  • "The initial property we booked was cancelled with just a few weeks notice, and there was little left within our price range for the area we had booked to stay which left us with limited options."

This property is a nice location, only a ten minute walk from St Ives town centre and a five minute walk to a local Co-Op store. The house is well equipped in some areas. The kitchen has good appliances and plenty of cutlery and crockery, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine with some pods. There is also a washing machine and dishwasher. There are some towels for use, though I recommend taking your own as they are only smaller hand towels and wash cloths. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of storage space. There is a small outdoor area which is useful for pets, and would be nice in the summer months. The furniture is comfortable, and the property is well decorated throughout. There are some areas of the property which I feel should be better advertised or require improvement. Though parking is advertised, it is a very narrow side street and parking as close as possible to the property on the pavement. We had a larger car and had a ticket left on it by the refuse men that despite our best efforts, they couldn't get past. Other cars also use this road and it is very tight so a high risk of damage to your car. There is a car park a few minutes walk away but costs £16 for 24 hours. Despite the cost we opted to park here rather than outside the property. There is a television in the living room but has no aerial signal, and limited online apps available via a Now box which all require extra cost and are seemingly logged into the owners accounts which feels invasive when trying to use online apps. Some areas of the property have lovely touches, such as the pictures and prints around the house. But there are some areas which are clearly not well looked after. The tap on the kitchen falls off, the dishwasher rocks around as it is too small for the space it is plumbed in, and there are drafts from the windows which are older designs. The bin outside is also screwed shut so you cannot throw rubbish away properly, and due to the wind we didn't want to just leave it there incase of it blowing away, which meant we had to store bags of rubbish in the kitchen until we checked out. There is an upstairs bathroom with a very small shower cubicle, but there is a downstairs bathroom with a bath and larger shower area. Also quite bizarrely on the morning of our checkout as we were cleaning the property, we heard drilling sounds from the side of the house. Someone had appeared and then disappeared without calling in. It was only evident as we were about to check out that they had removed the lock box on where to place the keys without telling us, so without any information, we locked up and posted the keys back through the letterbox. Overall the property is a lovely location, and has some nice personal touches, and is well equipped. But there are some areas which require improvement, and the ability to park should be clearly marked that larger cars would not be able to safely use this facility.

Hello, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your honest and detailed feedback and we have taken onboard everything that you have said. This really helps us with improving the overall experience for our guests when staying at our much loved family owned property. We have been renovating the property steadily and with regards to the windows we have just organised for some to be replaced, which will help with the drafts. It’s a shame, due to late deliveries that you just missed out on all our new bedspreads, and soft furnishings that we have just bought to make the property more comfortable. Regard the parking, we are very sorry you had some troubles, but glad you found the nearest car park. I guess we over the years, have had more experience parking there in our SUV cars and have had more practice compared to our guests. We are writing up a new welcome book (which will be e-mailed to guests before arrival and a physical welcome book will also be left at the property) for the house, so we will explain about the parking at the house and other parking options. In bad weather the television reception in St. Ives can be a little unpredictable, so we are looking at options to rectify that and we will get it sorted one way or another. We will also ask guests, when leaving to log out of the Now TV box. As for the tap in the kitchen, we thought that had been fixed so apologies for that and thanks for letting us know, we will get that sorted. As for the bin outside, there should have been a bin key by the front door, will make sure that is more obvious for guests. Regard the key safe, we believe the previous house keeping company we employed removed it as they thought it belonged to them. I’m glad you thought the location was good and liked our artwork, we are big fans if St. Ives art. Again, thank you for your feedback and we will make all the changes to make the next guests stay a better experience, we hope you might come back to visit again Property Owner
