  • "Loved the house, plenty of room, one negative, there wasn't any soaps anywhere or washing up liquid."

This is the first property we've stayed at without any soaps, even little soaps would've been useful. Also the shower head connection leaking in the first floor ensuite.

  • "Absolutely loved our stay here!"

So much room for us all and the space in every room was great, beds super comfy, showers roomy and powerful, kitchen really well equipped couldn't have asked for more. One small problem we had, the house wasn't very clean (hadn't been hoovered or dusted) and one of our guests has a severe dog hair allergy, we were aware it was dog friendly but we assumed it would of been cleaned before our arrival but unfortunately it hadn't, luckily she had medication with her but just in future the cleaning could be slightly higher in standard. Other than that, fabulous stay!

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to see that you had a fabulous stay. We are sorry to hear about the points you have raised and the owner has passed your comments on to the housekeeper for future improvements. We hope to have the oppotunity to welcome you back again in the near future. Kindest regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "On the day of check in I received a call about 2pm saying they were expecting a plumber to the property as there was a number if issues that needed to be dealt with."

I said we were 3 hours away so that would not be a problem. He said there was a problem with the radiator. The sink and the shower. When we arrived at the property there were 2 dirty bags of linen at the front door making it very difficult to drop off our luggage with it all in the way. On Thursday the housekeep called to ask if the linen was left and could she call to collect it.so this was in our way for whole time we were there. This really was not a good 1st impression. The radiator in the top floor bathroom was absolutely pouring with water when we went upstairs, we had to hand tighten it to stop the flow and leave a bowl under it for the rest of the week. The shower in the same bathroom switched off half way through and would not come back on again. The issues with the water in the top bathroom caused water to to come through the ceiling in the twin bedroom. The shower in in the middle front bedroom leaks from the corner. The radiator at the front door does not work and it is very cold in living room. And the sink in the kitchen sprays out causing you to get soaked every time you use it. I reported these problems and the fact plumber had not been to sykes in Saturday morning. Louis assured me he would get this sorted and someone would be out.. He rang me later that day to ask if anyone had been out which they hadn't. I then insultingly received a email on Wednesday asking me if my case had been sorted and to rate my experience. Noting had been done and the issues are still very much a problem. which is a shame because the property is lovely but it really does need these issues sorting before you start to charge 3 times as much in the summer months..I had read a few reviews previously stating some of the issues which means they have not been addressed which is not very good to say how much we spent to come for a weeks holiday. I await your reply

Thank you for your Feedback and we are very pleased that you describe Marchbourne as a lovely property. We are however extremely sorry to hear of the issues you experienced with the plumbing during your stay, we are pleased to advise that these have been attended to and that all radiators, towel rails and the shower at the property are in full working order and a replacement nozzle has been fitted to the kitchen tap. May we also apologise that the linen bags were left by the Housekeeping Team, for future reference, if you had contacted our local office on 01736 630015 one of our team would have popped out to remove these. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to St Ives in the future. Best wishes, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "Rooms much smaller than anticipated."

Nicely decorated with goof appliances and on the whole clean. Great position overlooking the beach and walk in to St Ives. Issues with heating- it was extremely cold - the heating was set to come on x2 a day between 16-18 degrees. If it is to be a winter let (rented in Feb x1 week) we suggest this is looked at as the place felt very cold all the time, radiator in lounge wasn't working and the log burner was very small did not throw off a lot of heat. The place felt unwelcoming and even the sheets damp and cold on the bed. The beds were nicely dressed with good quality linen but let down by old hard mattresses. Overall a nice stay but I feel the place has a few issues that need attention.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback we shall look into the points you have raised for future improvements. Kind regards Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "What a fantastic house in a beautiful position - I hope we will be able to return at some point."

Everything was thought of, and decor, linens were all of such high quality. The cleanliness was really good. The car space really suited our mini, and having the car park opposite was great for the second car we brought. (A very minor thing which I hesitate to mention as we didn't raise it while we were there - one of the radiators (near the front door) wasn't working so it made the ground floor quite chilly (our visit co-incided with a very cold spell), but we just bought some logs and made use of the log burner which really helped.). Many thanks for a great holiday.

We came in June with our (grown up) children and enjoyed it here so much that we booked to stay again with friends. We've been fortunate to have great weather both times. Highly recommend Ayr supply for provisions. We have visited Porthminster Kitchen, The Fire House, Porthminster Beach Cafe Restaurant and West Beach Bar for pizza and had great meals at all. Also treated ourselves to 2 visits to Carbis Bay Hotel and had delicious afternoon tea. Hope to be back next year! PS, if you are luck enough to get a parking space, don't risk moving your car!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Marchbourne overall, sadly encountered some issues on our first night however after a couple of days Skyes got this sorted for us & remained in contact with progress reports the entire time."

The home is beautiful, & in an ideal location however the kitchen was poorly equipped, comparing it to other stays with Classic Cottages this was more like a 4* rather than 5. We struggled with the lack of kitchen appliances such as large enough pans & not enough utensils to serve food (7 of us stayed so large volumes of food to be cooked), & the crockery was very chipped, the cutlery we found was dirty & our bed linen was still wet when we arrived. There was still sand throughout the floors of the property & lots of marks on the walls of what could only be described as splatters of insects being killed, there are marks on a lot of the upholstery which we understand is bound to happen due to the volume of stays this beautiful property has. The owners were very reasonable & offered us a refund for the inconvenience which is greatly appreciated & despite some hiccups Skyes Cottages were fantastic, namely Cameron who went above & beyond out of his working hours to ensure that we were ok & issues were resolved as quick as possible. There was also no welcome book or information about how to work appliances, or information about what there is to do locally etc, this was requested from Skyes Cottages & although a very basic guide was sent the information appeared to be old & didn’t include anything about the local area. I think if the cleanliness was to a much higher standard & things such as perhaps an information guide was shared it would’ve been nicer.

Thank you for taking your time to leave your feedback, it is much appreciated. We are sorry to hear of the issues you experienced during your stay and we are pleased to hear they got resolved as quick as possible. We will be sure to pass your feedback on to the owners for their consideration and we will address the cleanliness issues raised with the housekeeper. Despite the issues you encountered during your stay we are pleased to hear you had a lovely stay overall at Marchbourne and we hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Beautifully kept, and impeccably decorated. Every detail had been thought of. The views of the sea and Porthmeor beach from the rooms at the front of the house are lovely. This house was a perfect base to explore St Ives and further afield. The parking space at the front of the house is very very small but the option of the car park literally across the road was helpful. We stayed in early June and the car park was consistently full so not sure if you would be lucky enough to get a space if travelling in high season. There are plenty of other car parks around St Ives but all are a fairly significant walk (up hill) away. To be fair, I don’t think most properties in St Ives have much more to offer in terms of parking but that is part of its charm. Would highly recommend and I’m sure we will be back again!

  • "A great house in a prime location."

The Seaview from main bedrooms are panoramic and stunning. Access to shops, galleries and beaches is minutes away. The parking space was great for a Polo, but anything bigger needs the car park opposite about 50 quid for a week. Might be a good idea to have a reserved space for guests and add to coat of rental. A very comfortable house with a good stock of books and games.

I know the size of the parking space was included but it is really no more than a drop off point as any real size car would either block the access or be over the double yellow lines, but we were warned so we parked elsewhere. Overall a decent standard of property with a great location. Thanks
