  • "Beautiful property, lots of space, lovely gardens."

A great house for relaxing in. The location is great as the bay and coastal path are so close but it is peaceful and quiet at all times. Only criticism is nothing left in the kitchen, no foil, condiments, tea bags etc. Luckily we brought most of what we needed with us but when I've hired similar properties there have been some basic consumables accumulated from previous guests that helps.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your stay, we are pleased you enjoyed the property so much. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • ""We had a fabulous holiday at Greystones, which we shared with another family and adult children."

Greystones is luxurious, beautifully-designed and furnished and must be one of the top properties in the area. The new kitchen is absolutely stunning and the entire property greatly improved by the recent renovation, with thoughtful extras like an outside hot shower. We liked the house and garden so much we spent less time on the beach than usual! Greystones is a fantastic holiday house and we felt very privileged to be able to rent it for a week."

This light and airy house exudes coastal New England style, with plenty of large windows for the Cornish sunshine to flood in through.

The beautiful, newly installed kitchen is a cook’s dream, with its expanse of marble quartz worktops as well as a large island with bar stools and a stunning open plan dining area that transcends onto the terrace; agapanthus, lavender, and rosemary surround the splendid south facing terrace where everyone can gather to lounge in the sunshine or relish mealtimes alfresco style.

There are both formal and informal sitting rooms, with a particular feature being the large and elegant Garden Room with woodburning stove, bar area and cinema style television, leaving guests spoilt for choice when taking a moment to relax.

On calm days, Daymer is ideal for swimming, paddle boarding or beach combing, and an idyllic location for children to build sandcastles or explore the dunes and the many rockpools at low tide, and when the wind is right, this is a great spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

A short stroll takes you to the site of the late poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman's grave at St Enodoc, the ancient chapel nestling within the dunes above the bay.

Coastal walks are rewarding and can be as gentle or arduous as you like, with easy access to the South West coast path.

For nature lovers there are seabirds aplenty and you might even spot pods of dolphins gambolling out on the Doom Bar at the mouth of the estuary.

Take a walk at low tide to the thriving sailing mecca of Rock, with many watersports available, or head to Polzeath for exhilarating surfing and body boarding, followed by cocktails in one of the many bars or restaurants.

About the location

Polzeath 1.3 miles; Rock 2.3 miles.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders, with the gentle waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. At low tide you can walk across the sand to the village of Rock to indulge in a spot of retail therapy or a bite to eat at one of the many delicious eateries, or catch the short ferry ride and explore the delights of Padstow. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.
