  • "We stayed in this delightful cottage for a week as my daughter lives in the village and we were celebrating my birthday."

The property is so well equipped we didn`t need to have taken anything but our clothes. We were welcomed with a cream tea and wine which was a real surprise. There is a log burner which although we didn`t need to use it would be great if the weather was colder. There are radiators which were quite adequate. A washing machine meant I didn`t have any dirty washing to take home. The bed was very comfortable (there are two doubles but we only used one) and although the toilet is downstairs we found this was no problem at all. There is parking at the front and back of the property (unallocated). A shop next door but one to the cottage sold everything we needed. There is a good butcher`s shop and an excellent pub in the village too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Victoria Cottage and will be booking to stay there again next year . Highly recommended.

Owner very welcoming on your arrival. Cottage is perfect especially if your a dog owner. Location ideal for exploring Cornwall . With the local village shop being 20 seconds walk and The Pheasant pub being 3 minutes walk the cottage is ideal for being away from the crowds of seaside towns but offers opportunities in village to eat out or takeaway. Would definitely stay again Garry

The fact that you only have a downstairs toilet wasnt a problem. Handy having a public toilet right next to the cottage. One bedroom only has hanging hooks on the back of the door but not really a problem. Local pub the Pheasant is super freindly and does excellant food. Your also only 1 minute from the shop wich is very well stocked. If your going out dont follow the sat nav to leave the village, turn left and this will take you to the main road. Thoroughly recommend. Cream tea and a bottle of wine on arrival was a great treat

The owner kindly met us with the keys and allowed us early access to the cottage as we were already staying in Cornwall, a gesture we really appreciated. It’s in a lovely picturesque village, we were met by the owner, Frank, who had left us wine & cream & jam scones ( thanks!) The cottage has everything you’d need, it’s well equipped, the WIFI is good inside, for dogs there are leads/ towels/treats/ water bottles / poo bags etc if you forget them. The enclosed patio was ideal for my 2 small dogs to be outside safely. The beds are super comfortable, yes the loo & shower are downstairs but there are are only 9 or 10 steps on the stairs and not too steep even with my arthritic knees. There are woods in the village to walk dogs. The Pheasant pub is 3 minutes walk away, staff are friendly & the food is good, we ate there 3 times in the evening , choosing to sit outside in a ‘pod’ in the beer garden because we have reactive dogs. The Londis shop is a couple of doors away & is well stocked. The neighbour is lovely and very forgiving of barking dogs. We drove out to St Ives, Falmouth etc & visited some of the many beaches but the best time was to be had at nearby Crantock beach, swimming in large rock pools with the dogs in the afternoon / evening when most people were leaving for home, bliss! We would definitely return!

  • "Well for us it wasnt ideal as being of a certain age the stairs to the bedroom were very steep, and probably could have done with a grab rail both sides, and having no bathroom upstairs was a predicament (suggest dressing room becomes a bathroom) bathroom downstairs just about adequate, suggest a larger television (as due to the bad weather we experienced) we spent a long time watching)dog walking meant we had to drive everywere and pay expensive car parking fees, no open areas in the village were we could let the dogs off for a run,or in the local areas,we had a meal in the local pub the Pheasant which was nice,I would ask more questions if we ever booked again ."

We are sorry the gentleman was disappointed . I did ask if , on account of his condition, he would be able to manage the stairs and he was insistent that he could. Otherwise we could have made up a bed settee downstairs. The downstairs toilet is clearly mentioned in Sykes description of the property . While there are no open spaces in the village to let a dog run free there are footpaths, bye ways and other open spaces in the vicinity where parking is free . We could have advised if asked. We are glad he enjoyed the pub and hope his health issues are resolved soon. Property Owner

The property itself is situated only a few doors away from the village shop and 5 minutes walk from the pub. We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean on arrival. The shower room sink is a bit small but they have a lovely big Belfast sink in the kitchen for brushing your teeth so not an issue. The beds were large and comfortable and the lounge was very cosy at night and there is adequate heating should it get a bit chilly in the evening. The side garden is nice and private and we took great pleasure in having regular visits from many small birds and their chicks in the morning wanting our toast. Overall we were extremely satisfied with the accommodation and would definitely stop again. Only saw the owner on arrival but they are on hand if needed. Definitely worth a stay if you have transport but there is a bus service that runs through the village to Newquay

The hosts were lovely, and the nice touches of wine, scones, jam, cream & mince pies were lovely in addition a bottle of milk in the fridge which were not expected but a very welcome gesture. The cottage is exactly that a cottage, 2 bedrooms, lounge/diner and kitchen with shower room off kitchen. If you are looking for lots of space this would not be for you but it was far from cramped and the addition of the dressing area off the main bedroom is a good space. It is well equipped, although we did notice some glasses that had been pushed to the back of the cupboard which were broken or cracked, I would like to think the people who broke the items told the owners and paid for the damages but as the item were still in the cupboard it is highly unlikely which would upset me if I were the owner of the property. We have left a note for the owner advising them if the glasses that are broken. I just hope they can determine who would have done the damage. We would definitely return should we want a trip like this again as it is a first for us as we have a touring caravan that we would normally use, but with it been winter decided bricks were preferable. Thank you Frank & Hillary for allowing us to use your cottage we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
