  • "A wonderful apartment perfectly located for the beach, the harbour and station."

The facilities within the apartment were plentiful and of very high quality (Ninja air-fryer, Neff cooker etc). Tea, coffee and milk were awaiting on arrival and very much welcomed. Waking up each morning to the sound of the sea was idyllic and you’ll never get bored of the view of the sunrise each morning across the bay. I don’t think we’ve every felt so relaxed on holiday so soon after arriving than we did here.

Thank you for taking the time to give the apartment such a positive review. Property Owner

  • "Had the most amazing stay in Peninsula Apartment 2."

The apartment has the WOW factor and the views are spectacular. The parking space is a bit tricky so planned for that after reading previous reviews and went in our little fiesta and managed without any problems. (As it happens our estate car would have been ok, we’d have easily managed) The passenger would need to get out so the driver can park comfortably. One of you would need to hold the boot open as it won’t open fully because of the height restriction. Like I say we were prepared for all this as we’d read previous reviews. You can’t complain, you have a parking space which is invaluable. Upon arrival there was a welcome pack which was much appreciated. There was also a book which had a comprehensive set of instructions for ‘upon arrival’ and ‘departure’ plus instructions for appliances etc for each room. It makes reference to a Netflix account but this had been logged out of. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you would need, and more. The additional grass area beyond the decking was fabulous, you can lie there listening to the waves from the beach below, very relaxing. You can also take advantage of the sun until late afternoon when all other apartments had lost it as they don’t have this additional space. The hotel next door had 3 outdoor wedding ceremonies over the course of our stay. It was lovely to sit out and be able to hear. There was noise from the disco in the evening but the hotel were courteous and the music stopped at 11pm. The noise didn’t bother us at all. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk into St Ives. The only negatives were a stain on the mattress topper that was visible through the sheets, so we turned the topper over and remade the bed. The cordless hoover in the utility room had been pulled off the wall, the screws were still sticking out on the hoover, care is needed to fix. The hoover hadn’t been emptied and smelt when switched on. The drain pipe at the side of the patio had become detached, this will be a problem when it rains. Apart from the couple of negatives we had a fabulous stay and have already booked our return for next year.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback after your stay. We are pleased to see that you had a fabulous and amazing stay. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay in St Ives and were delighted with our choice of property."

Very comfortable and well appointed, and situated within easy access to the beach and town. The owner was exceptionally kind and helpful with questions we had, to which we are grateful. Only 1 negative feedback, the cleaners could do with looking under the sofa, it was rather disgusting and the bedside tables. The garden could also do with having the table cleaned, decking swept and the sun loungers seagull poo cleaned off between families staying.

  • "We loved our stay and did not want to leave."

The views are amazing and the apartment is very comfortable and modern. The sand toys and kids body boards came in very useful on our trip. A coffee machine would be a welcome addition and spare sheets instead of the heavy duvets for summertime. The car parking space is quite tricky to manoeuvre in and out of but we were aware from other reviews of this. Thank you for a memorable holiday!

  • "Disappointing, however … On arriving at the car park for our apartment after a nearly 8 hour journey, we were dismayed to find our allocated car park space was very awkward to park into, having to park in sideways, on a slope, with a link chain along one side of our spot making it hard to open the passenger side door, and there wasn’t much room to get out of the driver’s door because of the wall next to it."

