit closeby. Nothing to do with the farm we have no critisicm there whatsoever but it is difficult to speak to anyone at Sykes once you have booked.

It is a wonderful holiday accommodation in an area of oustanding natural beauty.

The nature around is stunning and beautiful. Its the wildlife around you that is making the all the right noises ;-). The host is very welcoming and the accomodation is clean and comfortable. We felt like being “home” as soon as we arrived, after being away for a year…..

We had a lovely stay, the cottage is well appointed and in a great position to explore the Lizard peninsular and far west of Cornwall.

The owner was friendly and on site, although as we had no complaints we didn’t need to contact her.

Everything was absolutely perfect.

The house was stunning and clean and well kept throughout. We enjoyed s’mores on the log fire and had plenty of room with literally everything we needed for our family. Thank you again Ruth for a wonderful week.

The Cottage was lovely and the host excellent. Really not happy with Sykes customer support. Being forced to do it all online was horrendous. Much prefer human contact and a phone line.

We loved Withan Farm so much in 2023 that we booked immediately for 2024, and having just returned from two weeks there, it is still just as special.

Our host Ruth could not be more thoughtful and accommodating, and the lovely Cornish cream tea was especially welcome when we arrived. This is such a lovely base to explore this less-busy side of Cornwall, and the fact that Frenchman's Creek is only a few minutes walk through woodland is a big plus. Even if you decide to stay in for a day, the wildlife visiting the back garden is amazing - the bird feeder outside the dining room window had daily visits from a greater spotted woodpecker, whilst a moorhen family with chick were picking up seed on the ground below. Amazing! If you are looking for a holiday cottage which combines the quiet beauty of the countryside with all the benefits of seaside and holiday attractions within easy reach, then it would be hard to improve on Withan Farm Wing.

Quiet farm based cottage in countryside, comfortable stay

We’ve just had a brilliant 5 night stay with a delicious cream tea welcome.

It is a lovely peaceful location with the added bonus of being able to feed & watch the wildlife from the dining table.

Nice and peaceful location, in the middle of nature. Near to Frenchmans Creek and other beautiful walking locations. Hospitality of hosts is excellent, they make you feel right at home.

This is a dream property for anyone wishing to combine all the comforts of home with a stay in a setting that is off the beaten track and away from the many tourist hotspots, yet comfortably within reach of the coast and a wide variety of attractions.

If you would like to take a step back from the rat race, slow down, and slip into the rhythm of country life, this is the place - and you even get a chance to practice slowing down when you negotiate the narrow roads that abound in this area of Cornwall. The owners live in and run the farm in which the property is set, and could not be more kind and thoughtful, without in any way being intrusive. They are happy to give you as little or as much of their attention as you wish. Frenchman's Creek is just 10 -15 minutes walk through the woods, Helford Village less than 30 minutes further on. Some Do's and Don't's: DO try the ice creams at Gwella Dairy in St Martin DO visit the Pasty Shop at Gear DO venture out for a walk to Frenchman's Creek DO visit Gunwalloe Beach if you want to be able to wander without crowds of people around DO visit Coverack - really picturesque But: DON'T expect courtesy or politeness or "customer first" if you visit Holy Mackerel at Helford - however good the food may be! DON'T trust your Satnav to find Withan Farm - follow the instructions given when you make your booking. DON'T expect to find lots of available dates if you want to book this property again! This was a lovely out of the way property.

Very well equipped and very comfortable. Area is great with lots of quiet lane walks from the property. The owners were friendly and helpful and even though the Cornish weather was unpredictable we still had an amazing time and would definitely use it again.

We had a fantastic stay at Withan Farm which is located in a beautiful part of Cornwall.

Ruth and Brindley were perfect hosts, the delicious Scones on arrival were a great start. Ruth provided us with all the useful tips on where to visit locally. The cottage had everything you needed for a lovely relaxing break. We would highly recommend, we will definitely be staying there again if we visit that area.

This is our third visit and we were warmly welcomed by Ruth and Brinley, with everything we needed for our arrival.

