  • "Just before arriving, we got lostso we phoned the owner who were more than happy to help and very friendly."

Freshly baked scones with clotted cream and local jam on the side. Was a nice welcome. The lodge was spotless with everything you need at hand. My husband is a wheelchair user and the lodge was perfect plenty of space, it was child freidly too and my dog had a fab time. We have had an amazing week. Highly recommended and we would book it every year. Thank you very much for an amazing lodge.

  • "The cabin was perfect, on fact, beyond perfect."

The lovely owner had anticipated everything we may have needed so the cabin was really well stocked. And fresh homemade scones with jam and cream as we arrived was very welcome. There is a Quarry lake near by which the kids loved for swimming and that was probably the highlight of their holiday. Would highly recommend this property and area of Cornwall.

  • "Absolutely gorgeous."

The cabin is fantastic, clean, in a wonderful surrounding with a breathtaking view over the countryside and some spectacular sunset. The location is perfect, short distance from everything we wanted to see and to do and Kirsty has been an excellent host, gentle and fun. We will definitely go back.

The property

Mellydone Beder Del is a stunning, single-storey lodge situated on the outskirts of St Breward in Cornwall.

Set within a large quarry and with two lakes, this unique retreat offers a first-class getaway for families and friends to Cornwall.

Illuminated with natural light, the contemporary open-plan living space offers a delightful space to relax in the evening; take a seat on the sumptuous sofa before the Smart TV, tuning into your favourite on-demand shows or simply reminiscing over the holiday so far.

Head to the breakfast bar and keep the chef of the group company whilst they get acquainted with all the mod cons, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher, so you won’t have to lift a finger when it comes to washing up!

When the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the three bedrooms, each tastefully furnished with crisp white bed linen and enjoying en-suite facilities and Smart TVs, so you can resume your binge watching in bed!

After the thrill and excitement of a day on the moors or enjoying the exhilarating lakes, relax in the hot tub out on the terrace, before returning to the lodge, or gather your loved ones for an alfresco meal.

When it comes to dining out, you have two of the finest moorland pubs in Cornwall just two miles away; head to the award-winning Old Inn, dating back to the 11th century, or book a table at the Blisand Inn, famous for its quality range of real ale and former national CAMRA pub of the year award.

Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long, disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow.

Pop on your walking boots to venture into the rugged landscapes of Bodmin Moor, or head to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beaches resting along Cornwall’s northern coastline, including Polzeath Beach, Harlyn Bay Beach, and Tregardock Beach.

Alternatively, you might prefer some sightseeing so visit the TV home of Doc Martin at Port Isaac or venture to Tintagel where the legend of King Arthur abounds at Tintagel Castle and Merlin’s Cave.

With so much to do close by, as well as being within reach of the north and south coast of Cornwall, a stay at Mellydone Beder Del promises life-long memories with your loved ones.

On the edge of the town of Bodmin is the fascinating museum and haunting presence of the old Bodmin Jail, which was built from granite excavated from this very quarry back in 1840. Close by are the open spaces and wind swept grandeur of Bodmin Moor while the incomparable Eden Project (11 miles), Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum (30 miles) and the beautiful harbour town of Padstow with its famous pubs and restaurants (16 miles) make for great days out.
