Beautiful cottage in a lovely area but did need a dusting cobwebs with spiders in were in every room, the bathroom needed a clean dirt and hairs found and when striping beds (which I’ve never be asked to do before) duvets had stains on

Thank you for your feedback. We've done an extended clean and hopefully will remain on top of cobwebs. Property Owner

  • "On the whole we were disappointed with ivy cottage."

The zip and link bed was uncomfortable, needs a good quality mattress topper for better comfort. The whole place was full of cobwebs, the room where the freezer was kept was smelly, needs a more thorough clean through out, could not sit and enjoy the sea view because there was no decent garden furniture, the 2 folding chairs where dirty, had to use the metal ones which are no good for relaxing on.Had to keep dog on lead due to hedge being cut low in parts as he could run and drop into neighbours garden.Been to far better cottages over the years. Not worth the money and wont be returning.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We're really sorry to hear you were so disappointed with your stay. For ease and clarity we'll respond to each point individually. 1. Zip and link beds - the mattresses on these are less than 3 years old and as other feedback has been positive about comfort of beds we're not sure how we can make improvements. We will monitor this. 2. Cobwebs - the cottage is an old stone and cob built cottage surrounded by farm land and country. Cobwebs get cleaned and very quickly reappear. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get rid of spiders. Any at the cottage are small and they do prey on flies and other small insects which is helpful. 3. Freezer store room - we are very short of storage at the cottage so have chosen not to have a tall fridge freezer but an under counter fridge and separate freezer. Because of lack of space the chest freezer is in the store room. It's not ideal but seemed the best of a difficult challenge. The storage room had a problem with water penetration last winter which has been dealt with. There may be a lingering musty smell which will lessen over time but will probably never completely go because of the way the cottage has been built. 4. Sea views - we understand this issue completely and will look into putting a bench on the grass next season so the sunsets can be more comfortably enjoyed. 5. Low stone walls - the stone wall facing the sea is low to gain maximum benefit of the stunning views. We will supply a long lead in due course, for customers with dogs that might be tempted to climb. We put our terrier on a long lead and she's fine with that. We trust this has answered the issues you raise. Once again we're very sorry that your experience at Ivy Cottage didn't match up to your expectations. We aim to provide as high a quality experience as possible within the limitations of a cottage of this age and size. Wishing you well Property Owner

  • "Cottage was beautifully restored, decorated and furnished."

It had parking on site and a good enclosed garden. Being an old cottage it was out to ‘get’ you. Many low doorways on which to bang your head. The narrow twisting staircase was difficult. The kitchen steps were not easy to see but easy to fall down. A shower would have been preferable to the high sided bath. It would suit smaller than average, fit, adventurous people.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. Property Owner

  • "Perfect location, lovely cottage for 3 of us."

As expected with an old property the beams are low but once we got used to that we were fine. Comfy beds, great kitchen and bathroom and nice welcome touch when we arrived. Would definitely recommend and hopefully stay again. The view from the garden of the sunset dipping into the sea was magical.

We're so glad you found Ivy Cottage comfortable and the location perfect for your stay in Cornwall. The sunset is definitely magical. We hope to welcome you back if you visit this part of Cornwall again. All the best. Property Owner

  • "Lovely old cottage."

Served our needs, was very clean and welcoming. The garden is so pretty with a great view of the sea although the drop was a little nerve wracking to start with for the dog but he learned to keep away from that.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We're so pleased to hear you found Ivy Cottage clean and welcoming and the garden a wonderful space to sit and enjoy the amazing sea views. We've put solar lights at intervals along the drop, we hope they act as a deterrent and provide some protection. Wishing you all the best. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, with garden and parking, larger than we expected, comfy bed, the best linen."

Can’t fault it. We hit our heads a few times on the low doorways! But that’s due to us forgetting to duck! There are notices. As a bonus we had the most perfect weather for exploring this beautiful part of Cornwall.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We're so glad you enjoyed our lovely cottage and found it comfortable. Best wishes to you and your family. Property Owner

With a gorgeous, stone-clad exterior, and boasting close proximity to nearby amenities and attractions, this charming property offers everything you and your loved ones will need for a relaxing, self-catered escape near the Cornish coast.

Inside, make yourself at home in the cottage's well-presented living spaces, where the designated chef can cook up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen; settle down for meals at the dining table before sitting back in the well-appointed sitting room, which comes complete with a wall-mounted TV and a crackling, multi-fuel stove.

As the evenings grow darker, treat yourself to a long, indulgent bath before retiring to one of two double bedrooms, both complete with plush bedding that await to transport you to a night of tranquil slumber.

After you've enjoyed your morning coffee whilst soaking in views of the horizon in the garden, take time to explore your local area by making the short trip into Tintagel, where you can roam the historic spots of the Tintagel Castle and Barras Nose, or even the fabled beach cove of Merlin's Cave.

The North Tintagel Boulders and the lush sands of Bossiney Cove are also worth a stop at, as well as the National Trust landmarks of the Tintagel Old Post Office and Glebe Cliff.

A brief drive South West will bring you to the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac; since 2004, the village has served as the backdrop to the ITV television series Doc Martin.

It also is home to the sea shanty singing group Fisherman's Friends.

Drive a little further down along the coast and you come to Polzeath, a seaside resort village home to the Pentire Point nature reserve, Polzeath Beach and the Pentireglaze hiking area.

Camelford and Wadebridge are also worthwhile stops to visit during your time in the region, or why not board the ferry from Rock to Padstow, to tour the bustling fishing town?

All of this and more await during a stay at Ivy Cottage.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and within a short distance is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a short but scenic drive.
