"The property was part of a beautiful Georgian terrace up a steepish but short hill overloooking pretty Pentewan village."
It is very well equipped with all mod cons, eclectic colourful decor, extremely comfortable beds (we all slept so well), ample hot water and really good water pressure in the showers.
Claire, who looks after the property for the owners, obviously takes great pride in keeping it spick and span and well stocked. I only spoke to her once (she rang to double check how we wanted the bed configured) but she was very friendly and approachable and I had the impression that nothing would be too much trouble for her which is reassuring.
The village pub, The Ship Inn, has a lovely atmosphere and does good grub, the local café was great too. Lovely, peaceful holiday in gorgeous property with fab coastal and woodland walks, nice beach and close to Mevagissey. We loved it, thank you.

"We had a wonderful holiday week staying at Josie in Pentewan, Cornwall."
The house is pleasantly located at the top of the village and is a lovely, cosy place to stay. It’s a great spot to relax and unwind after a day out exploring the area.
The location is excellent for walking, especially if you’re travelling with dogs. You can do the Horseshoe Walk straight from the village, which offers beautiful views and is perfect for dog walks. The beach is also close by, making it easy to enjoy the coast.
The main beach in Pentewan village itself is quite small and narrow, but still nice for a short walk. The larger beach next to it belongs to the holiday park and is private. During the day there is a bridge connecting the village to this beach, but it closes in the evening. When closed, you can still reach the holiday park via a short detour.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! A peaceful location, great walking routes and a comfortable, welcoming house. We would happily recommend this property to others.

"The cottage is beautifully decorated and esthetically pleasing with a lovely view across the countryside."
The bathrooms are stunning but the shower cubicle is very tight even for a little person, could definitely benefit from a bigger shower with a shelf/rack for shower gel etc. The flooring in the main bedroom needs some TLC, where wood had worn away over time, but the colours and ceiling were beautiful. Overall it is a gorgeous cottage that could be perfect with a few tweaks and we wouldn't hesitate to return
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, it’s always appreciated. We’re so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and liked the decoration, a lot of hard work went into Josies refurbishment so it’s lovely when this is noted. The views are definitely a huge part of the appeal also.
Sadly the restrictions of a 300 year old listed building have their limitations and yes the shower is certainly on the “bijou” side. Unfortunately the room size did dictate this but I do accept it would be useful to have a shower caddy in place, so I’ll ensure this is rectified as soon as I can.
The floor is indeed the original one and has some wear and tear but il definitely ask our builder if he can have another look and check if there’s any areas we can Improve/replace.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Josie again in the future.

"Josie was the perfect place to stay to tick all of the boxes for us."
Beautifully decorated and such attention to detail in every room. We had everything we needed and more. The little touches, such as the lavender sleep balm and the bath salts made our stay feel like home from home. The cottage sits within a stones throw from the most beautiful and secluded beach. Excellent for swimming and paddle boarding but also for mountain biking and woodland walks. There is so much to explore in the surrounding area and we will definitely be back, thank you.
Sounds like you had a fun packed break. Pleased you enjoyed our home made sleep balm etc snd thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is greatly appreciated

"My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at Josie!"
The cottage was spotless, stylish, and incredibly comfortable — the perfect home away from home while I was working in the area. We especially appreciated the cosy living spaces, well-equipped kitchen, and the peaceful bedrooms for a great night's sleep. The location is ideal, with the beach, pub, and local attractions all within easy reach. We would happily return and highly recommend Josie to anyone visiting Cornwall!

"Our stay at Josie was short but perfect."
The cottage is charming and quirky, immaculately presented and so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! It’s only a short walk down a footpath to the beach. The gardens of Heligan are nearby and are not only beautiful but a fitting and moving tribute to the workers who lost their lives in WW1.
The veranda is the absolute perfect place for an evening drink, especially as the evening sun lingers a little longer on the row of cottages on the hillside.
Thank you so much. We’re really pleased you enjoyed your stay as much as we do when we’re there. The veranda on an evening, star gazing with a glass in hand is one of our favourite things to do too.

"We spent a wonderful week in this charming property."
It was quirky, cosy, warm and comfortable and very well equipped. So nice to be able to sit on the veranda with views over the town and coastline. There were lots of fascinating places to visit nearby, Wheal Martyn, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhayes Castle, Trelissick, Mevagissey and Charlestown. Pentewan is a pretty little village and we thoroughly recommend Little Bay Cafe (great cakes!)
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. You certainly packed an awful lot into your stay. I wholeheartedly agree regarding little bay cakes too!

"A fantastic week based at ‘Josie’."
We wanted for nothing at this characterful little property, a very handy short drive from all the places he were headed. The Ship Inn serves good food and local beer and is a five minute walk away. The house keeper, Claire, is an absolute gem and prepped the house beautifully prior to our arrival (we made a few more trips to Lobb’s Farmshop during the week!).
If you’re tall, remember to duck! I didn’t several times with painful consequences and pay attention when parking! Lovely week. Thank you.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Claire is indeed a gem and we are lucky to have her. The drive can be a bit tight especially for 2 cars but thankfully it’s all being redone over the next 4 weeks, including a brand new decked area and electric charge point, just incase you fancy revisiting in the future.
We will throw in a headguard too!

"Josie is a truly wonderful home from home."
The attention to detail and exquisite finish throughout meant that our stay was just perfect.
I could have lost a whole day in the spa bathrooms!
Welcome gifts were thoughtful and delicious.
The Terrace is an amazing building with a rich history available in the church which we enjoyed exploring. Josie enjoys a breathtaking view over Pentewan. No light pollution so you can enjoy the stars from the veranda.
The kitchen was a pleasure to use- perfectly equipped.
The furnishings are tasteful and luxurious with extremely comfortable beds.
Already looking at dates that we can visit again, thank you for a magical place to spend Christmas
Thank you so much for your lovely words. So pleased you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back.

"Josie is simply beautiful."
We have had such a lovely break and only wished we could have stayed longer.
Claire the housekeeper was brilliant, providing us with some local recommendations of places to visit and things to do. The hamper was such a fantastic addition , hadn't expected so much food.
Every room in the cottage has been beautifully decorated to the highest standard. We loved relaxing in the luxurious bathroom, the bath is something else. It was lovely to be able to light the log burner and chill after a blustery beach walk, really cosy. Hadn't realised the South West Coast path is less than a minute away, we managed to walk to Charlestown which we would highly recommend. We would honestly recommend Josie to anyone looking for a first class experience in a beautiful location. Even in the winter we were able to watch the stars whilst sitting on the Terrace enjoying the wonderful view. We will definitely be back.