On opening the hatchback to take our luggage out, the low ceiling meant we bumped the hatchback against it, causing us to try and protect it by holding a rug over it while we removed our luggage. We have stayed at 2 other apartments at Peninsula Apartments over the past 2 years – Oceania and Abalone, so we were now to compare Peninsula 2 with those 2. It’s sad to say that our first impressions were disappointing. The first bedroom we saw was the smaller one, there was no view out of the window (unlike the other 2 we’ve stayed at in which both had lovely sea views out of the smaller bedrooms) – it was just looking out onto a high fence and back path. There were twin beds but in the “brochure” it said both super-king size (zip/link can be twin on request”) – (it says for both bedrooms). So, as we wanted a super-king size bed we hadn’t contacted them as we assumed we wouldn’t need to. We felt that this bedroom and the bathroom was just “basic” – no “wow factor”. Moving into the kitchen/dining /lounge areas we saw our Welcome Pack on the table – a bag containing a few sachets of coffee, tea and sugar, a small bag of chocolate drops, and a couple of leaflets on St. Ives. At the other apartments the welcome packs had contained lovely Cornish apple juice and a box of Cornish biscuits (as well as the chocolate drops) – so another disappointment. No Alexa, no safe, no visitors book, and the extractor fan in the en suite bathroom wasn’t working; the coat hangers in the wardrobes were very difficult to use, I was glad I took some of my own as I only managed to get one coat hanger off the hook on the rail, but then I couldn’t get it back on again! (The other apartments we’d stayed in had an Alexa, a safe and visitors book and useable coat hangers – so we had expected the same at this one.) Also, there were no little complementary toiletries or reed diffusers to make the bathrooms smell nice in either bathroom – unlike the 2 apartments we have previously stayed at. So, sadly, lots of disappointments for our first impression and after a long journey. However, the views out of the lounge and main bedroom were beautiful overlooking the beach and the garden, where we sunbathed a few times, The garden, we felt, was the best part of the apartment! It is a decent size with 2 comfortable sun beds, a swinging chair, table and chairs on the decking and a big storage box with the cushions for the outdoor furniture. The sun was on the garden all day until about 5 pm when it went behind the building. The main bedroom was lovely, including a super-king size bed which was so comfortable and warm, the duvet was warm and luxurious and pillows very comfortable. We couldn’t get hold of the Sykes Cottage (Carbis Bay Holidays) contact until Monday as they were closed over the weekend. We rang Monday to report the twin beds, the broken extractor fan and no visitors book. We were told by the office that someone would ring us back. We had gone out for the day to the Lizard Point and Kynance Cove – while we were out a lady from “Housekeeping” rang us back on our mobile phone. She suggested giving us the pin number so we could unlock the laundry cupboard and make the bed up ourselves, but we asked her to send someone to do it for us. When we returned to the apartment that evening the twin beds had been made up into one big bed, but the bed was uncomfortable as you could feel the edges of the twin beds in the middle. We felt maybe some sort of mattress topper should have been put over the base to make it more comfortable. The extractor fan had been mended, but still no sign of a visitors book although it asks in the starter pack to leave comments in it. We had a lovely holiday and we liked the layout of the kitchen/dining/lounge areas – each being “sectioned off” a bit so it was like having 3 rooms although it is one long open plan room, so we found it cosy. Also liked the big breakfast bar between the kitchen and dining area which was a very useful worktop. The apartment building is in a prime location and we did love the garden and the views over the beach, and the main bedroom was good with a lovely, comfortable bed with a lovely garden and sea view, but, sadly, we were disappointed by a few things, especially as we had stayed at the other 2 apartments in this building before, so we couldn’t help but compare them.

  • "We absolutely love this property and this was our second stay there."

We love the layout, the decor and the furnishing. The parking space, garden and HarSpa passes are also some of the main reasons we book this particular property. It was great to see some new additions to the apartment including an air fryer, vacuum cleaner, new sofa, beach items and storage box for the outdoor cushions. It looked as though it has been internally repainted as well. The only comments would be that the internet connection wasn’t as good this time with the connection dropping out quite a lot each day but we recognise this is somewhat out of your control and you are reliant on network providers. Finally the outside space, we can see that the windows and glass garden wall are cleaned regularly but the rendered wall on the hotel side and decking area are definitely showing its age and are stained from the seagulls visiting. We feel the gardens overall appearance could be improve with some renovation but appreciate the seafront location means that landscaping can take a bit of a battering and that it’s hard to keep looking new for long also that nothing can be done about the seagulls. It wouldn’t stop us booking again but as we love having the use of a garden and the fabulous views feel it’s worth mentioning as it could be even nicer out there!

