  • "We had a lovely stay at your property, where everything is catered for , to the finest detail."

Good central location to access many interesting places and beaches. To enable dogs to stay in kitchen we brought our free standing board, this is the only thing we felt was missing. Appreciated the well enclosed garden and lighting. Good supply of books and games for rainy days. Most of all owners were there for us when we lost a key!

Thanks so much Karin for your lovely feedback . We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and have now invested in a doggy board ! What a marvellous idea . We also have one at home for our 18 week old Labrador puppy ! No worries about losing the key , these things happen and alls well that’s ends well . Suzanne and Mark Property Owner

). The only downside is that it is located next to a road but it is not busy and quiet at night. This should have been mentioned in the particulars

Thanks Martin for your feedback. Delighted that you had an enjoyable stay. The cottage is adjacent to a rural road and in a farming community - we will certainly add this as a note to the particulars. We have probably got used to the tractors! Property Owner

  • "What a beautiful base for our week in Cornwall!"

The cottage is of such a high standard and has absolutely everything we needed...with some lovely extra thoughts too. Wifi was great as there's not much phone signal, selection of games, smart TV and a very well equipped kitchen. Thanks to the weather, we got to enjoy the garden too with a few visits from the sheep. The adjacent road can be quite loud at times with tractors and buses, but you get used to it and it definitely wouldn't put us off staying again. Perfect base for exploring our favourite part of the world. Thank you for a wonderful week...we will be returning! And a mention and thank you to your housekeeping team...we have never stayed in such a clean holiday let. They are a real credit

Thanks Claire we are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and delighted that you had a visit from the sheep ! We look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future! We are very lucky to have such an amazing housekeeping team and will certainly pass your kind comments onto them ! Suzanne and Mark Property Owner

It feels like we found a real gem. An idyllic location with a stream in the back garden, cosy yet modern interiors with adorable homely touches (the toilet roll holders were a fantastic touch!). We like our holidays to be full of day trips and long walks along the coast and in the countryside, and this property really did feel like a home from home to come back to. The outside shower and washing line was a brilliant idea! The bedrooms were luxurious and the bathroom was spa-like. Really, it was tough to pack up and go home. The property

Wood Brook Cottage, a delightful character cottage nestled in the foot of a wooded valley adjacent to Clowance Bridge in the rural hamlet of Crowan approximately half a mile from the village of Praze-an-Beeble.

The rural location makes it ideal for walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside, but its central location means it is only a short drive to many of Cornwall’s finest beaches on all coasts.

The infant River Hayle rises in Crowan approximately quarter of a mile up the hill and flows across the bottom of the garden and under the adjoining Clowance Bridge into the woods and Lakeland of the Estate opposite.

Step inside your new home from home as the inviting woodburning stove sets the stage for a relaxing retreat.

Reclining settees, a state-of-the-art TV and fast fibre broadband allow you to unwind in comfort.

The well-appointed dining/kitchen offers everything you need to prepare a delightful meal.

Open the patio doors to extend the kitchen and enjoy the views of fields and woods, eat al-fresco on the patio area or fire up the barbeque.

Soak up the sun with a refreshing drink as you listen to the babbling stream or as darkness falls, the call of the Owls from the woods.

Each of the bedrooms has a pleasant rural view with louvred plantation shutters to the rear windows.

The master bedroom has built in wardrobes, an exposed granite wall and king-sized bed.

The other two bedrooms on the ground and first floors can be made up as twin rooms or super king-sized beds giving maximum flexibility to guests.

Explore the local countryside, or venture to the golden sands of Hayle and Gwithian Beach just a short drive away.

Here you can also explore the scenic estuary and bird reserve with a wide range of diverse species to look out for, before heading to the iconic Godrevey Lighthouse, where you can enjoy a coastal walk and soak in the panoramic views of the coastline across St Ives Bay.

Visit the picturesque fishing village of St Ives for shopping, the Tate Modern, and any of the 7 beaches.

And on return, enjoy the thermostatic outdoor shower, also ideal for sandy wetsuits or grubby dogs!

Penzance, a short drive away, beckons with art galleries, St Michael’s Mount, and various boat trips from fishing to wildlife cruises and even to the enchanting Isles of Scilly.

Wood Brook Cottage offers a truly special stay, providing a home from home as you explore Cornwall’s unique and beautiful countryside and coast.

About the location

CROWAN

Helston 5.9 miles; Hayle 7.4 miles; St Ives 13.2 miles; Penzance 13.5 miles.

The cottage is located in Crowan which is a village and civil parish covering a number of hamlets and villages approximately 4 miles south of Camborne towards Helston. It includes the now larger village of Praze-an-Beeble which has a village pub, post office and shop, pasty shop, and fish and chip shop. Across the road from the cottage is Grade II listed Clowance House, the former seat of the St Aubyn family which is now a luxury holiday complex. The House was largely rebuilt in around 1840 (which is also the likely date of construction of the bridge adjacent to the garden). The bar, restaurant and spa are open to non-residents and there are lovely lake and woodland walks in the grounds.

Crowan is also the source of the River Hayle that is the stream at the foot of the garden.

There are numerous ports and harbours offering fishing and boat trips on both coasts, notably St Ives, Newlyn, Penzance, and Porthleven. Hayle is just over six miles away and has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. The jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach , with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. Within easy reach of Crowan is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Marine Museum, Eden Project, St Michaels Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry and wet days.
