  • "Tregillan is a lovely place to stay."

All the facilities are well thought through and very comfortable. The garden is amazing, with great views of it from the large downstairs windows, and the views of the sea and Padstow from upstairs are beautiful. The house is spacious and warm, a very comfortable place to stay.

Wonderful garden. Lovely and warm. Negatives: mattresses worn out and not very comfortable. No equipment to clean the wood burner.

  • "Its a lovely house with a lovely garden and very good value I think."

Only real issue was the exit to the house - bit scary onto Porthilly Lane - could do with a mirror to allow you to see what's coming both ways. Only other minor issue was details on how things worked - we managed to work out the cooker/oven etc but there didn't seem to be any instructions. Even the main book for helping us with recycling etc was hidden in a drawer. Could do with this being left out. Slightly strange that the heating and water seemed to be constantly on with control only manageable by turning the temperature up and down. But it did mean the house was nice and warm.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and the suggestion for a mirror. We are sorry if some of the instructions were missing and will see if these can be provided in future. The heating is from an air source pump which takes time to warm up so they are best left on with the ability to adjust the temperature to suit. We do hope you choose to book with John Bray Cornish Holidays again. Property Owner

  • "A lovely light large house, true to the photos - worked well for multigenerational family holiday with dog!"

Wonderful mature private garden and outdoor seating area. It is a shame there is no barbecue which feels odd in a house like this and something we missed. We also couldn’t find the fire pit which is mentioned. Overall, though, a lovely house in a gorgeous area - a very short walk down the lane to Porthilly beach and at most states of the tide an easy walk along beach to Rock, otherwise go via the lane. Would highly recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and that the property suited your needs as a family. • "We really enjoyed our stay at Tregillan."

The house is spacious, bright, comfortable and well equipped. It is very private on a quiet lane with a large mature garden. There are tantalising views of the estuary looking over to Padstow from the upstairs bedroom windows which were a joy to wake up to. A short stroll down the lane takes you to Porthilly Cove and St Michael's Church. At the top of the lane is Rock Road with a coffee shop/deli and Newsagent within easy walking distance. The butcher, baker and local mini market are a couple of minutes away by car. The Mariners, The Rock Inn and the ferry to Padstow are also a short drive away or within 20 minutes walking distance for those feeling a bit more energetic. Rock is also well situated for exploring Cornwall with so much to do and see within an hour's drive. There are beautiful walks from the doorstep and my husband walked to Polzeath and back a couple of times. The dishwasher broke during our stay but we were happy that this was replaced within 48 hours of reporting it. The one minor thing we feel the property lacked was a clothes airer for drying clothes indoors which were not suitable for tumble drying. We were unable to use the rotary line outside due to the weather, which was quite showery, and are conscious of the need to save energy.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your holiday we are so glad you enjoyed your holiday. We have passed on the issue to our maintenance team. We look forward to seeing you in the future. John Brays Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

  • "Tregillen is a wonderful spacious comfortable oasis with plenty of room for eight."

It was spotless on arrival and the welcome flowers were a lovely touch. Tregillen has a lovely large secure garden with a beautiful flower border which was much appreciated. The only slight downside to the garden is the most enormous hedge but you do get a seaview from the bedrooms . Thank you for sharing Tregillen.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Tregillan."

It is in a peaceful position with a lovely garden. On the whole the house was very well equipped and comfortable but we had to report problems with one of the toilets and the microwave. One small cafetière is not enough for 7 adults! Provision of bed linen and towels would have made the stay perfect. As these are provided at most other houses of this size, category and price it would be a welcome addition.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we are so happy you had a pleasant stay. Since your stay, a new microwave has been purchased, the toilet has been fixed and a new, larger cafetière is being sourced. Regarding the linen and towels not being included, we apologise that this was not communicated to you before you arrived. These can be ordered separately from Atlantic Laundry ready for your stay. - John Bray Cornish Holidays. Property Owner

  • "So the property was amazing."

Incredible location, great garden. Huge rooms! And very comfy beds. We absolutely loved it although the only thing I would suggest is maybe leaving a book for all information that is needed such as bin collection days, we missed them. How to use the cooker, where things are, etc. that was definitely lacking. Also in most places I have stayed in Cornwall they have leaflets/lists of all local places to eat/visit/takeaway menus. That was also lacking as it would have been helpful the first night we were there. Other than that, super happy with the property and our stay!

Many thanks for your feedback on Tregillan. It is great to hear you enjoyed your stay at this property. During Covid-19 all information folders was removed from all properties, we are now in the process of putting all folders back into the properties. We hope to invite you back to North Cornwall very soon. John Bray on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

  • "Generally, very enjoyable."

House was clean and comfortable and very peaceful. Facilities are perhaps a bit "tired". The toilets don't flush very well and the plumbing is very noisy. We also struggled with the hob which seemed to be either on or off. Had a lot of difficulty contacting your office when one of the toilets broke ( phones not answered) but when I went to the office to report the problem, it was dealt with very quickly and well. We would definitely stay at Tregillan again

The property

Tregillan is a secluded and detached self-catering holiday home, tucked away in a quiet area of Rock, Cornwall.

With a large and enclosed, south-facing garden and sun terrace, ideal for alfresco dining, and resting within walking distance of Porthilly Cove and Rock Beach, Tregillan offers a delightful base for a family of eight.

With generous proportions, the kitchen and dining room are open-plan, lending a further sense of space and light; throw open the dining room doors to the terrace to invite the outside in, a lovely spot to sunbathe or read the papers, surrounded by pretty garden borders.

The bedrooms catch a glimpse of the beautiful Camel Estuary waters and countryside beyond, selecting between four rooms, featuring king-size and twin set ups; a bathroom, shower room and cloakroom are available for convenience.

Saunter down the lane to access the sandy beach; a short stroll across the sands brings you to the sailing club and Mariner's pub, with great food on offer from Nathan Outlaw and locally brewed Sharp's beer.

Exercise yourself and your dog on Porthilly Beach with its stunning view of Padstow, a traditional fishing harbour and vibrant foodie destination; you can even catch the ferry over the water to explore the many shops and historic buildings found in the town.

Get away from it all by walking upriver along the Camel estuary towards Gentle Jane; amble past the mussel and oyster beds and look out for cormorants, little egrets, swans, and oystercatchers.

Rent a dinghy from the sailing school and sail serenely upriver with the tide, passing water-skiers, cyclists on the Camel Trail and the occasional fisherman, before returning home for sundowners.

All of this awaits at Tregillan.