! When we walked in for the first time it was cleaned to a very high standard and smelled so fresh. It is equipped for all your needs especially the kitchen . Plenty of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. A ninja appliance for cooking and everything you could possibly need. We had mixed weather and it was lovely to sit out on the decking undercover and take in the beautiful view when we couldn't get out. It is one of the best properties we have ever stayed in in St Ives and we've been coming here for 22 years! Thankyou for a lovely stay. We had to use the carpark near the sports centre to park our campervan for the week as you would only be able to fit a small car in the parking space provided BUT it does give dimensions on the description we just didn't read it properly, believe me it was worth paying for the extra parking to stay here!

The view was heavenly. The home from home kitchen had all the equiment needed to cook/ bake and serve beautiful meals. The spa was a welcome bonus. Only issue but this did not spoil our holiday. Only one spa pass had been left by the previous occupants and we had to wait several days for the local office to drop off fresh passes as the number was unreadable on the only pass available. We would happily visit the apartment again. Thank you Sykes for another 5 star holiday home!

Easy to find once I had reread the instructions provided. Struggled with the key safe ( Finding and initial opening ) but when I had reread the instructions they made perfect sense. Struggled to park in the allocated parking space but that was partly due to the fact that it was our daughter's car and I had not driven it before. Guide provided was easy to follow and described each topic perfectly but it took a while to find the second set of keys. Useful information on places to visit and we caught the bus to most of the places we visited. Apartment was clean and tidy and although we didn't eat often at the apartment the kitchen area contained everything required. Beds were very comfortable, bathroom spacious and the apartment kept warm without the need to use the heating. Sunbeds and chair very comfortable and good views from the garden. Still no hoover but didn't know if this was deliberate so that flooring did not become marked. Overall a very enjoyable stay and our Swiss friend really enjoyed her stay. Within easy walking distance of St. Ives and lift saved carrying cases down stairs.

Thank you for taking your time to leave feedback, it’s much appreciated. We are glad to hear you had an enjoyable stay at the apartment and found the instructions provided easy to follow. Thank you for making us aware about the hoover, we will be sure to follow this up with the housekeepers to ensure the hoover is left out for guest use. • "The apartment is spacious and at an excellent location for Porthminster beach, and St Ives centre."

The view is as outstanding as advertised. Well equipped and spacious kitchen with handy breakfast bar as well as a dining table. The living area is nicely decorated, having Sky is a nice touch. However, there is a distinct lack of sofa seating for a family of 4. There is one two seater and although there is an occasional chair it isn’t comfortable enough to sit on for any sustained period - we had some rainy days so utilising the outdoor seating wasn’t always an option. The bathrooms were fine although there were a few cleanliness issues (for someone with admittedly high standards in this area), we did find mould in a few areas. The master bedroom has a comfortable bed but the pillows are very soft so would recommend taking your own if you are fussy about your pillow. It’s also worth noting it can get very hot in there unless you are happy to sleep with the patio door open. The hotel is next door and this can get quite loud as mentioned in other reviews but this didn’t really bother us - it may do if you are a light sleeper - the second bedroom is on the other side of the apartment so less likely to be impacted. The communal bin area also doesn’t seem to separate recycling from general waste (only glass) which doesn’t seem great for a seaside town with a focus on sustainability. All in all this is a great place to stay in St Ives particularly for Porthminster beach. A few small touches could make this a 10 out of 10 holiday stay.

Thank you for your fantastic feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you loved the property, the area and your stay! Thank you again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Kinds Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at Peninsula 2 before and so knew what to expect and again the property did not disappoint."

However, the one thing that let it down was the family above us. Instead of a family of 3, 2 adults and a small child it sounded like a herd of elephants and that is no exaggeration. Constant running around and stomping across the floor, I cannot believe that this family did not stop stomping back and forth. That coupled with what sounded like balls being bounced on the floor constantly became unbearable at times. I did at one point pick up the phone to call your office but we went out instead. There was a total disregard for noise or how it impacts on the property below. I appreciate that the child may have SEND and therefore difficult for them especially being cooped up on a poor weather day but a little consideration isn’t much to ask for. Perhaps a note in your literature to advise of noise and consideration would be helpful and no ball games inside. Anyway, that has not affected our decision to return again next year and we will be booking soon. Hopefully with more considerate neighbours.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We apologise for the noise from the apartment above . We have not had a problem before but we will have a word with the owners because it must not happen again. Thank you once again .and we look forward to your next visit.
