  • "Cant recommend the property enough, it was in a perfect location right in the hub of the town, the only difficulties being no direct parking area at the property."

The parking garage provided was a good walk away from the property and the downside was people often left the doors open and the local birdlife took the chance to move in and deliver a fresh paint job daily over the car! (a small downside overall). Port Issac itself is quaint and we will visit again no doubt, excellent chip shop, the Golden Lion and Mote restaurant were excellent, we didn't get around to trying the Old School house or any of the other eateries, but all looked lovely.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "There was seagull nesting on the roof, a lot of screeching noises were made so we were kept awake."

There was a huge light outside and the blinds don't cover the whole of the window, so light always comes through. Couldn't open the windows due to the noise of the seagulls so it was very warm in the cottage. The hot water wasn't sufficiently hot, there was a water tank so if someone had a bath there was no hot water left for any one else. Cleaning product was left on the bottom of the oven, so when the oven was on it started smoking. There was a leak from the ensuite toilet, the grouting line was wet which indicated a leak.

The seagulls are a feature of Port Isaac and its cliffs as well as the north Cornwall coast, along with other birds, seals that come into the bay and dolphins off the coast these natural wild animals are an attraction for the area. If its too hot you can turn the thermostat down on the nest thermostat near the door and/or open the upstairs windows when you get in for the evening. The environmentally friendly electric water tank has a boost function on the nest control by the door which heats up the water quickly. We shall pass on your comments regarding the oven and ensuite toilet to the maintenance team. Many thanks for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Another fabulous stay in Kipper Cottage and Port Isaac so convenient and comfortable."

Only negative and nothing to do with John Bray or the owners but the previous occupants had cooked fish and we couldn’t get rid of the smell all week, so perhaps a diffuser would help? But that aside we love Kipper Cottage!

It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Kippers Cottage. We value all feedback and your suggestion has been noted. We hope to welcome you back in the future - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Generally excellent cottage."

Very comfy lounge seating and great TV (but needs instructions - took a while to figure out various inputs). Kitchen good but needs a couple more large saucepans (only 1 large, 1 med & 1 small). Needs hanging space for towels in kitchen (for some reason rentals never have this and you end up using cupboard door handles or oven handles). Front smaller bedroom wadrobe drawers falling apart and the room needs shelves or other flat surfaces for personal effects. Cord for blind in bathroom snapped on first day, luckily in closed position. Enjoyed our stay there but it's not for anyone who has any mobility or fitness problems due to very steep access streets & paths. Vehicle access for drop off/leaving very easy, no problems.

Many thanks for your feedback - We will review the points you mention. Saucepan we will check when we are next down the second large may have been put somewhere. There should be laminated instructions for TV in the unit draw. We tend to put drying tea towels on the radiator or cooker handle. Wardrobes are old style and so need a careful hand. If anything is snapped or broken do get in touch with John Bray they should come and fix it for you. They have a good maintenance team. As you say its a traditional fisherman's cottage in the old village at the bottom of the hill/cliff near the sea and that is made clear by John Bray to all who stay in Port Isaac. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was amazing and close to the harbour meaning an early morning cuppa and late night drink were an everyday occurance."

There were even garden chairs to take to sit on and net and bucket for the rock pools. The only down side is the car parking which is a long way from the cottage and in a garage with other vehicles who don't always park well meaning getting in and out can be difficult. We found other ways of unloading other than the harbour and a lovely local gentleman helped us as we're a little disabled. Having said all that we'd stay again but pack differently so less carrying. You need to take washing powder/tabs and there are no condiments if any kind. The welcome pack of cream tea was a lovely gesture. Missing the sound of the gulls and the sea already

  • "We have had a fantastic week in Port Isaac, having stayed in many holiday cottages in Port Isaac including top end Boutique Retreats I’d say Kipper Cottage was up there as one of the best!"

Excellent location, well equipped, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. As holiday cottage owners ourselves we know the effort that goes into creating a home from home! A little confusion about the parking as there are two Trelawney garages and we thought the parking was at the new one so paid to park for the week in the New Road car park before realising at the end of the week it was actually the old garage on New Road. Overall we loved Kipper Cottage and would come back in a heartbeat!

  • "Just come back from a week staying at this cottage, what beautiful accommodation it has everything you would need for your stay."