The accomodation is spacious and very well maintained with parking close by. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and with 3 bathrooms, there is no shortage of facilities for a family or group of friends. Provisions can be bought from the local village shop (Mawgan) or the large supermarkets at Helston. Beautiful scenery with coastal walks, beaches and good pubs make this a great place to 'escape' to.

Every home comfort is there with a delightful attention to detail including tea and scones on arrival. Mrs and Mrs Hoskens are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The location is beautifully unspoilt and ideal for exploring the Lizard. Bring a map and don’t rely on satnav if you want to avoid the narrowest lanes . Sykes booking and admin was easy and attentive, would use again and we will be back to Withan soon.

Beautiful farmhouse in lovely surroundings.

The aga in dining room and the wood stove in living room were great. It felt very cosy on our rainy dark evenings indoors. Loved the thoughtful items for all our needs. Would definitely love to return one day.

Well Off The Beaten Track .

. Narrow Roads .. 15/20 Minutes From Helston .. Great For Lots Of Walks .. But We Were There For Touring South Cornwall -- Ideal For That Purpose .. Just A Fiddly Job Getting To Main Roads .. Lovely Property And Friendly Helpful Family .. Had A Great Week .. and Thoroughly Enjoyed Our Stay .. Shame About The Weather .. But We Muddled Through .. Bird Feeders - Very Busy .. Loved It ..

We have just returned from our holiday at Withan Farm Wing, Helford and we can honestly say that it's the nicest place we have ever stayed.

The hosts were fantastic, and nothing too much trouble for them, the accommodation had everything you could wish for(and more,) and the farm, picture perfect. We had a brilliant stay at Withan Farm Wing.

Ruth was friendly and chatty but unobtrusive host always on hand to answer questions and give recommendations and made us feel at home straight away! The kitchen was well stocked with practically everything you would need, only thing missing, in our opinion, was a large stock pot for on the hob stews ect. The cottage was clean and tidy and well stocked with books and DVDs and wood for the burner. Even with Covid restrictions the place was homely and we couldn't have asked for more.

Absolutely delightful setting. The cottage is very roomy with lots of storage in the large bedrooms.

This cottage and everything in it was so beautiful.

It had character and charm and it felt like a home that was loved and where people had lived happily for a long time. Ruth and Brindley went above and beyond a warm welcome. It was immaculately clean. The crockery and linen was a very high quality. Everything you needed was in the house, whisks, sensible knives, tea towels, dish cloth, kitchen roll, tin foil, cling film, plenty of toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. Each basin and sink had soap and a hand towel, which was lovely. Having everything to hand made living here so easy and made for an enjoyable holiday. The log burner had plenty of logs and was easy to use making the house cosy in the evening. Plenty of hot water was provided by the Rayburn. We could not have had a nicer stay anywhere. Lucky, lucky people who have booked this house they are in for a treat.

Lovely peaceful setting in a farm wing very quiet with some great areas to visit lovely hosts and we (for obvious reasons) had to delay from May to October so we made good use of the log burner!

(Complimentary logs just ask Ruth or Brindley) well equipped and with a Rayburn in the dining area great for keeping dinner hot! Make sure you read Brindleys book that he wrote on the trials and tribulations of farming I guarantee you will never take our farmers for granted again!

What a lovely property!

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay with mainly good weather. It was lovely to just be able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Ruth and Brindley were very hospitable hosts and made us very welcome. I did undertake the walk through the fields and woods down to Frenchman's Creek, which was more challenging than I had anticipated....the views of the creek made it worthwhile! We shall definitely rebook for the future...

Withan Farm Wing is one of the most comfortable and spacious holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.

It is warm and homely it makes it really easy to relax and enjoy your holiday. When I spoke to our host Mrs Hosken she said that due to covid restrictions the house was more 'basic' this year, so I really didn't know what to expect. There was no need to worry - absolutely everything that you need is is there! Ruth and Brindley Hosken are the most friendly and welcoming hosts, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The house is only a short walk from Frenchmans Creek which is so peaceful is it well worth the short walk to enjoy the tranquillity. The house is situated so that secluded beaches and coastal walks are within easy reach so that social distancing is no problem! This is a wonderful holiday home and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you for our lovely stay in Cornwall.

