  • "Lovely cottage, the views are truly amazing, better than the photos."

Really comfortable beds and very clean. Great conservatory and terrace seating, lots of space to relax and easy walk into Marazion. The Fre Engine pub and the Godolphin are great places to eat, and the fish and chip shop! If we could suggest anything to add, it would be that some brief, clear hand written instructions for the Bosch oven and hob would be great. Even with the instructions manuals, it's way too complicated and if you arrive late and need to use the oven, it takes an hour to work it out! A useful tip is, the hob plates don't go red and if you take the pan off, you have to start over! The only other thing is that it is really inconvenient, bthese days not to have a hand held shower in addition to the main one. And lastly, the check out time is a bit early... It is a holiday and to be out by 9, with all the cleaning requirements means you get 6 days, not 7! But it's a great place for a low key escape. Recommend it warmly!

  • "The metal bin for putting cold ash from the fire in was completely full."

We emptied some of it out after speaking to the cleaning company and they sent us some bags. However the bin is still very full and requires emptying. Also on Saturday 19th March there was a very heavy storm and water came through the chimney in the conservatory and also came through the doors in the main bedroom, and we had to put a towel in front of the doors to soak up the water.

The view from the conservatory is stunning (and quite tricky to draw yourself away from!) The beds are super comfy and the welcome gifts of a cream tea and local apple juice was a lovely touch. Would very much love to stay again.

  • "Light in conservatory didn't work."

Could have done with a mirror on the ground floor near the row of coat hooks which kept falling off! Loved the welcome pack (but not the Mince Pies!), Christmas tree and the fact that it was warm on arrival. Bed and pillows comfortable and just wonderful to lie in bed and see St Michael's Mount. Would highly recommend you suggest future renters take a torch and mention that the property is down a private lane with lots of puddles!

Thank you for your post and we are delighted that you loved the cottage as much as we do! The light in the conservatory needed a new bulb which has now been replaced. We keep spare batteries and bulbs under the kitchen sink, as well as a torch! Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved our holiday at Greeb Rocks Cottage!"

It was so beautiful and the views were stunning, especially from the bedroom balcony. Our daughter loved being so close to the beach and Marazion is a perfect base to explore Cornwall. The cottage had everything we needed, including some lovely scones, cream and jam for our arrival. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be returning!

  • "Lovely little cottage."

Very clean and comfortable with everything that you could need for a holiday and with a sofa now added to the conservatory it was great. Beautiful views (apart from the day we had Cornish Mizzle!) especially from the Juliet balcony in the bedroom. Very comfortable bed. Central for visiting that very southern area of Cornwall, which we love. We had some wonderful entertainment one evening with many helicopters circling, landing and taking off again on St Michaels Mount in preparation for the G7 summit just around in Carbis Bay. With no garden it’s not ideal for a young dog because we had to take her out very early and very late on a lead but when we originally booked for 2020 we had an older dog. At that time, April 2020 and in lockdown, no rebates were being given by Sykes for cancelling for a June holiday so I had to forward my booking to this year. Not complaining about the dog as that was up to us but I am just recommending that it’s not ideal for a young dog who wants to go out a lot. We did manage to find some fields a short walk away. The little patio underneath is really nice reached by wooden steps from conservatory but again not ideal for a young energetic dog or anyone nervous of steps. Marazion is a lovely old village and with Penzance just a mile or two along the road and with all the shops and supermarkets that you could need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and certainly miss the view now that we are back. We would definitely return one day.

  • "The only problem we encountered was the lack of operating instructions for the cooker and hob."

if you had used a Bosch unit before you would be okay but it is hardly intuitive i had to get on too get operating instructions so a simple set of instructions would be useful. other than that it is a really good cottage walking through the door is like putting on a comfy jumper you feel at home right away.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on Greeb Rocks Cottage. We are sorry to hear that you were unable to locate the instructions for the cooker and the hob, they are kept in the Cottage handbook. We are glad that you felt at home during your stay. Hideaways. Property Owner

There’s also a covered seating area if the sun is too bright. There are lovely circular walks from the cottage through the village and onto the dog friendly beach. The fish and chips, especially the fish, from the local Marazion ‘Tudor Chippy’ was consistently excellent.