Great location. The carpark was easy to find and didn't find the gates too much of a problem, however I think it would be a bit tight in there if all the spaces were taken, but we found it no problem. You can take your car down to the slip-way and then only a short walk to the cottage to off load, yes it is a bit up hill, but you are in Cornwall!! Overall would highly recommend and we shall be planning a return visit next year.

Fantastic Cottage in a superb location, bit of a walk to the garage but who cares. The views and scenery are out of this world, we had a week of peace and tranquility. I would recommend Kipper Cottage to anyone who is looking for a fantastic week in beautiful Cornwall

Thank you Garry for your feedback we are thrilled you liked the cottage and its peaceful location, one street back from the main Fore Street. As a pedestrian street its especially peaceful and outside space for a lovely morning coffee or evening sundowner. The street and village is full of character and those glorious views from the cottage or a street away the harbour and cliffs. Property Owner

  • "Cottage is lovely, but I probably wouldn't have booked it if I'd known the parking space was inside a garage with old, heavy doors that had a tendency to come off the runners and get stuck - on one occasion trapping our car inside when we had planned to go out for the day."

Thanks for you feedback on our lovely cottage - we are glad you liked it. I have passed your feedback to the garage owner about the doors - they should run smoothly on the runners and once moving usually work fine. Parking at Port Isaac is at a premium and any space is at a premium. There is always the option of public parking at two near by car parks if garage does not suit. Property Owner

  • "Lovely well equipt comfortable cottage situated a short walk from the quay, we have stayed in Port Isaac a few times but Kipper Cottage is by far the best!"

The only negatives were the access times, arrival was 4.30pm and vacation 9am. Covid rules are now relaxed surely the times should be adjusted accordingly as prices have increased dramatically and technically the days reduced to six and not seven as before.

Jacqueline, thank you for the feedback that Kipper Cottage is the best by far! That made us very proud and humble. We have put a lot of heart into making the cottage not only practical but also beautiful as we would want it to be in a cottage we could call home. You are right John Bray, the managing agents, changed the arrival time and leaving time due to COVID cleaning requirements/airing the property. Whilst government rules relaxed the cleaning from managing agents remains consistently focused on ensuring the cottage is COVID cleaned and aired. I will pass your feedback onto them and review the plan for change. Property Owner

  • "The cottage and location are perfect, we really enjoyed it and will book again bt please address the parking: - Parking is really hit and miss."

We could only park in the allocated spot 3 days out of the 7 as others kept taking the space or they parked so far over the bays either side it was impossible to get in. The bay needs clearer signing, new lines and to be honest bay 6 would be better. We were lucky as not that busy but in the summer it's a necessity to have parking. We woudl like to be informed if this has been addressed before we book again.

Nick, I am glad you liked the cottage and location. Thanks for that feedback on the parking we have had an occasional errant parked car ourselves so we know the issue and how annoying it can be. The parking is an honesty system and owners/guests should clearly park in their space and bays. It provides a space if all owners/guests keep to the rules. I have passed your feedback back to the owner of the garage and I will see what can be done. Property Owner

Very thoughtfully decorated and equipped I loved all the Roman blind fabrics Written info very good TV went wrong on us ! We followed instructions and all well until Thursday when it kept saying No signal We are 72 & 82 years old and not very technology savvy Only problem were the heavy and rather worn doors on Trelawney Garage which did not operate very smoothly or easily We would recommend Kipper Cottage to others Janet Grey

Janet - thank you for your feedback we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. Not sure if you managed to catch the filming of Doc Martin at all. I am not sure we are more tech savvy but in terms of the TV and internet connection we have found switching both the TV and internet off and on again to work. I am glad you would recommend the cottage liked the décor and hope you will visit again. Property Owner

  • "A delightful property in a fantastic location."

However after a 6 hr journey it would've been more welcoming to arrive to some kind of welcome pack; tea, coffee, milk etc. Especially when you don't know the local area . It would also be nice if a few condiments were provided- salt, pepper, cooking oil etc.

Dear Kate, we glad you liked the Cottage and the location we especially like the peace of a pedestrian street but only 75 yards to the harbour and Golden Lion pub. We had ordered a welcome pack but the provider closes for the off season as can be the case in Port Isaac during January to March. Our managing agent and cleaning are still following COVID protocols and so condiments etc are not provided at the moment. Property Owner