Accommodation and parking were excellent.

Our one and only problem was a few low doorways. Site was quiet and peaceful. Good to be able to walk from the cottage to Helford and Withan Quay on Frenchman's Creek. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Great location for watersports, including kayaking. We enjoyed launching from St Anthony's, but the twisty narrow lanes were a challenge.

Absolutely loved this place!

Real little hidden gem, house was perfect, far exceeded our expectations and obviously lots of thought put into everything about it, all necessary facilities and more, hosts were lovely, nothing too much trouble. Felt very safe and welcome, supermarkets, attractions, beaches etc only a short drive away, fantastic place to just relax and unwind

We were aware there was a bedroom downstairs but had we known it was directly off the kitchen, I'm not sure we would have booked the property.

After cooking we had to open all of the windows to get the smell of food out of the bedroom and in the morning we had to creep about in the kitchen so as not to wake the person in the bedroom. Not huge hardships but something worth knowing. We do have to say though that the owners and their son are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I always find it difficult to settle on holiday at the start but I found that this wasn't the case here; I felt very safe and comfortable from the start.

Mr and Mrs Hosken's are excellent hosts.

This was our second visit and everything was as we had hoped. The cottage is very clean and comfortable with spacious rooms. Having a bathroom downstairs as well as upstairs and a well-equipped kitchen made it ideal for self-catering and would work well whether for a couple or family. The location makes it easy to get to the Helford River and beautiful coves and beaches of the Lizard Peninsula as well as to explore the area around Lands End. We would certainly recommend Withan Farm for a holiday!

The rooms were big and airy with a lovely mix of old and new. The hosts were friendly and always on hand to help and share their recommendations. A very enjoyable stay.

Withan Farm Cottage is a peaceful and idyllic place to stay in the heart of the Lizard.

The hosts gave a warm welcome and a cream tea was waiting for us on arrival. Books to read. Games to play. DVDs to watch. Gardens to run and play All made it a truly family friendly holiday. Close to many local attractions. A local shop and pub only a mile away. Nearest supermarket 20 mins away.

It was nice to stay in a holiday cottage where small extras such as tea bags and even dishwasher tablets were provided.

The hosts were also very friendly and approachable and would give as much information about the area as required.

Withan Farm Wing was probably the most homely cottage we have stayed in.

It really is like home from home. It is lovely and spacious and so well equipped. We lovely stay there and it is in a beautiful part of Cornwall.

Excellent cottage, in a good location with brilliant owners on hand for anything.

The cottage was lovely and very well equipped by the very hospitable owners.

The situation is very peaceful and the rooms are comfortable and airy. It is a walk through fields and woods from Withan Farm to Helford, Frenchmans Creek and the Costal path which was great on the first and last days when we did not want to drive. Milk, scones, clotted cream and jam together with fresh local Apple juice was much appreciated on arrival. We would certainly stay again.

Friendly and helpful hosts. Extremely peaceful with lovely gardens and surroundings. Be sure to follow Sykes instructions getting there. Satnav takes you down some very interesting narrow lanes! An ideal location for exploring Cornwall and thoroughly recommended.

A lovely week's stay at Withan Farm.

The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, plenty of room for a family of 5. We were even treated to a cream tea on arrival which, after a long drive, was a nice way to start our holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and the accomodation was ideal for the 4 of us.

It would work well for a family or 2 couples. I guess that no dogs is a slight drawback as the area is so dog-friendly but is understandable with the cattle on the farm. The location is perfect for exploring The Lizard across to Landsend and north of the Helford river.... something for everyone!

We were made to feel welcome by the helpful owners who live onsite.

Lots of local information and leaflets provided. Accommodation very spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed. Withan Farm will be on our list of places to return to in Cornwall.