The flowers and cream team on arrival were very welcome after a long drive. Like previous guests we fell in love with the sun terrace with great views of St Michael's Mount. The beach is in walking distance. Dinner at The Godolphin Arms was lovely. We were sorry that we did not have access to the garden as we had taken our 2 dogs and the patio was not really suitable for them. Had I known that we didn't have access, I wouldn't have booked this property, but having said that we had a great time and would go again but not with our dogs.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We apologise that you thought you had use of the garden. We would love to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Parking and vehicle access were VERY tight."

Cottage was nice but lacked love and presentation. Sofas are a bit clinical and modern for such and old traditional cottage. Conservatory is laid out and furnished without considering the need for comfortable seating. However we had a thoroughly wonderful week and dogs thought it was great but we may not return for the price. Outdoor space was wonderful but a bit wet and windy to enjoy in March x

  • "Only booked 6 nights instead of 7, annoyingly told a £30 admin charge would be incurred to change booking to include another night (Thurs 24th)."

Would have been better to honour it, but then everybody charges for everything nowadays, so that was my very first impression of Hideaways - could potentially be more accommodating for their valued customer, especially if they are to return. First impressions of cottage are it's beautiful and cosy, a nice touch with clotted cream scones and flowers. Bought anthracite for fire as none provided, left some for next holidaymaker to use. Under beds in main bedroom not cleaned very thoroughly (hairballs and dust). Perhaps it would a good idea to provide something to read, ideas of what to do, vouchers, booklets about Cornwall, decent map/s, eating places etc. A 'Please Mind Your Head' notice would be a good idea on the upstairs balcony and French doors to the conservatory. Underfloor heating in kitchen awesome, the kitchen door lets in quite a draft when it's windy outside - perhaps a heavy curtain across might alleviate this. Views awesome. TV good with Sky, which can drop off sometimes (together with telephone signals which are notoriously bad in Cornwall). Sofas are not the most comfortable for 4 people to relax on. The quaintness and charm of the cottage together with the décor and overall cleanliness and views of sea and St Michael's Mount are the things that I would recommend most, together with the log fire. It's a cosy and welcoming cottage with parking included and it is perfect for a short family break.

  • "Booked Greeb Rocks as a late booking over New Year 2016/17 for myself, my partner and our small dog."

We couldn't have been happier, from the moment we arrived in Marazion driving along the coast and past the awe inspiring St Michael's Mount, to the moment we opened the cottage door into a warm welcoming kitchen with exceptional cider and homemade mince pies waiting on the table and the decorated Xmas tree in the snug lounge. The cottage was perfectly clean and comfortable and the view out on to the mount is just breathtaking. We didn't have the time to enjoy the garden but it looks wonderful as it leads down to the sea with nothing between the cottage and it. Whilst in Marazion we are at Ben's Cornish Kitchen which is as good as everyone told us it would be. (We'd booked in advance which is a must if you hope to find a table) We found Marazion to be a great base to discover the deep south west but a limited as a destination itself unless you are planning to walk the coastal path or need seclusion. Greeb Rocks Cottage though is perfect, warm cost and yards from the beach. We can't wait to return.

  • "The booking of Greeb Rocks Cottage was exceptional through Hideaways, who were extremely helpful in providing me with extra photos of the stairs due to my mobility problem."

The cottage was so comfortable and cozy, the sun room and terrace with the amazing views of the sea and St Michael's Mount being the highlights. A perfect spot to watch the many birds in the garden and have a glass of wine in the evening. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with everything you would possibly need in the kitchen to cook a meal. A lovely cream tea and cider were provided on our arrival too, which was much appreciated. We found Marazion itself a really lovely place for a quiet holiday, with plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The Marazion marshes are worth a visit for bird watchers too. There is a regular bus service to Penzance and Nippy taxis, so we were able to get about without a car.
