• "Lovely accomodation and really enjoyed the stay."

  The cottage had great facilities and was such a relaxing place to spend a vacation. A real hone from home and tje added bonus of being just a short walk from the beach and town. Improvements: the decking has many spacers missing and given the cottage as a whole is wonderful, this really lets the place down. As does the messy storage hut. Did stuggle to find the cottage on arrival so maybe enhance location details with better, how to find, information.

  Thanks for your review. The decking sits on joists and has gaps for expansion, but they do move unfortunately. We will take a look. The shed/bunker is for guests to leave their beach buckets, spades etc for following guests to use, or not use. We don't supply any of these items. Property Owner

• "Rose cottage did not disappoint."

  All bedrooms and bathrooms were modern and comfy. The cottage was quiet at night and in a perfect position for exploring st ives on foot . Having the outside space to eat out and dry clothes was a bonus . Kitchen well stocked with equipment

  The property was spotless and it was lovely to see that the owners had placed out some complimentary tea, coffee, milk etc which was well received. The property was spacious and well equipped with all the latest mod cons. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

• "The published directions to the property are completely inaccurate."

  Access to the parking area is awkward and was only manageable thanks to the reversing camera on our car. Inexperienced drivers will find it extremely difficult. The parking area is quite narrow, and owners of larger vehicles will find it easier to unpack if the vehicle is not left in its final parked position. The images portray the patio/yard as a large, spacious area, but photographs can be misleading. The patio furniture was also somewhat old and rather grubby, having been left unprotected and exposed to the weather. Opening the door to the “cottage” revealed a reasonably spacious property, but it was not 100% clean. There were cobwebs in every room, which we removed ourselves. The two coffee tables in the living room had not been properly cleaned for some time; the wooden surround was black and extremely tacky. We cleaned the worst of the two and avoided using the other. The kitchen area within the dining space appears fine at first glance, with what seems to be ample cupboard storage. However, upon opening the doors, most cupboards were found to be concealing electrical services and meters. Apart from one, none could be used for storing food. This lack of storage space restricted the food preparation area on the work surfaces. Pots, pans, and other cooking equipment were lacking in the essentials needed to prepare meals easily. We would recommend bringing your own kitchen equipment, knives, and utensils to ensure meals can be cooked properly. When we came to use the cups, plates, and dishes, they were rather dirty. We ran the dishwasher twice to ensure they were clean before use. However, the dishwasher was not fully effective, and we had to finish washing items by hand in the sink. This issue persisted throughout our stay. The gas cooker, although functional, is showing its age. One oven door handle is broken and has not been repaired. In addition, the positioning of the cooker leaves two of its five burners hard against a wall. Although the wall has a protective surface, this does not inspire confidence in terms of fire safety, so we did not use those burners unattended. As there were only two of us staying, we chose to use the bedroom with the en-suite bathroom. However, the narrow gap between the washbasin and the wall made the WC awkward and uncomfortable to use. The sliding door to the bathroom also would not stay closed from the bedroom side; we had to lock it with a coin at night to keep it shut. We therefore opted to use the separate shower room for most of our stay, but noted that the shower door runners and edges were filthy. The roller blind on the large stairway window is difficult to access and can only be operated by climbing up to reach the cord. This is awkward and potentially dangerous. It could be easily rectified by the owner to avoid accidents. The information pack for the property is poor and lacks basic details, such as rubbish collection days. Another notable point is that none of the windows in the property have views, due to its location. Finally, although there are other issues we could highlight, we were particularly unimpressed when the owner turned up after a couple of days and demanded that we speak to her, saying, “But I am the owner.” When we began to give our opinion of the property, she took it the wrong way and implied that we did not want to stay any longer, virtually inviting us to leave. She also claimed that her properties were far superior to others in St Ives, dismissing them as worse and in poor condition. Not exactly the best way to represent one of Cornwall’s key tourist destinations

• "We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage."

  I’d like to thank the owner who allowed us in a little early after such a long journey. The cottage itself was in a great location with a very handy parking space. It was spotless throughout and well equipped for a family holiday. I’d have no hesitation in returning. Thank you.

• "A well positioned cottage with good parking and easy access to St Ives and it's beautiful beaches (provided you don't mind a steep walk!"

  ). The cottage is very clean and comfortable with all the necessary facilities. The courtyard was a real bonus and a great little sun trap! We had a fantastic stay and hope to return again in the future.

  My only feedback is a bigger sign for the cottage or a bit more prominent would help finding it - we would have never found it in the dark, it was only because of a comment I had read that it was opposite the shop - which is super handy by the way.! Overall though a great base to get out and explore St. Ives.

• "The communication with the owners was excellent prior to our stay."

  They were very helpful. Although we know the area very well, the cottage itself was extremely hard to find - a change to the directions would definitely help: by adding 'take the second right' once on Alexandra Rd, this would have helped us to find the property much more easily. There were some (small) maintenance issues we noticed upon arrival, like the button on the toaster was broken, the panel on the bath in the en-suite was hanging on by sellotape and the sofa upholstery was damaged in places around the feet of the main sofa. These issues did not affect our stay however. We would have liked a more detailed information folder with instructions of how to use the range cooker/oven, and when bin day was to put the rubbish out (as our bin was half-full upon arrival) - we usually have this information when staying with other travel companies, like Aspects, St Ives Holidays, etc. so perhaps this is something to add in the future. The keyring on the house key made it difficult to use the lock-box without it jamming. The cleanliness of the cottage was brilliant - please pass on our thanks to the cleaners. Bed linens, towels, etc. were all really clean and appreciated. The overall décor of the house was lovely, clean and bright. We did find the over-table lights in the dining area really low and had many a bumped head during our stay - maybe they could be raised a little to avoid this problem. Overall, the property was lovely and very clean. Thank you.

  Many thanks for your review. The bath panel has been repaired and wish you had reported the toaster directly to me, and I would have replaced it during your stay. Due to the access into the lounge and tight turn into the lounge we have had to buy a 4 seater and 2 seater sofa that had to be built in the lounge. I have checked the sofa and there is nothing wrong with the upholstery of the feet. It is how the sofa is made, and that the join around the feet can be seen. Bins are emptied on a commercial bookable basis. I monitor the bins and put them out on the day before collection. Your bin wasn't full on Tuesday, collection day, and was only full on the day of your departure. This was then emptied prior to the next guests arrival. We would rather guests didn't have to worry about bins during their holidays, and so we monitor them. But so glad that you found Rose clean, and I will pass on your thanks to the cleaners. Thank you. • "Rose Cottage gets a big thumbs up from us."

  Beautifully set up, super comfortable and a great location…even the seagulls seemed quieter in this part of town! The outside space was a real bonus, and the little shop across the road was a holiday game changer. No more carrying heavy bags of basics up from town. The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer.

• "Reverse in to tight car parking space."

  It was tricky to find. Well equipped kitchen. We found the central heating a challenge (February 2022) as we couldn’t find how to boost over the timer as it was very chilly on return from days out. There was a log fire. The control panel was too difficult to see/reach. Perhaps the instructions to use would have been very helpful. The en-suite toilet was very compact and not pleasant if you have claustrophobic tendencies. Lovely welcome from host and bottle of wine. Excellent location.

• "The kitchen equipment was excellent with plenty of plates, cutlery etc."

  The house was clean and the TVs in every room were great. The outside area was a bit cramped and the space for cars was extremely limited and difficult to access. The location was excellent, with shops and beach close by and handy store opposite. All appliances and washing line, bins etc. were easily accessed. We had a great stay though.
