  • "The house has had a refurbishment and is so much better."

    The beds are comfortable with good linen. The settees have been replaced and are reasonably comfortable, although higher backed chairs would be better for us oldies. If there are 8 people staying then there won’t be enough seating in the sitting area. It is so convenient for beach, shops and restaurants. Overall a good improvement and a good holiday was had.

  • "‘We had such a good time at The Beach House."

    It was bright, clean & tidy when we arrived, with comfortable beds & sofas, and everything we needed in the kitchen. The wet room is fab for families with young children, and the location is amazing…so near the beach and shops! A previous review mentioned the lack of a BBQ, but they are so difficult to clean; we simply bought a disposable one which was much less hassle! Friends visited us for the day (6 adults and 9 children in total) and with the large doors opening onto the decking it was perfect. We will definitely come again!’ Elizabeth. August ‘24

  • "We have stayed at Beach House many times over the years but returned for a week in August with our 4 children and found there to be comfortable new beds in all the bedrooms (we love the new trundle bed), new comfortable sofas, loads more kitchen equipment and it’s been freshly decorated throughout."

    Location is as fabulous as always, just moments from the beach and shops, and the refurb the new owner has done since our last visit in 2023 is a huge improvement and makes this place even more special. We’ve already booked to stay again next year.

  • "Lovely property, however cleaning could be improved."

    Very yellow kitchen sink on arrival, we found nuts on the floor which hadn’t been swept ip. Patio area only seats 6 at the table but there were 8 of us. An outside shower would have been good although the big shower downstairs was excellent. A big tub outside for dunking wetsuits would be helpful.The freezer was very iced up making it difficult to open the drawers. However, the position was brilliant and none of the above would deter us from coming again.

  • "Overall a AAA location and well appointed."

    Great also to see some upgrades to the sofa, and maintenance following our 2023 stay. Check out time is inconvenient at 09.30, and some flexibility here would be helpful. Also there is a need for an EV charging point as more, and more guests need them. This will become essential. We love the beach house, the facilities, and location are excellent. Thank you again fora. great stay.

  • "‘As returning guests, we love The Beach House…it’s proximity to the beach is unmatched."

    The house is always very clean, tidy and well equipped, and the new sofas and mattresses are extremely comfy! The sea view from the front two bedrooms is just wonderful, and the decking is stunning on a summer evening. It is perfect for the beach, village shops & restaurants, and for exploring the beautiful surrounding area. I can’t recommend The Beach House highly enough for a couple or family, or as an escape on your own. We have already booked for next year!’ Rebecca , July ‘24

  • "We had a lovely week at the Beach House, lovely house, amazing location!"

    (I crew up in Rock and Polzeath, so it was lovely to spend a special birthday week there) Comfortable beds, with fantastic views, nice linen and towels. Just a few little niggles… I work for a quality holiday let company in Hampshire and we always supply plenty of liquid hand soap in bathrooms, tea, coffee and sugar as standard (we also leave a welcome gift of milk and a cake or similar) which I think would have been a nice touch here. Also kitchen equipment is a bit basic, ie, lack of serving bowls. Also no BBQ? But overall I would highly recommend the house for the location, and would definitely stay there again.

  • "My family and I have been coming to Polzeath for 30 years, and we have stayed in Beach House a few times."

    The location is incredible - a few steps away from the beach and shops, and waking up to the breath taking sea view never tires! However, this holiday felt very different to past stays due to the full refurbishment of the property. The old sofas have been replaced with new, smart and comfortable ones and the old battered dining room chairs have been replaced with stylish new ones too. The kitchen cupboards are now fully equipped with an array of cutlery, utensils, glasses and dishes for all meals which is a nice addition and we loved the children’s plates, bowls and cups too! Upstairs, all the beds and mattresses have been replaced and the rickety bunk bed has been removed and replaced with a much safer and smarter trundle bed. It has been repainted throughout as well. The wet room downstairs is a game changer when coming off the beach, and needing to shower the kids/dry wetsuits etc. With regards to previous negative reviews about the place feeling run down and tired, the new owner has obviously thrown a lot of time, effort and money at Beach House since our last stay and my husband, 4 kids and I had a wonderful holiday. The house has been completely transformed in the last few months and we’ll definitely be booking again!!

  • "This is our second trip to the beach house, and we had a lovely week."

    The location is perfect. However, we did comment on the comfort of the sofas last year. We were sent pictures of new seating, but when we arrived the same worn out sofas were there instead. I was in the front twin room last year and the beds were comfortable. This year I was in the back room. The mattresses were terrible. First of all we had one of your maintenance team come and fix mend both broken bed frames with hardboard, which wasn’t great. The mattresses on both beds were terrible, I could feel the springs on my back, and the mattress is so used it’s on a tilt where it’s been sat on one edge for years. I did put a duvet on the mattress to try and improve it but the springs were still prominent. In the kitchen there is a very small fridge which was not enough for the size of the property! We did get another small one delivered which was placed on the living room floor which was far from ideal. I love staying at his property as I can surf every day, and the house plan is perfect for that with a downstairs wet room. I do however feel the above issues need to be fixed if we are to return a third time. The property is looking tired and needs updating. I would appreciate your comments. Karen Carter

There is a new sofa and beds arriving in November, it is also being completely repainted and an update to the bathrooms. Also the soft furnishings are getting an upgrade.   • "This house is ideally situated for beach, shops and restaurants and is a lovely open plan layout with beach glimpses."

    This is the fourth time we have stayed in The Beach House and we were disappointed that things we mentioned on our first stay are still outstanding. Hopefully the new owners will give it the much needed TLC it requires. Last year we bought flutes, this year we bought wine glasses as there was only one! We also bought highball glasses and a brush and dustpan and a broom. That might have been the cause of the dirty state of the place when we arrived. The cupboards were dirty and the also the cooking equipment. We gave most things a good clean before we left but it does need a good deep clean. Our biggest bugbear is definitely the sofas but we were pleased to see the fridge has been replaced. The beds in the back bedroom have broken or missing slats and the toilets seats need adjusting. However in spite of all that we did enjoy our holiday at Polzeath, our 43rd year!

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
