  • "A wonderful apartment."

    Spacious, clean, with an amazing view from the balcony over Porthminster Beach. A great location within easy walking distance of the town, pubs and restaurants and also the beaches and places of interest. It has easy access down to the beach. We had a great week staying at Abalone and will certainly return.

  • "Second stay in Abalone and it is by far one of the nicest apartments available."

    Only suggestion would be for house keeping to keep an eye on things like levels of dust under sofas and other furnishings as this can sometimes be seen quite clearly depending on how the light is shining into the room. Also, although the extractor fan above the hob in the kitchen is expected to become a bit grubby, it could do with being cleaned more regularly.

  • "The accommodation was great and we very much enjoyed our stay at St Ives, as per previous visits, but the communication when I tried to contact Carbis Bay Holidays to report an issue was the worst it could possibly be."

    The only telephone number supplied was a general call number to a main switchboard and I understand there were technical problems with the phone lines throughout the 2 weeks of our stay so I was unable to make contact at all via that number. No mobile number supplied for housekeeper (it used to be in previous years) and yet the property information book still advises guests to contact their housekeeper about issues. Ease of communication with the holiday company is key to a successful holiday. Fortunately I was able to make contact another way thanks to my previous stays and once they knew about my issues, your property management company and housekeeper were excellent in swiftly resolving them. However, if I had been a first time customer, I don't know how I would have been able to contact anyone about our hot water and blocked sink issues. It is essential that you provide direct contact details for housekeeping and property management. Please restore the personal touch of providing local contacts that used to be a much appreciated feature of Carbis Bay Holidays.

We would like to apologies for the technical issue we encountered during your stay with our phone systems, this was out of our control and we tried to manage as best we could under the circumstances. The team were on hand in the local office to deal with any issues that arose for our guests and we action accordingly. In regard to the housekeeper being contactable, we have removed this service to streamline reporting of any problems our guests encounter; we understand that this wasn't the case during your stay due to the phone lines being down. The number that is given to all our guests is the local office, and we are here Monday to Saturday 9am - 5.30pm, and we also run an out of hours service, which is contactable on this number too. By the guest contacting Carbis Bay Holidays directly, this enables us to contact a trade immediately where needed and messages not being passed from one person to another. Once again, we apologies for the inconvenience caused. We hope you had an enjoyable stay at the beautiful Abalone, we sincerely hope to invite you back in the near future.   • "I cannot praise the apartment highly enough."

    It is wonderfully situated with stunning views across the beach. Everything within the apartment was spotless and it was fully equipped with high quality items. The only problem we had was that on arrival, someone had parked in our space because the previous occupant hadn't put up the metal bollard on their departure. This is clearly not the fault of Carbis Bay Holidays but a forgetful guest.

    You don't feel as though you need to go out. So clean and comfortable with fabulous views and a large balcony. Having a huge television with Sky sports and movies was also great although we did not really use these. And the Amazon Echo speaker is amazing. Having the spa passes was also great which we used a couple of times. The owners have got it spot on. We have stayed at many places in st ives over the past 30 years and this is up there with the best."

Perched above Porthminster Beach, at Peninsula Apartments, in St Ives, this two-bedroom, first floor, beach front property, enjoys breathtaking views of one of Cornwall’s most beautiful bays from most rooms and seaward facing balcony, the pretty harbour, beaches, shops and St Ives scenic railway all within a short walk.

Sleeping four, plus an infant, it’s idyllic for a romantic escape or family holiday in the heart of St Ives. A stylish open plan living area, with walnut flooring, contemporary white furnishings and floor to ceiling patio doors, which allow sea views to flow throughout, and lead out to a seaward facing balcony, means whether you're cooking, dining or relaxing, you can do it to the backdrop of the wonderful Cornish ocean, in a bright and airy naturally lit space, take a peek through the monocular with tripod provided and watch out for dolphins playing in the bay, or curl up on either of the two comfortable grey leather settees, warm your toes on the rug, and enjoy the entertainment on the 55″ television with full Sky package, including cinema, sports and Netflix, alternatively step onto your large private decked area, through the patio doors, and soak up the amazing views of the bay, stretching from St Ives harbour to Hayle Towans.The kitchen and dining area are within the open plan living space, perfect for socialising with the designated chef and benefiting from the sea views, furnished with a glass table with four dining chairs, it provides a fabulous setting for the whole family to gather for meals, alternatively the balcony offers an alfresco option with an ocean backdrop, the contemporary kitchen, with soft close units, black granite worktops and splashbacks, is well-appointed with everything you need in your home from home, a utility cupboard in the hallway houses a washer/dryer. The family bathroom, located off the hallway opposite bedroom two, has a bath with shower-over, take some time out for yourself to enjoy a long, relaxing soak.

A private seaward facing balcony, accessed from the lounge and master bedroom, and partially covered, is set above the stunning Porthminster beach, a table with four chairs and a two-seater bench offer ample comfortable seating to relax and enjoy the panoramic sea views to Gwithian and Godrevy lighthouse or down to St Ives harbour and the Island, a perfect setting for alfresco dining. St Ives has a variety of cafes and restaurants for foodies to discover, many offer breathtaking ocean or harbour views, your nearest Porthminster Beach Café, is set right on the glorious golden sands below, this Michelin Plate venue offers an idyllic setting for dining out with mouth-watering menus for lunch or dinner, after your meal take a walk around the picturesque arc shaped harbour, search for gifts amongst the boutiques and art galleries dotted around it's pretty cobbled streets, to see how the town has inspired so many artists visit the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. Cornwall has many glorious gardens to explore, Trebah, a sub-tropical paradise with a stunning coastal backdrop, near Falmouth, to one lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1, Heligan, and even a tropical rainforest with its own exciting canopy walkway above the trees at the Eden Project, both near St Austell, maybe you prefer the story of kings, legends and myths, if so head for Tintagel Castle where King Arthur was conceived, with the help of Merlin, according to legend, set high on Cornwall's rugged north coast, Pendennis Castle is an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII near Falmouth or walk out to the castle set on its own island near Penzance, on a man-made causeway of granite setts at low tide, to the majestic St Michaels Mount, it’s truly magical.

The precious Abalone sea snail is a rare find and this aptly named holiday home is similar, featuring an enviable seaside setting overlooking Porthminster Beach with the heart of St Ives on your doorstep.
